Jon Anderson - Mother's Day Concert. CD.
(Label: Voiceprint, Cat.No: JAVPBX02CD)

Click for large image Jon Anderson will be universally known as the vocalist with the legendary progressive rock band Yes. Jon has been with the band since its inception, save for a couple of occasions when he briefly left to pursue a solo career.Towards the end of 2006 Jon Anderson released the boxed set The Lost Tapes. The Mothers Day Concert was one of the albums featured within the box. In 1996 Jon Anderson and a group of musicians took to the stage in a beautiful Californian winery to perform a unique set of YES, Jon and Vangelis, and solo songs. The show wasn't recorded officially, but thanks to hours of tireless investigative work recordings were found in private hands. Remastered.

Jon Anderson - Animation. CD.
(Label: Opio Media, Cat.No: OPIOVP01CD)

Click for large image The former Yes singer's third solo album, first released in 1983. His first after leaving Yes, there are many pop references appearing in his work as well as the tried and tested prog. It is an album that's both complex and uplifting and features elements of Jon updating his sound with the electronica of the era. Jon surrounds himself with Jack Bruce's touring band (Bruce als oappears on a few tracks) to create something quite special here. This nine track album has always been a fan favourite.

Queen - News Of The World. CD.
(Label: Parlophone Records, Cat.No: CDP7894942)

Click for large image 1977 finds Queen reaching their '70's height on the live stage. Their sixth release reflects this with it's grandstand double whammy start of "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions." As ever this release finds the four songwriters playing around in any genre they damn well feel like: Blues, Salsa, funk, proto punk piano ballads and more! Special attention has to be given to the closer "My Melanchly Blues", Freddie at his most captivating and glorious. Maybe not as career defining as earlier albums, it is still a brilliant listen that is filled with individual highlights and triumphs. A real pleasure of an album.

Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Double Live. CD.
(Label: SPV / Yellow, Cat.No: SPV97672)

Click for large image Live album first released in 1988. Suggesting that Marino and his band flourish in the live arena might well be a bit of an understatement.; this is a superb example of their force on stage. Deluxe Digi Pack design with extensive liner notes by Marino. Includes: "Poppy", "Juggernaut", "Electric Reflections" and "Midnite Highway."

Frank Marion And Mahogany Rush - From The Hip. CD.
(Label: SPV / Yellow, Cat.No: SPV304272)

Click for large image Marino's eleventh studio album first released in 1993. A much more rockier LP than his '80's output, the bluesy riffs dominate proceedings. It is also the groups' attempt to make a much more melodically rich album than in comparison to their first few releases. Originally eight tracks, this remastered version features a bonus track "Hingston Heights", a surprisingly jazzy sixteen minute tune. Booklet features extensive exanatory liner notes.

Queen - Greatest Hits I. dbl DVD.
(Label: Parlophone Records, Cat.No: 4929449)

Click for large image Double DVD compiling all of the Queen promos and a few live rarities from the '70's. Although they didn't often get a chance to create such colourful videos like Bohemian Rhapsody for their single releases, they often preferred to show themselves performing the track "live" (an interesting and amusing commentary from Brian May and Roger Taylor reveal how they wanted to push that side of their career harder than the multi layered results they got in the studio). Essential for the surround sound 5.1 mix, the audio revealing many multi channel delights.
