Samurai - Samurai (UK). LP. (Dr. Prog - LP 7103 DRPR)

Superb pre-Greenslade UK progressive rock album from the early '70s. A varied array of instrumentation creates some great flowing progressive music with strong melodies, solid guitar work, and powerful vocals. Fans of the more "hippy" prog bands such as T2, Fantasy and Gnidrolog will dig this..... nice sleeve art.

Samurai - Samurai (UK). CD. (A - AK 341)

Authors of one self-titled album dated 1971 Samurai were a British band risen from the still smoldering ashes of Web (just after the release of their third and best LP). The tracks found here represent the best of what British jazz rock has to offer - a sort of King Crimson meets Bloodwin Pig. Notable also for their excellent instrumentals, thanks in part to the help of sax men Don Fay and Tony Roberts. Dale Lawson would soon go on to form Greenslade with Dave Greenslade of Colosseum. A true rarity and indispensable collector’s item! This CD-issue is housed in a thick card digi pack.

Samurai - Samurai (Japanese). CD. (Japanese - PCD1599)

Excellent release from this Japanese band (who sing in English) called "Samurai" whose 1971album is sometimes known as "Green Tea" or "Kappa". It is basically a very early '70's soft psychedelic prog album similar to Pussy or July with a great atmospheric production sound. It also features a couple of particularly magnificent prog-inflected tracks with great fuzz guitar, keyboards and flute. An official Japanese pressing with obi strip.
