One of the most distinctive acts to emerge from the London punk scene of 76/77. X Ray Spex were centred around powerful voice of Poly Styrene. 27 tracks here cover their brief but inspired career with instantly meorable songs "The Day The World Turned Day-Glo", "Oh Bondage Up Yours", "Lets Submerge", "Plastic Bag" and "Germ Free Adolescents".

Very rare as an original this late 70's UK punk album finally get's the vinyl re-issue treatment.The songs were guitar-driven with great sax wailing over the top which gave the band its true sonic signature.This is punk-pop that combined outrage and aggression with a sense of alienation and disenfranchisement about rampant commerciality and an increasingly sterile world. Features "I Am a Poseur" and world pleaser "Art-I-Ficial".Housed in a PVC dust jacket.

X Ray Spex - Let's Submerge: The Anthology. CD. (Castle - CMEDD 1378)

Everything this era defining perfect Punk Pop band ever recorded on two CD's. Outrage, energy and conviction mark every one of the fifty two tracks here, the group led by the overt political activist and feminist Poly Styrene from76, she soon grew sick of her immediate star status and broke the band up in '79. Includes their three iconic 45's "Oh Bondage, UP Yours", "The Day The World Turned Day-Glo" and "Germ-Free Adolescents" plus demo versions, live favourites, Peel sessions and Mari Elliot solo tracks. Many tracks from the second disk have been unavailable on CD. Liner notes by Kieron Tyler and include exclusive inerview material.
