Artist Listing : Shiva's Headband (8 products)

Shiva's Headband - Take Me Too The Mountains. LP.

Led by Violin virtuoso Spencer Perskin (who prior to the band performed as a solo artist on the folk circuit) Shiva's Headband were a kind of rural hippy, psychedelic rock band mixing blues folk and country with an acid fried contempt for red neck society. They performed on the same psychedelic stages as The 13th Floor Elevators and the Conqueroo. Originally released in 1969 on Capitol this album is very much in the late 60's early 70's rural rock vein with flashes of the earlier psychedelic sound particularly evident on the re-working of the bands pre-album singles "Songs For Peace" and "Kaleidoscoptic".

Shiva's Headband - Coming To A Head. CD. (Akarma - AK250CD)

This excellent album was recorded in the early 1970's and was originally released on the obscure Armadillo Records. After scoring locally with a couple 45s, the band moved to San Francisco in the late '60s and recorded their debut album. This their second follows the same rural rock path with some great extended jams in the San Francisco spirit. It includes one bonus track,"Mr Noname" (live) and is housed in a thick card mini LP sleeve.
