Last Poets - On The Subway. Dble CD. (Atom Music - ATOM2038) The Last Poets are still regarded as the key Rap outfit, setting the way for the emergence of Hip-Hop. The thirty three tracks featured on this two disc collection are original recordings compiled from the Harlem (NY) groups seven original albums released by Douglas Records, Blue Thumb, Casablanca Records and Celluloid. They feature a classic mix of jazzy proto-funk, tribal rhythms, socio-political poetry and urban tales with a '60s beat vibe.
