Screw - Banks Of The River / Devil's Hour (10inch + CD With Psychede. 10".
(Label: , Cat.No: )

Click for large image Screw were an amazing UK 60s psychedelic blues quintet from south London whose chief claim to fame was their support spot at the Rolling Stones Hyde Park concert in July 1969. The group released no records during their brief heyday (1967-70) but Shagrat Records has unearthed the bands only two extant recordings along with a Screw related outtake "Psychedelic Harps". The two tracks on the 10" were recorded in May 1969 under the supervision of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason whilst the CD features a twin psychedelic mouth harp jam that was part of Screw's set. With nods towards Captain Beefheart, the Misunderstood and Free, the band featured Chris Turner (harmonica), Al Kinnear (guitar), Nick Brotherwood (drums), Stan Scrivener (bass) and Pete Hossell (vocals), and they played many gigs at the time including the Roundhouse, Eel Pie Island and the London Guildhall. A genuine lost band offering two killer, dirty acid blues tracks that will appeal to fans of late 60s UK freak rock ! Only 500 limited copies made with a detailed historical insert by Nigel Cross - who saw the band in the late 60s and also unearthed this piece of rock history! We recommended you pre-order to secure a copy.

Fire - My Fathers Name Is Dad (En El Nom Del Pare - 45s, Demos & Ac. LP.
(Label: Guerssen Records, Cat.No: GUESS038)

Click for large image Well-known British group leaded by Dave Lambert, Fires’s 45 "Father’s Name is Dad" (Decca, 1967) is considered a classic of the freakbeat genre, having been included in uncountable compilations since the '80s. The band is also remembered for their sole full-length album, "The Magic Shoemaker", a perfect example of the transition from psychedelia to progressive rock, in 1970. But before releasing this album, the band recorded a number of demos and acetates, ranging from freakbeat to psychedelic and early prog-rock. This compilation puts together on one LP a collection of their 45s, demos & acetates (exactly like the mighty label Tenth Planet did in the mid 90’s), which you can now get before it sells out! .

Ballroom Beat Vol 2 - Try Me Out - Various. CD.
(Label: Psych Out Records, Cat.No: PCCD7016)

Click for large image 20 tempting portions of prime British Beat (1964-66) previously uncomped on CD. The music contained within is a bit more all-embracing than the hard-rocking R&B which emanated from smoky blues basements. What we have here is Volume 2, full of artistes who typify Saturday night in a provincial dance hall. You’ll find a Scottish band who only had records released in Germany, one of Brian Epstein’s less successful discoveries, two different early versions of King Crimson, a Coronation Street actor trying his hand at pop, and the band that would soon become Marmalade, plus, of course, a host of further delights.

Poopik/Jericho / Churchills. - Everybody. CD.
(Label: , Cat.No: 4190-2)

Click for large image "Poopik" is known as an excentric actor and musician from the 60's Israel outsider culture scene. He released his sole outfit in a rare LP released in 1970. His backing group here are the Churchill's and they wrote some of the tracks, including 2 Hebrew versions for their singles, one is taken from their S/T from 1969 and another from the Jericho from their LP Junkies monkies and Donkies from 1971, both tracks sung by Poopik. This is a great psych-pop from the 60's-70's, will appeal to Churchill's fans.

Click for large image Live performance filmed at the Roundhouse in 1976, this DVD features highlights from their three day tenure plus interviews with the band, their manager and even the hard working put upon road crew. The band are in top form but lets face it when were they not in top form? In addition to the informative and hugely enlightening interviews the band perform some classic Man material including: "Born With A Future", "Bananas" and "Babe Im Gonna Leave You." This fascinating documentary has rarely been seen since the original film was broadcast in the late seventies and as such will be highly anticipated by the large and devoted fan base still commanded by Man and as such gives a great insight into what the band were all about during their seventies heyday. DVD, Region: 0 Ratio: 4:3 Sound

Man - Live In Cologne, Germany 17/04/1975. DVD.
(Label: Voiceprint, Cat.No: VPDVD 35)

Click for large image When this live in the studio performance was taped for German television Martin Ace had only been back in the band for just over two weeks. His recall to the ranks of Man was due to the sudden departure of the previous bassist in Man Ken Whaley. This line up of Man however was only ever considered a temporary solution to the bands problems and following a tour and the subsequent live album entitled Maximum Darkness, Martin Ace headed off once more to pastures new . The set included the long time Man staples "Cmon", "Many Are Called But Few Get Up" and "Romain" alongside some newer material such as "Hard Way To Die" from the bands most recent album Slow Motion and "Someone Is Calling" which had surfaced during the sessions for Slow Motion but unfortunately due to the restrictions of vinyl was omitted from the final running order. Region: 0, Ratio: 4:3, Sound: Stereo.

(Label: Cherry Red, Cat.No: CRREV222)

Click for large image Classic girl group- isms mixed with Baroque Pop, Wyrd Folk, Psychpop and club R&B, all with a wonderful good humour… Fans of the esoteric might care to know that Kevin Ayers' song "Eleanor's Cake Which Ate Her" is about the group...that they sang backing vocals on Electric Ladyland and the first Soft Machine album...and that Eleanor herself sang 'I Got You Babe' with Tiny Tim (backed by The Band) in the cult movie "You Are What You Eat". Collected here are the groups two late 60's albums, both making their debut on CD. Remastered sound and a booklet that features phtos from the era and liner notes by Tiny Tim biographer Chris Campion.
