Walter Egan - Hi - Fi/The Last Stroll. CD. (Acadia/Evangeline - ACA8077) Two albums on one disc-set showcasing the third and fourth recorded works of this late 70s/early 80s soft rocker, on a musical plane not a million miles away from that of Billy Joel, Eddie Money, Warren Zevon, Donald Fagen, or even Sniff 'N' The Tears- with the exception that those were mostly East Coasters and Egan's own laid back West Coast delivery never failed to shine through. In fact, the influence of the original West Coast bands can be heard predominantly on 'The Last Stroll' which takes up the second half of the disc- so much that premier UK psych man and West Coast simulator Deke Leonard plays lead guitar!! Two previously unissued tracks added including an accapella version of his best known song, 'Magnet and Steel'.
