Savage Rose - Your Daily Gift. CD. (Polydor - 843 187 2)

Denmark's Savage Rose recorded a wealth of intriguing and eclectic progressive rock in the late '60s and '70s. This is their fourth album from 1970 recorded in Rome, that has a unique sound built around the distinctive vocals of female vocalist Annisette's voice which were multi-tracked in a melodramatic quasi-Spector style. Freeform jazz mixed with prog rock wig outs with keyboards, harpsichord, freaky guitar licks and those distinctive vocals. Magic.

Savage Rose - Wild Child. CD. (Polydor - 843 190-2)

In 1974 the core trio of Savage Rose recruited a new band after operating for two albums with a reduced lineup. Thomas and Anders Koppel (keyboards) and Annisette (vocals) were joined by Peer Frost (guitars) Rudolf Hansen (bass) and Ken Gudman (drums) to create a harder progressive rock sound that still featured the diversity that the band had become known for. The result is regarded by many as the bands best album comprising epic keyboard and guitar driven rock with experimental passages and of course Annisette's distinctive and powerful vocals. This was unfortunately the bands last album until a comeback in the late 70's.

Savage Rose - Travelin'. CD. (Polydor - 837 185 2)

Third album from 1969 by this Danish Rock band. More psychedelic than their later work with echoes of the Airplane, Doors, Pink Floyd etc. Combining classical jazz and Danish-Euro folk elements this record was recorded after some abandoned sessions with Giorgio Gomelsky, who had been working with Magma, The Yardbirds, Blossom Toes and Soft Machine. The haunting vocals of female lead singer Annisette take the album away from being a run of the mill recording setting a course for the bands later diverse explorations of Rock, Jazz and Gospel stylings.

Savage Rose - Savage Rose. CD. (Polydor - 843 184-2)

Debut 1968 album by one of Denmark's best rock bands formed around the startling voice of female lead vocalist Anisette Hansen and the keyboard players/brothers Anders and Thomas Koppel. This first album is lighter and less jazz orientated than their later albums but still has the bands trademark keyboards to the fore with some melodic guitar work. A good introduction to the band and an early hint of their later prog rock prowess.

Savage Rose - Refugee. CD. (Polydor - 843 188 2)

The 1971 album from this unusual Danish band who make a mixture of gospel styled vocals and prog rock, with double-keyboard action. This was a solid more traditional rock outing with driving sound, smart lyrics and evocative jazzy leanings. Production was by Rolling Stone's Jimmy Miller and his protégé, the late Joe Zagarino, engineer from' Exile on Main Street'.

Savage Rose - In The Plain. CD. (Polydor - 843 186-2)

The great second album from 1969 by this legendary Danish band fronted by wild afro adorned female vocalist Annisette Hansen, featured keyboards with harpsichords to the fore. A very dramatic band with surreal and evocative jazzy leanings, Savage Rose had a unique sound built around the distinctive vocals of Annisettes voice which is somewhere between Grace Slick and Björk! In many ways this album is years ahead of it's time.

Savage Rose - Dodens Triumf. CD. (Polydor - 837 817 2)

When Savage Rose downsized to a three piece in 1971 comprised of the original keyboard brothers Thomas and Anders Koppel and female voaclist Anisette they recorded this landmark album in Danish art rock, which was released in 1972. It was the score for the ballet by Flemming Flindt (the title translates to "Triumph of Death") and was almost entirely instrumental (one song featured Annisette's vocals). A great classically influenced rock record it's atmospheric, proggy, jazzy and melancholic, making for compelling listening.

Savage Rose - Babylon. CD. (Polydor - 843 189 2)

Since becoming a trio in 1971 Savage Rose had recorded the mainly instrumental Dodens Triumf and then in 1973 they made Babylon, a beautiful laid back jazzy affair with gospel influences making the most of Anisettes expressive vocals. The predominant keyboards are augmented with sax, trombone and choirs to give a late night, bluesy feel to the whole record. Beautiful stuff from one of the most diverse bands of the '70's.
