Artist Listing : T- Rex (28 products)

T- Rex - Zinc Alloy And The Hidden. Dble CD. (Deluxe - MEDCD717)

Unusual album recorded in 1974 at the height of fame. The hits had been rolling in for the last four years, but on this album Bolan decided to experiment a little. With Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti at the helm this was an at-times a very stripped down affair, with the glam factor decidedly present but not as in-yer-face as previously. There's even a few tongue in cheek moments, as if Bolan is parodying himself and the whole business. The second disc contains the alternate Zinc Alloy and bonus acoustic demo's.

T- Rex - Tanx. LP. (Get Back - GET634)

The band's follow-up to their legendary The Slider, 1973's Tanx was for many the last classic T. Rex record before Bolan began his irreversible descent into drug addiction. Despite the band's continued popularity, particularly in the UK, the album inexplicably never had a hit single, even though songs like "Born To Boogie" would have found themselves at home at the top of the charts. Although we can hear Bolan trying to expand the band's sound with R&B style backup singers and horns, songs like "Rapids," "Highway Knees" and "The Street & Babe Shadow" deliver vintage T Rex. 180 gram gatefold LP

T- Rex - Futuristic Dragon (Remastered). Dble CD. (Edsel - MEDCD 719)

1976 album that saw Bolan flirting with New Romanticism - something he was well entitled to do, having been one of the original instigators of glam rock. T- Rex - Dandy In The Underworld (Remastered). Dble CD. (Edsel - MEDCD 720)

T- Rex - Children Of The Revolution (The Essential Marc Bolan). Dble CD. (Music Club Deluxe - MCDLX004)

Iconic from his star-filled hair to his twinkling toes, Bolan's glam image, on stage theatrics and blistering pop songs were a vital ingredient in the heady mix that was the first half of the 1970s. An inspiration and a vital lesson in the history of rock Bolan is justly celebrated with this great new 38 track double CD compilation. Drawing from his early solo years, his hippy folk stint as Tyrannosaurus Rex, the sparkle-fuelled saucy pop of T Rex and his stomping work as Marc Bolan this comp is aiming at full coverage and does an admirable job. Housed in a slipcase with sleevenotes from former Blow Monkey Dr. Robert. In the words of the great man himself: "I ain't no square with my corkscrew hair". Indeed.

T- Rex - Bolan's Zipgun. CD. (Repertoire Records - REP4846)

Bolan's 1975 album - the first to not mention T Rex on the cover - showed a growing sense of maturity and sophistication as the human chameleon that was Marc Bolan attempted to establish his musical credentials beyond the hordes of screaming teeny boppers that had made him famous. Here he flirts with blues, doo-wop and soul although still retaining certain elements of his metallic boogie hitmaking appeal. Two bonus tracks also included.
