Dillard & Clark - Fantastic Expedition/Through The Morning, Through The Night. CD. (A&M Records - 5409752) Two stone-cold classics (from 1969 & 70) on a single CD. Both albums are absolutely essential for any fan of country/folk music especially its development out of the 1960s and the birth of country-rock. The core group of former Byrd Gene Clark and ex-Dillard banjo player Doug Dillard is augmented with a whole host of stars.8 page colour booklet rounds off the release. Seriously recommended!

Humble Pie - Smokin'. CD. (A&M Records - SR 40303022) Fine album from 1972 which display's (new boy at the time) Clem Clempson's guitar off to the max on the rockin' "30 Day's in the Hole", and the gentle side of the man on the cover of "Roadrunner" which stretches out into a tremendous studio jam.Classic Pie.

James Burton - The Guitar Sounds Of James Burton. CD. (A&M Records - 5405532) Most associated with the King himself, Elvis Presley, whom he toured and recorded with as guitarist from the 60s onwards, Burton's solo material is often overlooked-possibly due to the paucity of it- but still requires your attention. Other than his collaboration with Ralph Mooney in 1969, this is his sole solo release: originally released in 1971, now finally available on CD. Of the tracks, most are somehow connected to Elvis' repertoire, (alongside versions of more 'contemporary' hits such as' Polk Salad Annie'(sunning fuzz guitar work) and 'Delta Lady' but are made the more pleasant for being able to appreciate the full power of Burton's tasteful twang and show's what a stunning guitar player he is as these are instrumental versions.Most enjoyable.

Joe Cocker - Mad Dogs And Englishmen. Dble CD. (A&M Records - 9886006) 2 disc 35th anniversary set of classic live album from Sheffield's finest. This is the album that gave the world 'Delta Lady' (possibly the greatest middle 8 ever in a song?) his emotionally charged rendition of Alex Chilton's "The Letter" and Rita Coolidge's rendition of Bonnie Bramlett's 'Superstar', later covered by everyone from the Carpenters to Sonic Youth. The lineup included more musicians than one could possibly shake a stick at, most notably Leon Russell (who composed 'Delta Lady'), Coolidge, Chris Stainton, Jim Price, Bobby Keys, Jim Gordon, Glyn Johns, Don Preston. . .the list is simply jawdropping. This was an age when one didn't 'cover' a song, one interepreted it: thus the 'interpretations' of 'Honky Tonk Women' and 'She Came In Through The Bathroom Window' here are handled so expertly by Cocker that they almost become his own. A timeless, classic album.

Monster Magnet - Dopes To Infinity. CD. (A&M Records - 540 315 2) Now at Mid Price! The first of the new stoner-rock bands. It doesn't get much better than this with massive space rock guitar riffs and tripped out lyrics.... A classic of the genre and back in stock finally ! A stonker!!

Monster Magnet - Greatest Hits. Dble CD. (A&M Records - 9808195) Ltd edition 2 disc set which is a comprehensive overview of the 'Major Label', career of the stoner lords. From "Tractor" to "Dopes To Infinity" through to"Melt" this CD defines 'Stoner Rock' and shows this band really did inherit Black Sabbath's strung out legacy.The second disc has rare B-sides and video's for your PC including the explicit version of "Heads Explode" alongside 7 others. Magnificent

Strawbs - Bursting At The Seams. CD. (A&M Records - 540 936-2) 1973 album that broke the Strawbs nationally. This was not as you would expect a straight forward rock affair, but one that dabbled in progressive and psychedelic textures whilst giving us some excellent hit singles such as "Lay Down" (written after eating Magic Mushrooms!) and the totally unrepresentative "Part Of The Union" (for which the band are remembered...). Now remastered with three bonus tracks and annotation by Dave Cousins.

Strawbs - From The Witchwood. CD. (A&M Records - 540 939-2) Much underrated UK band who mixed eastern sitar sounds with English folk and rock, whilst keeping a keen melodic sensibility. This stunner from 1971, featured the keyboard talents of Rick Wakeman and is a landmark electric folk rock album. Digitally remastered with a previously unreleased bonus track and new sleeve notes by Dave Cousins....

Strawbs - Grave New World. CD. (A&M Records - 540 934-2) Great mid-price release of the Strawbs' 1972 master work, packed with classic songs, instrumentation and eastern spiritual imagery. Mixing equal parts folk, psych and progressive rock, this has been remastered with two extra tracks and full sleeve notes by Dave Cousins and John Tobler. "Queen of Dreams" is an undiscovered psych classic full of backwards guitar work!!

Strawbs - Hero And Heroine. CD. (A&M Records - 540 935-2) The Strawbs eighth album from 1974 showed no signs that the bands creative juices were drying up. Moving in a more progressive rock direction but retaining a lyrical folk edge, the album contains the beautiful "Autumn" as well as the frantic title track. A richly threaded melodic progressive rock tapestry that has a haunting timeless quality.Digitally remastered and contains 2 bonus tracks and an 8 page detailed booklet

T- Rex - Electric Warrior. CD. (A&M Records - 541 007-2) Marc Bolan 's first No. 1 album from 1971, was released as he relinquished his ties with the UK underground and re-invented himself as teenage glam hero. As a result the album beautifully combines both styles. Includes the smash hits "Get It On" and "Jeepster", the infectious "Cosmic Dancer" and acoustic ballad "Girl". One of Marc's most immediate and appealing albums and some say his best... Bargain Price!

T- Rex - T- Rex (Remastered). CD. (A&M Records - 9822513) Digital re-master of their 1970 album, and the first to feature their shortened monicker, this features more of an electric guitar/rock format than their initial Tyrannosaurus Rex albums, without completely abandoning their acoustic guitar/bongo hippie roots. Includes "The Children Of Rarn", "Jewel", "One Inch Rock" and a great 8+ minute reworking of his 1965 45 "The Wizard". Contains 9 bonus tracks, slipcase and 14 page booklet.

Tyrannosaurus Rex - My People Were Fair & Had Sky In Their Hair (Remastered). CD. (A&M Records - 9822509) Digital re-master of the debut album from 1968, recorded shortly after Bolan had left John's Children. On offer is a selection of fine acoustic hippie-folk-rock-pop, that captures a child-like innocence and evokes a dreamy underground atmosphere. Includes the catchy "Mustang Ford" (a reworking of an old J.C. number "Go Go Girl"), as well as "Child Star", "Scenescof" and "Frowning Atahuallpa (My Inca Love)".Slipcase edition that contains 4 bonus tracks plus the stereo mix of the album and a hefty 14 page detailed booklet.

Tyrannosaurus Rex - Prophets, Seers & Sages (remastered). CD. (A&M Records - 9822510) Digital remaster of the second album from 1968, is chock full of wistful, pastoral mushroom tunes that adhered them to and identified them with the UK underground scene. Backed by Steve Peregrine Took's enthusiastic bongos, Marc Bolan's acoustic guitar and elfin vocals shine out like the sun on a spring sunrise, with "Deboraarobed" being particularly mesmeric.This slipcased remaster contains 14 bonus tracks and a detailed 14 page booklet.

Tyrannosaurus Rex - Unicorn (remastered). CD. (A&M Records - 9822511) Digital re-master of the third album from 1969 and arguably the finest of Bolan's acoustic period, with gentle almost mystical lyrics, sleepy rhythms and a laid back "dancing with the faieries" vibe. Includes "Catblack (The Wizard's Hat)", "Stones For Avalon", "Misty Coast Of Alabany" and the evocative "She Was Born To Be My Unicorn". Slipcased version that contains 15 bonus tracks and re-stored artwork in a 14 page booklet.
