Primitive Graven Image - Traversing The Awesome Night. CD. (Label: Open Grave Records, Cat.No: ) Primitive Graven Image hail from London UK 2007, with a mighty influence from Scandanavia 1987, and the fact that they have already signed to US label Open Grave despite the band's early age (they have been together for only a year in fact ) is testament to the fact that they are a rising force to be reckoned with in the black/extreme metal genres. Brothers Dokkalfur and Ljosalfur have created an album of uncompromising icy cold black metal with further influences ranging from progressive/battle metal to heads down no holds barred death metal. Raw in production, yet intense and at times progressive and beautiful, Traversing the Awesome Night is very obviously influenced by the very first black metal bands, early Bathory, Celtic Frost and Dark Throne spring to mind, yet later tracks on the album such as Victorious hint at a Voivod influence even with more interesting rhythms interspersed with blast beats. An interesting mix of ideas drawring on the past and the present has created a solid debut album that comes recommended.	Cradle Of Filfth - Eleven Burial Massess. CD + DVD. (Label: Peaceville, Cat.No: CDVILEF180X) Thirteen track live performance from 2001 recorded at the legendary Rock City in Nottingham. One of the most provocative live metal bands the world has seen, this is them in their element with a stunning light show, freaks and stilt-walkers from the notorious Circus Of Horrors and fire-breathing (not forgetting their own glorious brand of black metal.) This CD and DVD release features the same gig and is presented in a digi pack.
Abscess - Horrorhammer. CD. (Label: Peaceville/Snapper, Cat.No: CDVILEF165) Seventh full-length album by the Death Metallers, recorded in late June 2006. Featuring Chris Reifert & Danny Coralles who wre formally of gore metal band Autopsy have been prodcuing filthy punk fuelled death rock since the early '90's. Recorded by long time cohort Adam Munoz at Prairie Sun Studios.	Katatonia - The Great Cold Distance. CD & DVD audio. (Label: Snapper, Cat.No: CDVILEF176X) Seventh album of icy cold progressive-Gothic-doom-death from the Scandinavian masters whichc is now available in a special package including the original album, which also includes 2 bonus tracks ("Displaced" & "Dissolving Bonds"), and a second DVDA disc containing a 5.1 channel mix of the album, for the optimal audio experience.
Cradle Of Filth - Heavy Left Handed And Candid. DVD. (Label: Snapper, Cat.No: DVDVILE8) Live DVD performance recorded at Nottingham Rock City. One of the most provocative live metal band the world has seen: a stunning light show, freaks and stilt-walkers from the notorious Circus Of Horrors, fire-breathing and, of course, The Filth’s distinctive brand of black metal noise. This eleven track performance was the one that was originally streamed on the internet, receiving 600,000 hits. DVD extras include "Scorched Earth Erotica" (clena and dark versions) and "Born In A Burial Gown" promo videos, fly on the wal footage, photo gallery and more.	Katatonia - Discouraged Ones. CD. (Label: Peaceville, Cat.No: CDVILED155) The Stockholm based group's third album from 1998, now re-mastered and re-issued. An emotionally charged epic release, the atmospheric absorbing sound the band creates is so damn miserable the singer barely finds the strength to produce any notes. Not exactly mos pit material, this one of those metal records that gets into your head and your heart. Expanded with two bonus tracks: "Quiet World" (an unused track from the album sessions) and "Scarlet Heavens" (dating back to 1994.)
Divine Empire - Method Of Execution. CD. (Label: Century Media, Cat.No: 775212) Forth album from the Florida Death Metallers, released in 2005. An album that operates on a claustrophobic, primal level, this is a stunning assault on the senses. Almost alone they have proudly kept pure Florida Death alive, with only the odd hints of Norweigan Metal influences creeping in. Includes: "Sanctionized Homicide", "Random Beheadings", "Surgical Strike" and "Murderous."	Firebird - Hot Wings. CD. (Label: Rise Above Records, Cat.No: RISECD081) The return of Napalm Death/Carcass founding member and guitar virtuoso Bill Steer. After the demise of Carcass, Firebird became the vehicle he uses to vent his anger. Recorded and mixed in eight days onto analogue tape, it doesn't get much rawer than this. No need for automation, click tracks or auto tune here, this is all note perfect rootsy rifferama. Includes: "Play The Fool", "Flying Blind" and "Good Times."
Birds Of Prey - Weight Of The Wound. CD. (Label: Relapse, Cat.No: RR66782) A metal super group extravaganza! Featuring (ex) members of Municipal Waste, Melt Banana, Human Remains, Baroness, Kilara, Avail and more, this is pure old school Southern Metal made by lovers of the genre. Their debut recordings, no keyboards, breakdowns or bullshit, this for every fan of Metal out there.	Darkthrone - Preparing For War (Special Edition Box Set). 2 CD + DVD. (Label: Peaceville, Cat.No: CDVILEB134) Special extended edition of the rarities collection, now encompassing 2 CDs, a double sided poster and a DVD of their sole TV appearance, extract from two Live shows from Finland '91 and a sequence of interviews. This odds n' sods collection pieces together the highlights and some obscure recordings from one of Norway's most extreme metal bands. Having begun life as a standard Death Metal act around the time of their debut release, 'Soulside Journey' in 1991, they changed their sound and image to fit the uncomprimising Black Metal scene that had begun to take shape around Oslo and Bergen. This remastered Clam Box release charts the band's highly successful career, from their beginnings as everyday metalheads to their respected status as innovators within the scene. Satanic themes, warp-speed riffing and political controversy are all essential ingredients of legend that is Darkthrone. Second CD is a thirteen track spot light on rare and sought after recordings of classic tracks. Booklet features an indepth interview with the band.

Thunderous drums, gloriously cutting guitars and howled vocals. Amongst their best work, a band still pushing themselves this far into their career with such an uncompromising attack. Spot on black metal. Includes: "NoTime To Cry", "The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh" and "Suicide Aand Other Comforts."	Baphomet - The Dead Shall Inherit. CD. (Label: Peaceville, Cat.No: CDVILED 31) '92 debut from the New York Death Metal outfit, (later known as Banished) remastered and reissued. A group to rival Suffocation and Immolaton for sheer brutal death metal, this album is a cult classic. Touching on Grindcore and speed metal, this is a surprisingly complex and adventurous piece of work of layered rhythms and screamed vocals.
Venom - Cast In Stone. Dble CD. (Label: Castle, Cat.No: CMQDD1367) Cast In Stone originally released in December ’97 alsobecame known as the reunion album as the original line-upof Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon put the past behindthem to once again grasp Black Metal by the barbs. This edition of the album has been completely re-mastered by Cronos who also presides over the entire artistic direction.As per the original release, a bonus disc of classic rerecordedVenom tracks is retained but this time adding afurther five tracks from the rare Venom ’96 mini album,recorded as a limited edition release for the band’sDynamo Festival headline to 90,000 fans. The re-masteringof these recordings benefits from advanced productiontechniques under Cronos’ supervision.	Venom - Live In London. DVD. (Label: Locomotive, Cat.No: LM273) This legendary live concert was recorded at Hammersmith Odeon on the 8th October 1985. Tracks include "Black Metal", "Countess Bathory", "Bloodlust", "Welcome To Hell", "Witching Hour" and "In Nomine Satanas". Classic Black Metal from the masters of the genre.
