In Goth Haze Volume 2 - Various. DVD. First time ever on DVD for this compilation of rare promo and live material - featuring some tracks previously unseen on any format. From it's first major explosion in the late 1970's / early 1980's, the Gothic scene has always been most fervently supported by its many followers. It is still incredibly popular around the world, as the manycompilation albums dedicated to the genre testify. The scene has thrown up many great songs, bands and characters - many of which are featured on "In Goth Daze Volume 2".The artists included here include some of Goth's star names and stalwarts, such as Fields Of The Nephilim, Specimen, Alien Sex Fiend, Nico and Skeletal Family. | Furyo - Complete. CD. Luton punk goths 1984 debut album and EP releases on one disc. They gained high praise with their emotive live shows and their own brand of positive punk which led to all of the limited vinyl releases selling out very quickly. Originally called UK Decay, various line up and name changes finally resulted in Furyo. This is the first time these tracks have made it onto CD, here they are remastered and packaged with extensive liner notes and images from the time. |
Play Dead - From The Promised Land. CD. The original 1984 studio album released on CD in it’'s original format for the very first time. Formed in 1984, Play Dead were one of the many cult acts in the UK early 80's Goth scene. This album came out on CD in hte '90's but, much to the groups disdane, the tracklisting was altered and it was given a differnet name. The band will be glad to know that the original eight track album has been restored to its original tracklist and title and expanded with nine bonus numbers. Booklet features sleeve notes by Alex Ogg (No More Heroes) and interviews with the band. | Mission - Best Of. CD. The die hard Goth band of the 80's & 90's get a well deserved best of compilation. Found here is twenty of their greatest tracks, fully realising their majestic craftsmanship. They have come a long way since ex-Sisters Of Mercy guitarist / singer Wayne Hussey decided to take his dark ideals down the path of rock bombast and splendor in 1986. Since then they have attracted a core of Goth fans who have stuck loyally by them, they should appreciate the eclectic mix of tracks found here. Includes: "Like A Child Again", "1969", "Wasteland" and "Crystal Ocean." |
Gary Numan - Complete John Peel Sessions. CD. Various sessions from across the goth synth hero's lengthy career, brought together for the first time. The collection opens with two sessions from 1979, the first one took place three months before the release of the second Tubeway Army album Replicas and they are suitably bleak in their style. Included on the second session was a funky version of Numan's biggest hit "Cars", this alternate arrangement probably stems from this new composition being largely untested live at this point. The last session which features on the second CD is from 2001, with Numan recording nine tracks at Peel's behest. This previously unavailable collection was recorded to promote his album Pure. A real collectors choice for Numan fans, the crunchy guitars, analogue bleeps and the clear technological advances being made still leave the listener in awe. Also includes: "I Can't Breathe", "Me! I Disconnect From You" "Conversation" and "Prayer For The Unborn." | Joy Division - Martin Hannett's Personal Mixes. CD. This is REALLY going to appeal to all Joy Division fans, recently discovered tapes put together by his friends and family. This album features alternative mixes of Joy Division classics like Passover, The Eternal, 24 Hours, Autosuggestion and more, recorded on Hannett's own tape machine which he left running throughout his sessions with the group and he stored away in his personal archive. These alternative versions were the producers personal favourite versions, he wisely got control of these takes and from the band members. Also features studio chit chat and banter, this is a very rare insight into how the group worked in the studio. |
Gallon Drunk - You And The Night And The Music. CD. The primal rock n rollers' second LP remastered and rereleased with seven bonus tracks including German radio sessions and a brutal nine minute live version of "Two Wings Mambo." Their confrontational and impassioned sets made them the talk of the London live circuit in the early '90's and led to worldwide support slots with P J Harvey and Morrissey as well as a Mercury Music nomination. This long out of print releas (their first album proper after the early singles collection Tonite…The Singles Bar) makes a welcome return. | Gallon Drunk - From The Heart Of Town. CD. The group third release, compounding the stripped down sleazy rock n roll they had been perfecting for the past few years. Mercury Prize nominated and adored by the music press, this 1993 album featured the saxophonist Tery Edwards who pushed forward the Stooge-like jazz noise element of the band. This remastered release features the eight b sides from the two singles and four live tracks recorded at Madison Square Gardens and Hollywood Bowl (supporting Morrissey) as bonus material. |
Gallon Drunk - Tonite The Singles Bar. CD. Originally released in 1992, this is a collection of the group's early 7" single only releases. These were the songs that brought them to the attention of the music press, startling and wildly abbrasive in nature. This remastered album has been expanded with an eight track live gig, recorded from their 1993 support tour of P J Harvey. | Diabolical Masquerade - Death's Design. CD. Fourth solo album from Katatonia mastermind Anders Blakkheim’ Nystrom. This sixty track opus is the final in his symphonic extreme metal solo-project, it was originally to appear as a movie soundtrack to a film that never materialised. Released to glowing reviews in 2001, it has a more atmospheric, epically sweeping feel to it due to the inclusion of Estonian string quartet Maalten as well as his regular guest guitarist / producer Dan Swano (Opeth, Edge Of Sanity, Bloodbath).
