Discovered via an industry friend by Rolling Stones manager/guru Andrew Loog Oldham, who gave her a Jagger/Richards song, (‘Some Things’) Vashti was put in the studio to record the song accompanied by a full orchestra. The second disc comprises the entire, unaltered contents of a long-forgotten tape discovered at the last minute before mastering, whilst Vashti was searching for one of the master reels for disc one. REGION 0. Two decades after Pentangle dominated the music scene of the late sixties and early seventies, McShee is still creating a sound that is genuinely original, this time through her own project, Jaqui McShee’s Pentangle. The band perform many high points from their history (Cruel Sister, The Wife of Usher’s Well, Lovely Joan as well as the traditional standards like She Moved Through The Fair), thriving on the improvisational nature of their playing. The combination of jazz and folk music has never sounded so natural, the two great examples of the people’s music meeting in one thrilling whole. Twelve tracks in all.
