Roy Hamilton - Don't Let Go. CD. (Shout Factory - SHOUT 27)

Roy Hamilton rose to fame in the mid-1950's with big ballad hits like "You'll Never Walk Alone","Hurt", and the seminal version of "Unchained Melody", all sung with his warm, powerful, vibrantbaritone voice, then moved into the R&B era with the rocking "Don't Let Go" the gospel-inspired"You Can Have Her", and "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry", covered by Elvis Presley.During his years with the Epic label, he recorded numerous albums which mixed lush ballads withthe occasional uptempo gem, which has meant that until now it has been difficult to appreciate thequality of his R&B performances. With this CD, Shout has gathered a collection of the cream of Roy's Epic tracks in the R&B style, both ballads and beat, to put a new, soulful perspective on the recordings of this great singer whothey called "The Golden Boy" .- Essential Roy Hamilton Epic recordings, focus on his R&B stylings- Includes the Elvis covered "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry"- All material unavailable for many years

Roy Hamilton - Warm Soul Plus. CD. (Poker - DECKCD104)

Well-known for the many pop/ gospel/R&B hits that he recorded for Epic in the 50s/60s, this is his first album for MGM in 1963 "Warm Soul" after the hits had dried up but his fan base feel is his recording peak. Also included as a bonus are the seven MGM singles that were originally released from 1963 - 1965. Warm Soul is re-issued here for the first time and is in part, a showcase of many fine MOR ballads which are complemented in turn by some gorgeous gospel and soul recordings.
