Tal Farlow - Guitar Genius: The Gibson Boy. Dble CD. (Giant Step Records - GSCR018) A dominant figure in 1950's modern Jazz,the self taught Farlow earned the nickname "The Octopus" due to his virtuosos playing technique as well as his large hands and long fingers. This double CD brings together some of hs best studio performances, recorded in 1950's Los Angeles. The first twenty nine ae solo pieces, while the last six are highlgihts of his time as part of Red Norvo's Trio where he first found fame. These recordings also feature Charles Mingus aas a guest.
