Latest additions & updates to our catalogue:
Les Rallizes Denuds - Yodo Go A Go Go (AKA Flightless Bird). CD. Seemingly endless sonic flame-throwers of phased white noise streak across your inner landscape, as stupidly loud and overly-backlit lead guitar emissions perpetrated by a perpetually be-shaded longhair pummel the similarly be-shaded but barely adequate musical backing that sags and creaks under the wattage. Occasionally, lead vocals of a singular variety are provided by said be-shaded mad axeman, whose paranoid personality ensures all songs are delivered in a voice of querulous subterranean gargling from beyond the valley of Alan Vega. My giddy aunt, whats this, then, a Meaty Beaty Big & Bouncy from the Underworld? A rough guide to Japrocks most intuitive non-career movers? Has the worlds most revolutionary rocknroll band released a compilation album of leader Mizutanis most frequently requested tracks due to overwhelming popular demand? Ja, mein hairies, this certainly seems to be the case. For, with the arrival of this superb Flightless Bird compilation, obsessive fans of Les Rallizes Denuds (are there any other kinds?) finally have a proper early career overview of Mizutani & Co. at their fingertips, a 70-minute-long super distillation of this most contrary of bands choicest musical moves executed between 1967-82, a superb sounding and partly/mostly chronological trawl through the freaked out and perpetually-yelping mindscape of singer and avant-avalanche guitarmonger Mizutani, and his sinister-yet-interchangeable pool of black clad world-to-rights acolytes." | Pyg - Pyg. CD. Pyg was formed in 1971, as a super group, by former Tigers vocalist Kenji ‘Julie’ Sawada. Made up of Sawada and former Tigers drummer Hiroshi Oguchi, plus ex-members of Group Sounds bands The Spiders and The Tempters |
Flower Travellin' Band - Satori (Mini Card Sleeve). CD. Limited Edition card gatefold Sleeve·1,000 numbered copies only version of quite possibly the best Japanese '70s psych band. This is their killer album. Imagine Country Joe And The Fish or Quicksilver with a traditional Japanese influence. THE MOST AMAZING spiralling flanged acid guitar solos interweave around perfumed fragile vocal chants as you are transported back to ancient Japan in a ship made of hallucinatory lotus blossoms. | Shark Move - Chede Chokra's Shark Move. CD. Shark Move started playing in Bandung, Indonesia in 1970 and were founded by Benny Soebardja who played lead guitar and provided the vocals. Shark Move were one of the Indonesian rock pioneers who combined western rock music with traditional harmonies and UK styled progressive sounds. Unfortunately at the end of 1970 the keyboard player passed away so Benny decided to fold the group. A very complex prog album which is as strong as many UK albums of the same period. |
Japrocksampler - By Julian Cope - Signed Copy With "Obi Strip". Book. Unique account of the Japanese rock phenomenon from a legendary rock musician with an army of fans. Julian Cope, eccentric and visionary rock musician, hip archaeologist and one time frontman of Teardrop Explodes, follows the runaway underground success of his book Krautrock sampler with Japrock sampler, a cult deconstruction of Japanese rock music. Japrock sampler reveals what really happened when East met West after World War Two and the mayhem that ensued ... and is a must for anybody interested in modern music and Japanese culture. It explores the clash between traditional, conservative Japanese values and the wild rock 'n' roll renegades of the 1960s and 70s and tells the tale of six seminal groups of artists in Japanese post-war culture, from itinerant art-house poets to violent refusenik rock groups with a penchant for plane hijacking. The book concludes with enticing reviews of Julian's Top 50 Jap Rock albums.THESE FIRST EDITIONS ARE SIGNED COPIES BY JULIAN AND HAVE AN EXCLUSIVE OBI STRIP. 304 pages . Hardback. Illustrated with seminal photographs and extraordinary Jap Rock album designs. | East - East. CD. This band of Japanese exiles released just one album, which first appeared in 1972 and makes its long-overdue CD debut here. A melodic and musicianly set featuring Japanese instruments such as the shakuhachi, koto and taisho-goto alongside the traditional trappings of Westernrock and roll, it's a hugely enjoyable collection that will appeal to all fans of Eastern tinged psychedelia. In short a lost Eastern psych classic. |

Acid Mothers Temple - US & Canadian Tour. LP. Extra super ltd multi-coloured vinyl splashings from the retrogade psychedelic, prog-rock, mind-melting modern day hippies. The first side features deranged vocals and out there guitar fx and plenty of over-indulgence.This monstrous album sounds like a scared person wandering through a collapsing factory If you hate crystals, dope, Hawkwind and outdated attire back off! 1000 for the world and only 100 in the UK so be quick!! LAST COPY ALREADY | Paul Adolphus - The Dawn Wind. CD. CD version of the album by Australian artist Paul Adolphus who recorded this album in Kyoto/Japan. Quoth he: "My first visit to Japan was in 1968 after living in India and Sri Lanka. I was playing music with different people, then developed a musical relationship with Mitsu Harada. We did concerts and toured to other cities in Japan together. Before leaving Japan Mitsu organised to record the album together. Mitsu engineered as well as playing. I think there were 200 copies pressed, the covers were hand made, so it was released into the small arts community of Kyoto and Tokyo. Incredibly rare and sought after mellow folk album with beautiful songs and harmonies, like a Japanese version of Extradition. |
Anak Bayan - Anak Bayan. CD. Pinoy is a synonym used by Filipinos for their compatriots in the Philippines and around the world. In the first seventies the Philippines had a surprisingly good rock scene, also known as (classic) Pinoy-Rock. Bands as Juan de la Cruz, Anak Bayan, Mike Hanopol and many others where heavily influenced by growing prog rock scene from abroad but created somethingtruly unique. Any adventurous listener that approached this genre was surprised by the inspired, fresh sounds of theserecords, and if you do not already know Pinoy rock, this is your record!all CD's are housed in 1:1 LP sleeves with faithful reproductions ofthe original artwork limited and numbered print. | Acid Mothers Temple - Crystal Magic Pyramid Under The Stars. CD. Brand new album for 2007 from the Temple and The Melting Pariso UFO, featuring their recent addition Kitagawa Hao on vocals. A surprising release as it has to be their cleanest ever production , a much more controlled affair than the speaker shredding moments of the past, this is made up of mystic ambient passages alongside their constatnly evolving heavyweight jams. One of their recent classic releases. |
