Combining the dark but unapologetically humane poetry of singer Johny Brown with the instrument action of Chris Brierley (violin) and Alfie Thomas (accordion, keyboards), they were critically adored and on the covers of several music papers and magazines in their 80's heyday. Always shrouded in mystery and dressed in black, this once octet known for their signature sound and live shows, compared a million times to the Velvet Underground’s exploding plastic inevitable have made a habit of doing the unexpected. Gist - Embrace The Herd. CD. (Label: Cherry Red, Cat.No: ) Welcome reissue of long deleted 1983 album from the Gist, featuring Stuart Moxham, half of the creative force behind the much beloved Young Marble Giants, who still boast a huge international cult following. The musical minimalism crafted around these short , poignant numbers were really a continuation of Stuart Moxham's old outfit and a welcom change to the other post punk groups of the era. As well as the original studio album, the CD is also packaged with four bonus tracks.	Kurt Cobain: About A Boy OST - Various. CD. (Label: BARKUS/ADA/CINRAM, Cat.No: BARK68) Soundtrack to the new Cobain biography feature film. Journalist Michael Azerrad initially recorded over twenty five hours of interview footage for his book: "Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana." These interviews form the basis of the film. Alongside audio clips from Azerrad's archive, this album features tracks that Cobain was known to have been influenced by or Nirvana covered: Mark Lanegan, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Mudhoney, Creedence Clearwater Revival, R.E.M, Arlo Guthrie, Bad Brains, Lead Belly and more.
Robyn Hitchcock - I Often Dream Of Trains. CD. (Label: Yep Rock, Cat.No: YEP2612) This 1984 album expands upon the introspective leanings of 1981's Black Snake Diamond Role while further developing his signature lyrical imagery and spare, ominous melodies on this mostly acoustic album. Here Robyn's sharp humour sits comfortably alongside some of his most intimate ballads. Bonus tracks: "Chant/Aether", "Heart Full Of Leaves", "I Often Dream Of Trains (demo)" ," Not Even A Nurse", "Slow Chant/That's Fantastic Mother Church" and "Traveller's."	Robyn Hitchcock - Black Snake Diamond Role. CD. (Label: Yep Rock, Cat.No: YEP2611) Hitchcock's first solo release, Black Snake Diamond Role was recorded during the final days of his influential post-punk combo the Soft Boys (it even features the other three members of the group: Boys Kimberly Rew, Matthew Seligman and Morris Windsor). Originally released in 1981, this star studded release also features the Vibrators guitarist Knox, Psychedelic Furs drummer Vince Ely and soon-to-be synth-pop star Thomas Dolby. The original ten track album has been expanded with eight bonus cuts (alternative versions and demos from the same session). A real fans favouite, it is one of his most confessional releases despite the dense lyrical imagery. Bonus tracks: "Century" / "Shimmering Distant Love" / "Lovers Turn To Skulls" / "The Beauty Of Earl's Court."	Robyn Hitchcock - I Wanna Go Backwards. 5-CD Box Set. (Label: Yep! (Label: Cherry Red DVDs, Cat.No: CRDVD 164) First time ever on DVD for this compilation of rare promo and live material - featuring some tracks previously unseen on any format. From it's first major explosion in the late 1970's / early 1980's, the Gothic scene has always been most fervently supported by its many followers. It is still incredibly popular around the world, as the manycompilation albums dedicated to the genre testify. The scene has thrown up many great songs, bands and characters - many of which are featured on "In Goth Daze Volume 2".The artists included here include some of Goth's star names and stalwarts, such as Fields Of The Nephilim, Specimen, Alien Sex Fiend, Nico and Skeletal Family.
