String Cheese Incident - One Step Closer. CD. (Inside Out - SPV08548522) The 2005 album release from this most popular of all contemporary US jam bands, featuring five of the most multitalented musicians to put their works to disc in the last two decades. Produced by Malcolm Burns, featuring guest contributions from Robert Hunter and Jim Lauderdale, and highlighting a new collaborative approach between the members in their songwriting, with each player taking lead vocals and contributing two songs each. It almost brings to mind the team spirit, if not the sound, of those old Moody Blues albums, except with longer songs- and that's some recommendation.

String Cheese Incident - Outside Inside. CD. (Evangeline - GEL 4033) This is the latest US band to be garnering great reviews on the American festival circuits. In the tradition of "jam bands" such as Widespread Panic, Govt Mule, Phish, and before that of course the Grateful Dead. Comes from various roots such as folk, blues and country to forge that very American rock sound that always sounds polished. But also wields the influence of spontaneity and improvisation. Well worth checking out.
