This CD looks through the Acid Jazz label’s early singles, classic old cuts that filled dancefloors, and essential album tracks. This is the original sound of Acid Jazz as defined by Gilles Peterson and Edward Piller. Its aim is to sum up one of the most vibrant club scenes of the late 80s -the one true alternative to the march of house music. · As well as early singles by Galliano, the Brand New Heavies and A Man Called Adam, it also features the CD debut for the genre's rarest track: "Like A Gun" by King Truman, a pseudonym for The Style Council. Only 300 copies wre produced of this rare single before it was pulled by Weller's record label of the time. Fourteen tracks in total.
Vinyl version of this absolutely fantastic '70s Italian psych. Two long trippy, tracks with blistering guitar work that's part Hillage and part Hendrix. Certainly the best Italian psych album next to Circus 2000's debut... Wonderful.Housed a gatefold sleeve as per the original and pressed on red wax . Very limited.

The Mother Earth' second album, originally released in 1994 and seliing 100,000 world wide. Happily talented lead singer / guitarist Matt Deighton adapted to the situation, touring and recording with Paul Weller and Oasis. This analogue recorded thirteen track album has been expanded with previously unreleased demos, alternative mixes (one by Brendan Lynch), alternative versions as well as non album A and B sides. Guest vocalists on the record include Paul Weller and Dee C Lee. Remastered from the original half-inch analogue masters.
In 1986 cult garage favourites the Prisoners split up after making four great albums but achieving no breakthrough. They left a massive cult following and a bunch of bills. Their organist James Taylor went to Sweden, studied jazz piano and on holiday back in the UK used up some studio time to record a punked-up version of Herbie Hancock’s ‘Blow Up’ before returning back home. The rest is history. This tweny three track CD is the story of the hectic first year of the JTQ. Bringing together the Blow Up album and the whole 1987 Re-Elect The President sessions. Acid Jazz started here.
Pre-Med are a decidedly Space Rock band. The band was put together in 2004 by Danny Faulkner with help from Hawkwind bassist Alan Davey. The other main member of the band is guitarist Lewis Turner, although he has since left the band. Former Hawkwind drummer Danny Thompson plays on two tracks on the album and Steve Leigh (formerly of Chemical Alice, Landmarq and Quasar) supplies the keyboards on three of the ten tracks.Medication Time is the bands first release although it was briefly available for promotional purposes as Invisible Spies. As Medication Time the album now comes with new artwork and of course the new title.
Renowned DJ Patrick Forge has specially selected the tracks that make up this CD, many of which have appeared over the years in his set at Notting Hill Arts Centre that has existed since the late 80s. Digging deeper than deep into the respected EMI Odeon label, he has collected 20 solid gold Brazilian nuggets, most of which are rare as hen's teeth and released here on CD for the first time. Strangely, many of them will sound familiar to you: this may be because they've been sampled by God knows how many DJs for their so-called 'breaks'. However, thes tracks are the originals, they're better, and you don't have to be a Hoxton twat to enjoy them!! Includes tracks from Marcos Valle, Djavan, Joyce, Elza Soares and Elis Regina among others.
Corduroy - Out Of Here. CD. (Label: Castle, Cat.No: CMRCD223)
Corduroy's strongest, most successful album was issued in 1994. Cool, west coast-type harmonies now joined the melting pot of easy funk, Hammond grooves and TV/film-ish material to create the band's masterpiece. An inspired, funky rewrite of 'Motorhead' and 'Mini' were chosen as singles - but this album truly worked as a whole, with more vocal material than ever before.
Corduroy - Quattro (Live In Japan 1994). CD. (Label: Castle, Cat.No: CMRCD350)
Rising from the ashes of 80s cult heroes Boys Wonder, Corduroy fronted the Acid Jazz scene of the early 90s. Their heady mix of Hammond organ, Swinging London imagery, funk grooves and loungecore is captured on this previously unreleased live set from Japan, where they were bona fide pop stars.
Corduroy - Something In My Eye: The Best Of Corduroy. CD. (Label: Castle, Cat.No: CMRCD902)
Corduroy’s three Acid Jazz albums represented the best that London’s mid-90s retro club scene had to offer. This set cherry-picks the prime cuts from the instrumentals that filled 1992’s Dad Man Cat, the imaginary film soundtrack that was 1993’s High Havoc, and the songcraft of 1994’s Out Of Here, to create a perfect introduction to the band who defined acid jazz.
Corduroy - High Havoc. CD. (Label: Castle, Cat.No: CMRCD222)
Corduroy's second Acid Jazz LP from 1993 was 'A Concept Album' on which 'Corduroy Create High Havoc' on a mock-soundtrack. Echoes of Our Man Flint mix with Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush to create a more unified sound than their debut - which also embraced lush, jazzy vocal tracks like the club hit single, 'Something In My Eye'.
For the first time, Corduroy's entire career is anthologised. They recorded three albums for (fl) Acid Jazz, Dad Man Cat (1992), High Havoc (1993) and Out Of Here (1994) before signing to V2/Big Cat to record two further LPs, The New You! (1997) and Clik (1999) - and all are featured on London, England.
Corduroy - Dad Man Cat. CD. (Label: Castle, Cat.No: CMRCD221)
Corduroy's debut album was issued in autumn 1992, mixing groovy 60s Hammond organ instrumentals with loungecore tracks and Swinging London/spy soundtrack spoofs. The album was produced by the band with Acid Jazz founder Eddie Piller. Highlights included 'E-Type' (their very first recording) and 'Harry Palmer', named after Michael Caine's memorable 60s film character.
