Eleven tracks including: "Life Was So Simple", "Did Me In", "Endless Fight" and "Fried."

(Label: Kemado, Cat.No: KEM040)

Sheavy - Republic?. DVD.
(Label: Rise Above Records, Cat.No: SHEAVY001DVD)

Click for large image DVD filmed at the Masonic Temple Ballroom in St John's, Newfoundland, Canada. A unique performance filmed in front of an invited audience of 80 people only, with the band set up in the ballroom with no stage, just drums and amps in the middle of the floor covered in flags proclaiming the independence of the Republic Of Newfoundland!! With the audience surrounding the band in a cosy, intimate environment, this became a performance not dissimilar to some of the great 'happenings' of the late 60s/early 70s, something the band with their classic rock influences have obviously wished to recreate. And they did!! Region 0 PAL disc. DVD of the month.

Monster Magnet - Tab. CD.
(Label: SPV, Cat.No: SPV99652)

Click for large image About bloody time too!! Wyndorf and Co's first slice of prime fuzzadelic stoner sludge space metaaal, recorded at the same time as their debut full-length mantelpiece 'Spine Of God' (although this so-called EP is actually just as long). Although little more than a series of extended space jams (like that ever stopped the first four Hawkwind albums from being good) smeared in layers of fuzz guitar and flanged vocal, the album nevertheless dispays the roots of everything that would help the Magnet flower into one of the 90s and 00s premier hard rock acts. It WAS a Satanic drug thing, and quite clearly, 'they' didn't understand. Includes one previously unreleased bonus track.

Soilent Green - Sewn Mouth Secrets/String Of Lies (Deluxe Ed). CD.
(Label: Relapse, Cat.No: RR66552)

Click for large image A classic album of swampy grooves and tempo downshifts, that established the band as innovators and Ben Falgoust as a natural successor to, if not superior to, Phil Anselmo. This deluxe edition comes replete with the crushingly painful 'String Of Lies' mini CD, one of the band's first releases and long deleted until now.

Pet Sounds - RPM Sampler (Various). CD.
(Label: RPM, Cat.No: RPM2001)

Click for large image RPM has been operating in its own corner of the collectors market for 10 years and it is high time more people in the world know this. So we present for the first time ever a sampler of the delights to be found on the label. The selection runs in chronological order from 1960 onwards taking the listener through a range of sounds from pre-Beatles pop to mod/r&b to Brit girl, to psychedelia & freakbeat, to soundtracks, to harmony sunshine pop to singer songwriter.A listener will hear a bit of cult soundtracks A Teenage Opera and Girl On A Motorcycle, something of legendary 60's figures Shel Talmy, Mark Wirtz, Joe Meek, also Lemmy's first band, Steve Howe's first band, Ritchie Blackmore guitar, oh and a couple of Top 40 hits. In its own way it's a pocket sound guide to the 60's scene. Presented in RPMs trademark poster inlay packaging with details of every release sampled and designed by RPM acolyte Phil Smee at Waldos.

Cathedral - Garden Of Unearthly Delights (Digipak Ltd Ed). CD.
(Label: Nuclear Blast, Cat.No: NB1199DP)

Click for large image 2005- released, brain shredding classic from possibly the world's leading exponents of crushing, groovesome doom metal. Most bands would have run out of steam after 15 years, but Cathedral just get better and better and more and more metal every time. This time, though, Messrs Dorrian, Smee & Co have not only piled on the heaviosity on tracks like 'North Berwick Witch Trials' and 'Tree Of Life And Death' (hence the employment of former Down and Crowbar producer Warren Ryker) but also stretched out into the most progressive territory they have yet traversed with the 27-minute opus 'The Garden'. Into the woods, my children. . . Limited edition digipak with bonus tracks of dooooooooooooom.

Bongzilla - Amerijuanican. CD.
(Label: Relapse, Cat.No: RR65482)

Click for large image Another year, another Bongzilla album. What does it sound like? Er, it's heavy, slow, full of fat, oppressive riffs and shrieking, demonic vocals, it's meant to be played extremely LOUD and the lyrical subject matters may have something to do with certain herbs and crops. It has to be said, this lot are the most stoned of all stoner bands and they seriously fucking mean it!! So biff a big one, and make sure that at some point you're prepared to sit with your head forward between your legs, clutching your forehead between your thumb and index finger whilst repeatedly asking people not to talk to you. It will pass, be seated! You have done something to your brain. You have made it high. St Peter preached the Epistles to the Apostles in a suit like that. (OK, Stop right there with the Withnail quotes already- Student Hating Ed)
