Skye Klad - Musick Of Cupid's Orkustra Asleep In The Magick Powerhouse O. CD.
(Label: Hand / Eye, Cat.No: HEDCD13)

Click for large image In control of some of the darkest Psychedelia/Occult noise rock, this is Skye Klad. Starting in '96, this is Klad's latest effort, a mixture of acoustic instruments, tribal percussion, brass and unsettling sound sound effects. Includes: "Fleeting Faunus and the Prophecy of the Fields", all chanting vocals and insistant drumming, the whispering vocals of "Mary magdalene" and Occult worshipping "The Cross of Lorraine." A band working without the net.

Demon - British Standard Approved. CD.
(Label: Plastic Head, Cat.No: SPMCD005)

Click for large image Fourth album from Staffordshire metallers, featuring some of their best-known material such as 'Touching The Ice' 'The Link' and 'Hemispheres', which continued their more scientifico-political (if such a word exists) and less occult-based lyrical direction. Sadly, this was the last album to feature guitar hero and songwriter Mal Spooner, who tragically died of pneumonia whilst still only in his early thirties shortly after its completion. It is said that after his death Demon ceased to be a traditional heavy metal band, and he took their 'classic' era with him: maybe this is true, but Spooner himself was anything but traditional. And there were still highpoints aplenty around the corner. . . Remastered with bonus material.

Demon - The Plague. CD.
(Label: Plastic Head, Cat.No: SPMCD004)

Click for large image 1983'S 'The Plague' saw Hill, Spooner and Co dropping their quasi-mystical/ black-arts obsessed lyrical stance and instead adopting more of a political and current affairs-based worldview, using the Black Plague as a metaphor. Released on the small Midlands-based indie label Clay, it received positive reviews but suffered frankly piss-poor distribution and never reached its desired audience. Still, they persevered. Looking back, 'The Plague' is very much an album of its time, and was at the time considered to be their 'prog' excursion, but it is in fact melodic Metal to the core and should be recognised as a classic of the NWOBHM/ NOBWOB era. Remastered with bonus material added.

Demon - The Unexpected Guest. CD.
(Label: Plastic Head, Cat.No: SPMCD003)

Click for large image Second album from this great and highly underrated British Metal act, fronted by coffin-wielding frontman Dave Hill (no relation) who have been performing pretty much continuously since the mid 1970s. Originally released in 1982, it wasn't quite as much of a classic as its predecessor 'Night Of The Demon' but featured some fab favourites such as 'Don't Break The Spell' Sign Of A Madman' and 'Deliver Us From Evil' Like 90 percent ofl the greatest metal bands, they hailed from the Midlands, and if you close your eyes and listen to this you can just smell the real ale, leather jackets, bike fluid and hear the clack of a thousand rock chicks' stiletto heels. Ah, they don't make 'em like that anymore. But they will!! Remastered with bonus material.

The DVD includes more songs than the CD: both are of superb quality, now you can own them together. Ain't that nice? Metaaaaaal!!

Hammer Horror - Twins Of Evil OST. CD.
(Label: GDI, Cat.No: GDICD012)

Click for large image Superb orchestral soundtrack of the classic 1971 Hammer Horror movie Twins Of Evil, directed by John Hough and starring Peter Cushing, Dennis Price, David Warbeck, Kathleen Byron, Damien Thomas and Playboy models Madeleine and Mary Collinson- the two Maltese twins whose look influenced goths of many generations. The score by James Bernard, the true giant of film soundtracking, is every bit as great as you remember it.

Hammer Horror - Scars Of Dracula OST. CD.
(Label: GDI, Cat.No: GDICD014)

Click for large image Powerful and chilling orchestral soundtrack (composed and conducted by- who else but James Bernard?) to the fifth film in the Dracula series (the fourth to feature Christopher Lee, alongside Dennis Waterman, Jenny Hanley and Patrick Troughton) originally released in 1970 and directed by Roy Ward Baker. Not the best Hammer film by any means- that honour still belongs to "The Devil Rides Out"- but dig the music. Excellent 20 page colour booklet containing detailed liner notes and tons of images from the movie.

Hammer Horror - Curse Of The Mummy's Tomb OST. CD.
(Label: GDI, Cat.No: GDICD016)

Click for large image Carlo Martelli's orchestral soundtrack to Hammer's "The Curse Of The Mummy's Tomb" which was released in 1964, directed by head Hammer honcho Michael Carreras and starred Terence Morgan, Ronald Howard and Jeanette Howard. Excellent 20 page full colour booklet included, containing detailed liner notes and tons of images from the movie.

Hammer Horror - Blood From The Mummy's Tomb OST. CD.
(Label: GDI, Cat.No: GDICD019)

Click for large image The atmospheric soundtrack to what lurks surely within Hammer's all time Top 10 films- 1971's "Blood From The Mummy's Tomb". This was the film that attempted to drag Hammer kicking and screaming inton the Seventies- set in the present day and starring Andrew Keir (deputising for a recently widowed Peter Cushing), James Villiers, Rosalie Crutchley, Hugh Burden, Mark Edwards, George Colouris, James Cossins, David Jackson and the most beautiful woman to ever wear a velvet furlined coat and kneeboots, Valerie 'Hai Karate' Leon. Needless to say, the music- composed by Tristam Cary and full of the mystery and terrors of the Middle East- is superb. Excellent 20 page colour booklet included. DUN- DUN- DURRRR!!!

Hammer Films - She & The Vengeance Of She OST. CD.
(Label: GDI, Cat.No: GDICD018)

Click for large image Two Hammer fantasy adventure/horror soundtracks on one CD- the legendary "She" (who must be obeyed) which starred Ursula Andress, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Bernard Cribbins- and the 1968 sequel "TheVengeance Of She" with John Richardson, Cliff Owen and Olga Schoberova. Excellent colour 20 page booklet containing detailed liner notes and tons of images from the movie..
