Joy Unlimited - Overground. CD. This psych-tinged German crew are best-known for the 1971 progressive masterpiece Schmetterlinge (‘Butterflies’), but their 1970 debut was just as good. Confusingly released as Overground in Germany, as Turbulence in the UK and as Joy Unlimited in the United States, it’s a superb blend of psychedelia, funk and pop, boasting the powerhouse vocals of Joy Fleming, an array of guitar and organ textures and breaks and samples galore. It makes its long-overdue CD debut here, along with three rare bonus tracks, and is sure to become a firm favourite with DJs and psych-pop fans alike. | Faust / Nurse With Wound - Disconnected. CD. New studio album from the Zappi Diermaier, Jean-Hervé Peron and Amaury Cambuzat of Faust, mixed by the prolific Steve Stapleton and Colin Potter (Nursewith Wound). A successful collaboration that marries two distinct & fascinating musical identities "Disconnected" will appeal to drone/experimental fans. This is a great collaboration with some truly weird arrangements. Four tracks: "Lass Mich (13:23)", "Disconnected (11:21)", "Tu M'Entends? (14:14)" and "It Will Take Time (10:21)." |
Grobschnitt - Jumbo. CD. This classic Kraut rock band who were Germany's answer to Gong. Lush progressive early '70s rock by these German Kraut nutters! An overloked classic, housed in a digi | Lilienthal - Lilienthal. CD. First official CD release for this forward thinking electronic album. Recorded at Conny Planks studio in 1976, this was a dream project for electronic music pioneer Dieter Moebius (Harmonia / Cluster), recording with his musical soulmates: Okko Bekker and Asmus Tietchens, plus two members of Kraan and even Plank himself! Potentially a mess considering that they hadn't worked together before and all had their own musical opinions.happily, this actually turned into a top draw document of electronic music at it's most subtle and unexpectedly complex. |
Joy Unlimited - Reflections. CD. Third album (1973) of the German band from Mannheim, now with 10 bonus tracks. Progressive with a touch of jazz, blues, and ballett music. Very skilful musicians, playing flute, saxophone etc. Now with singer Ken Traylor instead of Joy Fleming. | Out Of Focus - Palermo 1972. CD. The well-known band from Munich. The best concert of their Italian tour 1972, played at the Teatro Biondo in Palermo on 26.5.1972. German progressive with strong jazz touch. With flute and organ. Top sound quality. Pinguin - Der Grosse Rote Vogel. CD. Original release 1972 and recorded Löwe-Studio, Köln (Sept-Nov 1971).Originally released by Zebra records and the sound is strongly keyboard-dominated (organist Volker Plitz composed all the tracks), but there are enough furious guitar leads to satisfy the psych-lover. Similar to other Germans prog outfits like Frumpy, Subject Esq. | Sunburned Circle - The Blaze Game. CD. Cosmic folk freaks Sunburned Hand of the Man toured Europe in September 2006 and ended up in the same room as Psych / Kraut / Hard-rockers CIRCLE in Tampere-Finland. This session was edited down to a total of 40-minutes which wanders through the worlds of free folk, psych, improv, spaced out- hippy jamming & noisy-rock bizareness. The collaboration of both America's & Finland's weirdest, is nothing less than sensational. |
