Baltimore native Ethel Ennis is an American national treasure. Famous for being the first singer to sing the National Anthem a capella (at Richard Nixon's 1973 presidential inauguration), she was loved by Sinatra and her home city where she became cultural ambassador in the late '70's. Collected here is her 1958 RCA debut album, available on CD for the first time alongside ten non album 45's from the mid 60's. A brilliant jazz singer capable of some really warm vocal performances, this would be a fine addition to anyone's collection. Booklet includes liner notes, memorabilia and label repro's.

Formed from the ashes of Arrival and Joe Cocker’s Grease Band, Kokomo were a fantastic live act and one of the more authentic UK funk bands of the 1970's, who drew great reviews on the seminal 1975 Naughty Rhythms tour with Dr. Feelgood. Collected here are their first two albums on one disc. Often compared to the Average White Band (Kokomo were infinitely better), their stunning debut includes an extended version of Bobby Womack's "I Can Understand It" plus eight other songs. Rise and Shine! stands as the finest British funk album of the 1970s, it is the sound of a band successfully capturing their live attack in the studio something not found on any of their contemporaries releases of the mid 70's.
