"Feeling Alright With The Crew" is the first ever DVD to feature one of Punk’s most popular and stalwart bands, 999. Formed in May 1977 the band were signed by United Artists and went on to establish a strong fan base not only in UK but to a large extent in the U.S.A. The band went on to sign for Polydor and enjoyed continued popularity throughout the early 1980’s.Singer Nick Cash was previously a member of Kilburn And The High Roads with a pre-Blockheads Ian Dury. "Feelin’ Alright With The Crew" captures the band live at the legendary Klub Foot in April 1984. Amongst the tracks featured are "Homicide" (a UK top forty hit in November 1978), and the acclaimed tracks "Nasty Nasty" and "Emergency". Bonus material is included in the form of tracks taken from the band’s appearance at the Holidays In The Sun festival held in Blackpool during 1996.
This is the first ever DVD to feature The Adicts, one of Punk's most colourful and entertaining bands. The DVD is packed with great Adicts footage, beginning with the original promo clips for "Joker In The Pack" and "Viva La Revolution", two of the bands most popular tracks. Also featured are two fantastic live sets, with the band at their very best. "Live At The Manhattan Club" captures the band during their summer 1983 tour, during which they celebrated cracking the national chart with the single "Bad Boy", a performance of which is featured during the gig. "Up Yer Tower" features a live performance from Blackpool's world famous Tower Ballroom, during the venue's 1982 punk festival. Many of the bands hits, including "Steamroller" and "Too Young", are presented before a frenzied audience.
Hankies at the ready. . .Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell, aka Air Supply, are back, they're in your town and practically every song's a ballad. The band who make Journey, Toto, Les Holroyd's BJH and REO Speedwagon sound like Flipper, Bad Brains, Napalm Death and Anal Cunt by comparison, possibly the ultimate name in soft rock and the doyen of a million 80s arenas. Actually, in all seriousness, it's easy to poke fun but the truth is that Hitchcock and Russell are great songwriters and masters of the melodic craft, no more, no less. This DVD was filmed on their reunion tour in 2004, and shows they've lost none of their old magic as they treat an enraptured (or 'rapt' as they say Down Under) audience to 'Even The Nights Are Better' 'Lost In Love' 'Every Woman In The World' 'Here I Am' 'Sweet Dreams' 'Making Love Out Of Nothing At All' (a personal favourite of your scribe) and of course 'All Out Of Love', the song that ate everybody in the early 80s out of Kleenex!! The fact is, 25 years on, there's still no-one that does this kinda stuff better. Wanna learn to write a classic love song? Buy this, listen up, and watch very very carefully!!
The first ever DVD to feature one of the Gothic scene’s most enigmatic and enduringly popular bands, Alien Sex Fiend. Emerging from the early 1980’s Punk Goth movement, Alien Sex Fiend soon became leaders of the genre, gaining a substantial following both at home and around the world. The band are extremely popular in Germany and the far east and have toured with rock luminary Alice Cooper."Edit / Overdose" combines 2 films which feature a mixture of promo, live and conceptual material. The films were made during the band’s mid-eighties heyday, and include tracks from live shows in Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool & Birmingham. Amongst the tracks featured across the two segments are Indie Chart top ten hits Ignore The Machine, R.I.P. and I’m Doing Time In A Maximum Security Twilight Home. Indie Chart top twenty hits I Walk The Line (yes, that one) and Hurricane Fighter Plane are also included. The band are still recording and touring to this day, and Edit / Overdose will be a must have for all members of their ever-loyal fanbase.
The second DVD release of one of the most enduring and enigmatic bands to have emerged from the Goth and darkwave explosions in the UK. Fronted by 'Nik Fiend' (aka Nik Wade) ASF were one of the bands that defined the genre (one of the few NOT from Leeds) in its early days, and were popular in the UK, Germany and Japan. This disc was filmed partially in Tokyo (as the title suggests) and partly in their homeland, and includes such faves as 'Ignore The Machine' 'RIP' 'Dead And Buried' and 'EST'. For those with dark hearts and putrid souls. Region 0 PAL disc.
Debut DVD release from one of the most influential bands of the 77/78 punk wave- Alternative TV, who were led by Mark Perry, founder of 'Sniffin Glue' magazine and possibly the archetype of the 'do it yourself punk ethos'. The performances on this disc are compiled from a plethora of sources- namely Blackpool's 'Holidays In The Sun' festival, and London's infamous 100 Club, Chat's Place and Dublin Castle venues, and feature 'Action Time Vision' 'Love Lies Limp' 'You Bastard' and 'Splitting In Two' itself. An indepth interview with Perry is also featured. Region 0 PAL disc.
A raucous live set from the South Shields punkers' 1997 tour, still every bit as angry, annoyed and right on the nose as ever they were. Mensi and the Toon lads blast 'howay' through 'Murder Of Liddle Towers' 'Never Ad Nothin' 'I'm An Upstart' 'Teenage Warning' 'Two Million Voices' 'Police Oppression' 'Soldier' and more. All captured for the first time on a glorious Region 0 PAL DVD!!! A cover of 'White Riot' is totally unneccessary- the band's own songs are strong enough- but buying this is very necessary indeed. About as punk and disorderly as it's possible to get.
The first ever Belle Stars Region 0 DVD commercially available. No, don't laugh- they were formed from the ashes of the Bodysnatchers, after all. This show was recorded in 1983 at the height of their popularity (actually shortly before they broke up!) and includes 'Sign Of The Times', a topical pop song that graced the Top 10 and still sounds great today, as well as 'Mockingbird' 'Crime Of Passion' 'Sweet Memory' and the inevitable 'Clapping Song'. Takes one back to those heady days of student sit- ins, faux-lesbian haircuts, Red Wedge, Hackney Council squats, and deelyboppers- or, if you were the age of certain Freak Emporium writers, sitting on the bus to school substituting the words 'Rubber johnny' for 'Rubber dolly'. And yes, we all did it, so don't even think about trying to deny it. . .
Live performance from the Town And Country Club in London 1990. Teaming up with Sandinista session man and punk rock DJ Don Letts, Leo Williams, Greg Roberts and Dan Donovan, this was Mick Jones' next group after falling out with Joe Strummer. Their blend of rock, reggae, hip-hop, beatbox rhythms and hi-tech samples pre-empted the dance revolution and set a new standard in music production values. This mesmerising eight track performance includes many of the bands experimental classcis.
Fronted by the twin vocal power of Tony Burke and Julie Hadwin, who divided the rock and blues parts equally between them, BSA were formed in 1983 and became a noted force on the London underground concert circuit, even gaining a hit single with 'This House Is Where Your Love Stands' in 1984. Sadly, they spllit during their one and only UK tour in 1984: this DVD features them as they scaled those dizzy heights, and is fine stuff. Region 0 PAL.
Punk legend, garage revivalist, guitarist, singer, songwriter, author, producer, poet, sculptor, painter, cultural icon and one-man creation machine Billy Childish epitomises the DIY spirit of TRUE punk, garage and 'indie' like no-one else. Since 1978 he has recorded over 100 albums in various incarnations, ALL of which have been on his own labels, led The Pop Rivets, Thee Milkshakes, Thee Headcoats, Thee Mighty Caesars and now The Buff Medways, influenced everyone from Nirvana and Mudhoney to Guitar Wolf and the White Stripes, created a style of music (the 'Medway Sound') an art movement ('Stuckism') been a name on ex-partner Tracey Emin's infamous tent, painted over 2000 works of art, and published 2 novels and 30-plus volumes of poetry, as well as being one of the hardest-gigging musicians anywhere in the world. Not bad for a dyslexic who still lives in Chatham and signs on!! What a bloke. This DVD is the first ever of its kind, offering a fascinating insight into the life and career of this up till now intensely private and shy person, with interviews from admirers Shane McGowan and Larry Clark and collaborator Holly Golightly among other, and 35 minutes of bonus footage including rare live performance archives. Must be owned.
This DVD features Billy leading two of his longer lasting musical projects, "Thee Headcoats" and "Thee Milkshakes" through sets which perfectly display the lo-fi garage rock that Billy has made his musical trademark. Full of charm and raw energy, the sets show just why Billy is loved by his army of followers. The Milkshakes set is from the Notttingham all dayer in 1984 while the Headcoates set is from the early 90's recorded Live at The Pickett.
The first band ever to appear on Top Of The Pops in 1996, Bis were a brilliant mix of DIY, New Wave Dance Pop. All of their twenty British songles feature here, aggresively childish and highly annoying in the eyes of the mainstream. Despite the backash, they continued to find success in other countries beofre splitting in 2003. This is their first ever best of collection, the DVD features their nine promo videos.
The first ever Region 0 PAL DVD release from this band, one of the great duos of the early 80s synth-pop scene, and a true 'Butch Voice' band if ever there was one. This set was filmed live at the Hacienda in Manchester in 1982, shortly after their signing to London Records and their breakthrough album 'Happy Families', and includes 'Living On The Ceiling' 'God's Kitchen' 'Feel Me' 'Waves' 'Sad Day' (their first ever single, released on Some Bizarre) and several others. No relation to Crème Brulee.
Archive footage from the jazz rock fusion groups 1980 reunion gig recorded in Halifax, UK. Originally formed by Al Kooper with him as the clear leader, he was replaced by David Clayton-Thomas before the decade was out. Their three subsequent LPs were all big sellers but fears that they were selling out led to their split in '78. Almost immediately they were back and touring again, selling out shows wherever they played. Twelve track live performance, featuring their hits: "And When I Die", "You Make Me So Very Happy" and "Hi De Ho."
The first ever DVD of this popular but often sadly forgotten UK pop act of the mid to late 80s, best known for their hit 'Digging Your Scene', who had a further nine UK top 40 hit singles and released four successful albums between 1986 and 1990. This Region 0 DVD features a full show played by the band in London on the eve of the release of their album 'Animal Magic'.
Surprisingly, given an artist of his stature, there ain't very many Bobby Womack DVDs around. That's why this is such a welcome release- nine songs from the various highpoints of this soul legend's career stretching across three decades. The early hits are there, such as 'It's All Over Now' and 'Lookin' For A Love' , but there's also his country music foray 'Happy Hippie' and his collaboration with the Crusaders, "Inherit The Wind". Red hot steaming soul from the seduction master.
The first ever DVD to feature a true headline band from the first wave of UK punk - The Boys. The Boys formed in London in 1976. Guitarist "Honest" John Plain, a factory worker, recruited fellow employees Duncan "Kid" Reid on vocals and bass and Jack Black on drums; they were joined by guitarist Matt Dangerfield and keyboardist Casino Steel (formerly of legendary glamsters the Hollywood Brats)They debuted with the single "I Don't Care," followed by their self-titled debut LP (the band were the first from the UK punk scene to sign a full album deal with a major label). The band's second single "FirstTime" garnered major critical acclaim and a large fanbase began to build in the UK and Europe. Two further albums followed before the band split in the early 1980's. However, the band's fanbase would not let them go, and demand led to a reunion in 1999, which is going strong to present day and has included tours around the world."Kamikaze" features two full shows from the band, the first a previously unseen show from a UK tour in 1980 and the second a show in Germany from the reunion tour in 2001. Amongst the tracks featured are Independent Chart top forty hits "Kamikaze" and "Terminal Love". The DVD will be serviced to all major music and DVD press, along with all Boys and related websites.
As the Seventies drew to a close and the media declared punk dead and buried, a whole new breed of band was emerging from the gutter. Harder and faster than their 76-77 predecessors, not to mention more aggressive and political, the likes of Discharge, The Exploited and GBH were to prove not only more relevant but arguably just as influential.Burning Britain The DVD provides a unique visual insight into some of the main players in the second wave of UK punk. A mix of promo videos and, in many cases, extremely rare live material from the likes of The Exploited, GBH, The Destructors, Peter And The Test Tube Babies and many others, the DVD documents the raw passion and creativity that fired the UK punk scene during the first half of the 1980’s.
The Business formed in 1979, and went on to become one of the leading bands of the second wave of UK Punk Rock. The band were often seen as the leaders of the Oi movement, closely associated with Punk. The original line-up went on to record several classic anthems, including "Suburban Rebels" and "Harry May". A modified line-up then went on to further eighties notoriety with singles "Smash The Discos" and "Drinking And Driving".After an extended break from recording and touring, the band’s current line-up came together in 1994, and is still going strong to the present day, playing to adoring fans all over the world. This DVD features the band at their snarling live best, with a full show from their 1998 UK tour. "Singing Rule Britannia - The Chameleons Live" is the second Cherry Red Records DVD to feature the mighty Chameleons, one of the most intense and charismatic bands to emerge from the burgeoning Manchester scene of the early 1980’s. The DVD contains two shows featuring the band at their best:: including "Live At The Camden Palace" a full show from London’s Camden Palace in the mid-eighties. Amongst the tracks featured are Independent Chart top twenty hits 'In Shreds' and 'Singing Rule Britannia (While The Walls Close In)'."Arsenal" is a mixture of interviews, imagery and excellent live performance, and a somewhat rare film that has become an important and much sought after document of the band: here it is on DVD for the first time.
Another first for DVD, Chelsea are one of Punk’s most celebrated bands. Formed in 1977, the band was fronted by Punk legend Gene October - the original 'angry young man' of the genre. Chelsea had a strong social conscience, with songs concentrated on the challenging economic climate of the late seventies and early eighties Britain. The band were a raucous live presence : constantly on the edge and with a fanatical following all over the country. 'Live At The Bier Keller”'features the band in typically aggressive and entertaining form at Blackpool’s notorious Bier Keller club, and includes the Indie Chart top thirty hits 'Rockin’ Horse' and 'Evacuate' and the band’s most celebrated, set closing anthem 'Right To Work'.
Excellent quality live and in yer face DVD from Philadelphia sleaze metallers (once described, maybe somewhat unfairly, as 'the best AC/DC tribute band ever') recorded at the time of their third and biggest-selling album 'Heartbreak Station' in 1990. At this point, Keifer, Brittingham, Coury and LeBar looked poised to conquer the world: little did they know that a year later some recalcitrant floppy haired miscreant from Aberdeen, Washington would come along and ruin it for everybody. Ah well. For a while though, Cinders and their kind ruled the roost, the world was full of thigh-boot clad, lacy-bloused girls called Rachel and Kerri, and at least one member of the Freak Emporium staff was happy!! Includes "The More Things Change" "Night Songs" "Somebody Save Me" "Heartbreak Station" "Falling Apart At The Seams" "Don't Know What You Got" "Nobody's Fool" "Gypsy Road" "Shake Me" "Shelter Me"- ah, them were the days!! Pure muthafukin' RAWK, mate. Kids today with their sidepartings and their Atreyu t-shirts don't know they're born, etc etc. . .
Second DVD in a series featuring one of the most uncompromising and unpleasant punk bands of all time- Conflict. 'Live In England' features the band taking their message out across the country, in particular Newcastle and Leeds, and the latter performance is particulary sought after by punk collectors as they are joined onstrage by Steve Ignorant from Crass. Also included are a host of extras with interviews, bonus tracks, clips from other gigs, behind the scenes footage, photo galleries and press clips. Conflict would like to let it be known, by the way, that they despise capitalism and all it stands for. . .
The first DVD to feature this overlooked Freakbeat combo from the 60's. With the focus mainly on their 1990s reformation, the film captures the band as they prepare to play their first gig in almost thirty years, at London's Mean Fiddler. Featuring five tracks from the first reunion in 1993 and then a full set of 16 tracks recorded in 1995 at the same venue and includes great versions of "Biff Bang Pow", "Painter Man", "Hey Joe", MakingTime","Batman" etc. PAL/Region 0.
First ever DVD release to feature live footage of this most quirky, eccentric and iconoclastic of late 80s/early 90s indie bands, fronted by the slightly loopy Carl Puttnam, an Essex boy lost in Leeds. Obviously much beloved of John Peel (and David Gedge, who signed them), they soon excelled on- where else- the Northern college circuit, where this footage was recorded. Taken from two incendiary gigs on their Winter 1989 tour (Leeds and Bradford, unsurprisingly) and featuring the type of skewed 'anarcho-romantic' pop they made their own on tracks such as 'Only A Prawn In Whitby' 'Van Van Van' 'Art' 'I've Had It With Blondes' and 'Robinson Crusoe'. The Bradford material has never to this date been seen, making this disc an even more essential purchase.
The first ever DVD to feature Britain’s queen of Psychedelia, Danielle Dax. A performer whose enigmatic and experimental work reflected the strong influence of Biblical mysticism and Middle Eastern musical textures, Danielle Dax was born in Southend, England. She made her musical debut in 1979 as the keyboardist in the seven-piece Amy Turtle and the Crossroads; and then went on to front the Lemon Kittens. Upon the Lemon Kittens' 1982 split, Dax mounted a solo career. She debuted a year later with Pop-Eyes, a true solo effort for which she wrote and performed every song alone, even handling mixing and production duties and distributing the record through her own Awesome label. While her heavy makeup and colossal hair aligned her with the thriving "Batcave" Goth scene, she steadfastly avoided easy pigeonholing, even making the leap into film with appearance's in Neil Jordan's Brithorror hit The Company of Wolves. Dax returned to music in 1984 with the Jesus Egg That Wept EP, and went on to recruit a live band, emerging as a significant concert draw; a series of singles including 1985's "Yummer Yummer Man," 1986's "Where the Flies Are," 1988's "Cat-House" and 1989's "White Knuckle Ride" - each slightly more commercial than the last - also established her as a force on the independent charts, and after the success of 1987's 'Inky Bloaters' LP, she signed to Sire. 'Bad Miss M' captures a full show Danielle played in London at the height of her mid-1980’s solo success. Amongst the tracks featured are the aforementioned 'Yummer Yummer Man'.
The first ever DVD to feature perhaps Britain’s best known doo-wop vocal group, Darts. Bursting upon London’s clubs in the late 1970’s, Darts proved a very popular live act with unique versions of classic early US rock n roll and r n b songs. The band were eventually signed to Magnet Records, where their debut single 'Daddy Cool / The Girl Can’t Help It' stormed into the UK top ten. The band went on to become extremely successful with their next three singles all going to number two in UK chart. In less than three years they scored seven top twenty singles and three top twenty albums, becoming one of the UK’s most loved acts. 'Daddy Cool' features the band doing what they did best, performing live before an adoring crowd during a UK tour from the early 1980’s. Amongst the tracks featured are UK top ten hits 'Daddy Cool / The Girl Can’t Help It', 'Boy From New York City' and 'Get It'. As Paul Merton once said, 'V-doo V-doo. . .'
A full length documentary on the history of the Anarcho punk movement 1980 - 1984. Dead Kennedys are possibly, next to Ramones and Black Flag, the greatest American punk band. Their Cherry Red album "Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables" has sold over 150,000 copies in the UK alone. This is one of the bands last ever live concerts before their break-up in 1984. There were only 2 concerts in the bands history that were captured on film, so footage of them is very rare. First ever DVD feature by one of the key second-wave UK punk bands. Recorded over a twenty year period, it features footage of the band playing and living hard in Prague, Oslo, Newcastle, Bournemouth and more. Thought by many to be a short lived group due to their venomous attitude, this DVD represents just how wrong their doubters were. Thirty one tracks including: "A Prayer For Cliff Richard", "Every 8 Seconds", "Joleen" and "Fuck Your Nationality."
The first ever DVD to feature one of the great Punk bands of all time - D.O.A. It wasn't long before punk rock expanded beyond just New York City, London, and Los Angeles during the mid-late '70s, as evidenced by the emergence of the long-running Vancouver, Canada based outfit, D.O.A. Originally formed in 1978, D.O.A. has been led from the beginning by singer/guitarist Joe Keithley, aka 'Joey Shithead,' who has been joined by a wide variety of other bandmates through the years. The same year as their formation, D.O.A. issued a debut EP, Disco Sucks, before following it up with a pair of full lengths that many longtime fans consider D.O.A.'s classic recordings, 1980's Something Better Change and 1981's Hardcore '81. Since the beginning Keithley has been unafraid to voice his political opinions (a renown D.O.A. slogan among their faithful is 'TALK-ACTION 0') which, at one point, landed him in jail. D.O.A. would go on to issue albums throughout the '80s and '90s (including such highlights as 1982's War on 45, 1985's The Dawning of a New Error, 1993's Loggerheads, etc.). Keithley also runs his own indie record company, Sudden Death Records, and issued an autobiography in late 2003, titled 'I, Shithead: A Life in Punk.' D.O.A. continues strong to this day, as evidenced by such releases as 2002's Win the Battles. As a result of Keithley's hard work, D.O.A. is often name checked as an important influence by otherhardcore/punk bands, including such notables as Green Day, the Offspring, Rancid, and Propagandhi, among others. "Positively D.O.A" features a full show from the band during their 1984 tour of the UK.
Another 'first' from the Punk Collectors series, Cherry Red are proud to present the first ever DVD- a 2005 release- of legendary Mancunian punksters The Drones, who alongside The Buzzcocks and Slaughter & The Dogs formed the crux of that city's 1976 punk scene. Veterans of Peel sessions, punkette sleeves and classic songtitles such as "Temptations Of A White Collar Worker" and "I Just Wanna Be Myself". This DVD- titled "Further Temptations" like their album and featuring the same cover art- features them in their ideal surroundings, on stage. Taken from three shows on their 1996 reunion tour, it shows they have lost none of their original verve, snot or spit.

This newly issued DVD of the Essex pub-punk luminaries' onstage action features material from two different live shows, both recorded during their 1996 reunion tour, which still show the band at their spiky, souped-up r'n'b best. Later known as The Rods (not to be confused with the US metal band of the same name), Eddie's mob were one of the forerunners of punk rock's first wave, their bluesy style paving the way for The Damned and The Pistols. Named after their best known song, this disc features all of their popular material plus newer cuts, a whole London gig plus never before issued footage live from Carlisle. 21 tracks, 16 pounds- a bargain, guvnor!!!

Bonus material includes footage of the band in the studio recording a rehearsing new material.
ACHTUNG!!!! Der new buildings zey are kollapsink upon mein kopf!! Such a statement may sound like utter nonsense but accurately describes not only the translation of the name of these German industrial pioneers, but also the sound made by their uncompromising, groundbreaking music. A fascinating, sometimes unlistenable (in the best way, of course) combination of clanging rhythmic noise (produced by both drum machines and genuine industrial materials such as power drills), white noise guitar fuzz and the gurgling vocals of Blixa Bargeld, at last available for the first time on DVD!! Not a live show, but 10 promo videos of visual art combining to make up a full-length film made by the band at the time of the classic album 'Halber Mensch'. Stunningly unconventional, and essential for fans of a band whose music is visual by definition..
Twenty seven track live DVD released for the first time on this format. Featuring two gigs from '94 and '96. A interesting document to the bands eventual metamorphosis into Janus Stark, the first gig featuring guitar virtuoso Gizz Butt before he moved onto playing live with the Prodigy. Packed with hardcore riffing, hyper aggressive songs and spearheading the punk/metal crossover, this is essential Psycho Killer material who are sadly missed. Featuring: "The Hanging Wanker", "Bastard", "Shoot Your Own Head Off" and "Die Waiting."
A stunning document of this groundbreaking band, who still have a hold over all those who first heard them back in 1974, not to mention those who have come to them since. This PAL DVD features two live performances, both from the year 1984; the "Claret Hall Farm" performance staged specially for the fans (in the band's home/studio) and the last ever "Stonehenge Free Festival", filmed during the Solstice. This is a beautiful document which displays Robert John Godfrey's awesome creativity along with offering an insight into his personal philosophy.
At last! A DVD featuring one of Punk’s most explosive, uncompromising and powerful bands, The Exploited. The DVD features two Exploited treats - "Rock & Roll Outlaws" and "Sexual Favours". "Rock & Roll Outlaws" is an in depth documentary on the band. Two years in the making, the documentary includes selections from Exploited leader Wattie Buchan’s own private collection of unseen footage and an interview with the man himself. Also included are interviews with those who supported the band, including journalist Garry Bushell. "Sexual Favours" is the band live, at it’s raw best. First ever DVD to feature the leaders of the UK grindcore movement. The gig here, filmed live at London's Greyhound in 1989 is LOUD, raucous with no holds barred. First ever DVD release featuring one of the bands that invented 'indie' as we know it. Birmingham-based Felt, led by the enigmatic Lawrence, always trod a path uniquely their own (the only possible parallel being that of the bands from the Scots-based Postcard label) and were prolific throughout the 80s laying down such cult classics as 'Ballad Of The Band' and 'Primitive Painters'. Both of those are included here, as part of a set filmed at London venue ULU in 1987 which shows Loz and the chaps on top form. Cover artwork designed by the man himself: as an addedd bonus the viewer gets the promo video for single 'Stained Glass Windows' shot by producer Danny Weinstein.
The first ever DVD to feature one of the UK’s premier Goth-Rock bands - Flesh For Lulu. Flesh burst into the UK 80s pop music scene in 1983 (around the same time as their close friends Alien Sex Fiend) with their widely popular "Roman Candle" EP and never did look back. The band was built on the songwriting partnership of Nick Marsh and Rocco Barker, and slowly began to build a fanbase for their dark and powerful rock n roll around the world. Third album 'Big Fun City', released in 1985, was their major breakthrough, earning them legions of adoring fans and breaking the American market. Several of their songs were featured in profile American movies of the mid-80’s and their videos enjoyed heavy rotation on MTV in the U.S. The band broke up in the early 1990’s, but reformed in 2001 and frequently tour the U.S. (where they retain a heavy cult fanbase) and Europe. 'Roman Candle - Flesh For Lulu Live' captures the band at the height of their mid-1980’s success with a full show from their 1985 UK tour. Amongst the tracks featured are debut single 'Roman Candle' and fan favourites 'A Cat Burgular' and 'Subterraneans'.
The first ever DVD to feature one of the great Psychobilly bands of all time - The Frantic Flintstones. Credited as one of the innovators of the Psychobilly scene, the Frantic Flintstones have been kickingaround the underground since the beginning of the '80s. They have been releasing albums steadily since their inception, often working with Sharks frontman Alan Wilson. In 2001, they toured Europe as acelebration of 18 years in the music industry. Led by frontman Chuck Harvey - The Frantic Flintstones remain one of the most popular names on the Psychobilly scene with a large, loyal following desperate about collecting EVERYTHING the band release. The band have recently had a resurgence of interest and are currently headlining numerous festivals in Europe. First ever DVD by London's early 90s besuited sleazemen, featuring James Johnston (now a Bad Seed and, like his employer, a one time cohort of Polly Jean Harvey). Recorded in the typically down at heel Happy Jax venue in 1991, and featuring all their best known early material ('Ruby' 'Draggin' Along' and 'Some Fool's Mess' ) plus the added attraction of a short film directed by Johnston and Terry Edwards (yes, him again) featuring crime author Derek Raymond reading from his novel 'Dora Saurez'- performed live at the NFT in London in 1994, but never released till now.
Following the success of 2003’s 'Live At The Ace Brixton / Up Yer Tower' release (CRDVD 27), Cherry Red Records begin 2004 with the second DVD to feature one of the biggest names from the second wave of British Punk, GBH. 'Kawasaki Live' kicks things off in style. A typically raucous GBH performance filmed at Japan’s Club Citta in 1991, the show features many of the band’s well known and loved tracks: Indie Chart top five hits Sick Boy and Give Me Fire, and the famed City Baby to name just a few. Brit Boys Attacked By Brats spotlights the band’s tours of the U.S.A. in 1983 and 1984. Along with some amazing live material the show includes extensive interviews with frontman Colin Abrahall, the other members of the band, and some hilarious contributions from the road crew. A must for all GBH fans, this is the first time this material has been available in an all-in-one package.
The first ever DVD to feature one of the biggest and longstanding second wave punk outfits in the UK, GBH. In 1980, four drinking buddies got together and formed a band inspired by the mid seventies punk acts. Initially called Charged GBH, they were signed up to Stoke based Clay Records within a year and released a string of singles and LPs that were to become second wave punk classics. But their studio performance was only an inkling of their stage presence. Soon GBH earned a reputation for being amongst the most exciting and intense performers on the scene, their gigs a blaze of irreverent punk rock posturing and high-speed savagery. More than any other band they were to influence the US hardcore street-punk phenomenon. Touring almost constantly, there is barely a continent that hasn’t been treated to one of their truly electrifying concerts. With thousands of fans worldwide, GBH have remained a force to be recognised even today. This DVD contains restored footage of two of the band’s most celebrated early gigs - their amazing turn at the Ace in Brixton, London in 1983 and as the headline act at the legendary "Up Yer Tower" gig in Blackpool, 1982. Both gigs demonstrate the raw power and stage presence which was to secure them the status of true punk icons and cement their future as one of the predominant rock and roll outfits of all time. Amongst the tracks featured are Indie Chart top ten hits, "No Survivors", "Sick Boy" and "Give Me Fire".

Two complete live performances bone the most outstanding bands of the 1980. Recorded at the Hacienda 1983 (a performance rescued from Ikon Archive) and Madrid 1985 for a very rare TV appearance, the twenty four tracks best represent Gun Club's tribal, psychobilly blues and energetic death rock. Although he certainly had ar eputation for being unreliable, lead singer Jeffrey Lee Pierce is on top form for both gigs. The 1985 gig is amongst the last the group would play before they seemingly broke up for respective solo careers before sudednly reappearing two years later. DVD PAL / main feature 118 minutes. Bonus material: interview with the band.
The first ever DVD one of the outstanding alternative bands of the 1980's - The Gun Club. Tribal, psychobilly blues is the best way to describe Gun Club's energetic death rock, the band's leader Jeffrey Lee Pierce' had a reputation as an unreliable, and well-publicized bouts of drunkenness dogged him throughout his career. Formed in Los Angeles in the early '80s, the band rested more comfortably around the New York downtown set and Pierce's mentors, Debbie Harry and Chris Stein. Their 1981 debut, Fire of Love, was a punk/blues hybrid - intense energy fueled Pierce's exorcism-in progress delivery and the band's frenetic style. 1982's Miami album was produced by Blondie's Chris Stein - Pierce had once been the president of Blondie's U.S. fan club which sparked the liaison. For Las Vegas Story in 1984, the Club won over guitarist Kid Congo Powers from the Cramps and Patricia Morrison (the Bags) on bass and it looked as if that was that when, save for some live recordings and posthumous releases, Pierce launched his solo career in 1985 with the EP Flamingo and the Wildweed album for the Statick label. But it wasn't quite over; in 1987 Pierce came back with a realigned Club and the album, Mother Juno (Fundamental) which earned them a wider following than ever. In 1996, after drying-out, but suffering from persistent health problems, Pierce passed away from a brain hemorrhage. Morrison went on to play with the Sisters of Mercy and eventually the Damned, Powers in his own lounge group and Dotson formed the Pontiac Brothers. The group were one of the most popular draws on the live circuit during their mid-1980's heyday - and "Live At The Hacienda" captures two visits the band made to Manchester's legendary venue. Yes, not everyone in Manc in the mid 80s was walking round in baggies, cardigans and paisley shirts!! Jeffrey Lee Pierce remains a legend to his many fans and a biopic of the frontman is currently in production.

Live three DVD set bringing together Chronicle Of The Black Sword (1985), Night Of The Hawks (1984) and Love In Space (1995). The first disc chronicles their association with SF novelist Michael Moorcock who influenced the writing process of the COTBS album. A truly loony performance recorded at the Hammersmith Odean with psychedelic images, over the top stage antics and the novelist appearing on stage for the encore. The second of disc was recorded at the Gaumont Theatre in Ipswich and (with the assisstance of a laser show and wild editing) is of a similar audio visual assault. Disc three contains highlights from the bands Alien 4 tour. Every DVD features a completely different set list. One for the more hardcore Wind fans out there, this is a superb priced collection.

Do you like punk-funk fusion, Ted? I wouldn't really know about that, Sir.The first ever available DVD (Region 0 PAL) of this now-legendary 80s punkadelic underground combo, fronted by Switch (aka Charlie Higson, later star of the Fast Show) and featuring the ubiquitous Terry Edwards, later leader of the Scapegoats and a man who has appeared on more albums than one can shake a stick at. Despite rave reviews and Radio 1 play and constantly topping the indie charts, the Norwich band never seemed to make it into the mainstream- but they left behind a legacy of impressive music that it is our pleasure to present in all its live glory from London in 1984!! Includes "I Don’t Want To Live With Monkeys" "Music To Watch Girls By" "Push Out The Boat" and "Where Have All The Club A-Go-Gos Went Went?" First ever DVD of the man who all but invented rock and roll as we know it, whose first records predate Bill Haley and Elvis's first recordings, and whose seminal track 'Rumble' just might be the most important instrumental ever recorded. Laying the foundations for everything from garage punk to heavy metal, the tune was recorded in 1958 but written some time earlier, and sparked such controversy for its 'musical simulation of violence' that it was banned from several stations despite reaching the Billboard Top 10. His next cut 'Jack The Ripper' had almost the same effect, and for the ensuing 40 years his mixture of originals and covers represnted the pure, unbridled hillbilly spirit of original rock'n'roll. Several of his classics, including the aforementioned tunes, are included here on this DVD, as well as interpretations of everything from 'King Creole' and 'Born To Be Wild' in his own inimitable style, and extensive documentary footage of the man himself talking candidly about his life, loves and hates. The first ever DVD to feature one of the biggest names from the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal- Belfast's Mama's Boys. Comprised of a trio of brothers form the clan McManus- to whit Pat, John and Tommy, the band issued several albums during the early to mid 80s, such as the classics 'Turn It Up' and 'Power And Passion', and in their mixture of strutting hard rock and traditional Irish influences, recalled early Thin Lizzy- although with more of an AOR slant than their mentors had ever displayed. Despite heavy rotation on MTV with a cover of Slade's "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" and success in Germany (no surprise there) the Boys, like so many UK/Eire bands in the 80s, suffered at the hands of America and poodle metal (and in particular, Kerrang's obsession with it) and never broke through. Then in the mid 90s, powerhouse drummer Tommy passed on, ensuring the band would never attain the success many felt they had deserved. Eventually they evolved into Celtus- but that's a different story altogether!! This Region O PAL DVD should remind us all what a grea band they were.

Live show from Edinburgh 1994, the group touring after the release of their debut album "Destroy Oh Boy!" and quick follow up EP "Drunk On Cock" Eighteen track DVD; Bonus material features live highlights of their New Jersey, USA show earlier that year.
The first ever DVD to feature one of the great English Punk bands of all time - Newtown Neurotics. Hailing from Essex, the Neurotics combined their punk rock with a strong political slant. Their debut singles, 'Hypocrite' (1979) and 'When The Oil Runs Out' (1980) appeared on their own No Wonder label and instantly gained the band a fanbase amongst Punk followers. In 1982 their agenda became apparent with the classic 'Kick Out The Tories' single - the song went on to become a Punk anthem and the band’s most famous track. Through the '80's the band became increasingly involved in the agit-pop scene, regularly playing benefit concerts and festivals. The Neurotics always enjoyed a loyal and fanatical following, and this was displayed when the band played their final show in 1988. "The Long Goodbye" features that show - at London's Fulham Greyhound - in it's full majesty. The performance is packed full of crowd favourite songs and features a guest performance from famed punk-poet Attila The Stockbroker. Features the UK independent chart hits "Kick Out The Tories" and "Blitzkrieg Bop / Hypocrites"
A brand new, previously unseen DVD featuring one of the great all-time rock music icons - Nico. One of the most fascinating figures of rock's fringes, Nico hobnobbed, worked, and was romanticallylinked with an incredible assortment of the most legendary entertainers of the '60s. Nico first rose to fame as a European supermodel, also landing a bit part in Fellini's La Dolce Vita film. In the mid-1960's she moved to New York, where Andy Warhol installed her as a vestigial presence and occasional lead singer for the Velvet Underground. The band never really accepted her as a bona fide member and she departed in 1967, but not before contributing unforgettable deadpan vocals to three of the songs on theirclassic 1967 debut album. Nico embarked on a solo career, recording folk-rock-flavored songs for her debut Chelsea Girl albumwith assistance from Jackson Browne, Lou Reed, and John Cale. Her 1969 follow-up, The Marble Index, was a dramatic departure that unveiled her doom-laden, gothic persona, produced by Cale andprominently featuring her deep vocals, impenetrable lyrics, and ghostly harmonium. Her subsequent '70s albums explored much the same territory, with assistance from Cale and influential art rockers like Brian Eno. She fought a constant struggle with a massive drug habit and tangled personal life and eventually died of a cerebral hemorrhage (whilst riding her motorbike) in Ibiza in 1988.The original goth rocker, Nico's albums are demanding and bleak, but map a unique and starkly powerful vision that has become more influential with age. "All Tomorrow's Parties" features extremely rare material from two shows Nico played in the UK in the early 1980's..

Believe it or not the Swingin' Sixties didn't just spawn mega-pop groups like the Beatles, Stones and Monkees. The decade of love also gave birth to something far darker and dirtier, and arguably much more fun. Yes, the sixties were also responsible for producing the seeds of what would eventually become Punk Rock. The legacy of such icons as The Sonics, The 13th Floor Elevators and The Monks lives on today, and over the past two decades has produced cult sensations such as Thee Milkshakes, The Prisoners and Kaisers. A filthy hybrid of Bad Taste, Rhythm n Blues, rockabilly, surf sounds and all that is unholy, Trash Punk is one of the most enduring forces in the rock n roll underground. This DVD compilation covers nearly twenty years of (the second wave of) Garage Punk and Sixties Style rock, AKA Trash and showcases some of the legendary characters that have emerged on the scene. Never anything less than inventive, 'Nothin But Trash' shows exactly why this debauched tradition survives to this very day - It's bloody good fun. From cult heroes The Gun Club and Link Wray to more recent contenders to the throne Saturn V and Empress of Fur, it's no frills and big thrills all they way as we visit the seediest venues in the UK and spend time at 2003's Wild Weekend in Benidorm, Spain. A mixture of live and promo footage showcases one of most thriving genres of underground music history and present.
By the end of the 1970s, punk in Britain was splintering into several distinct strains, most of them quite "arty". Oi! music was an attempt to keep punk a populist, street-level phenomenon, and most of it came from the working class of South London and the cockney East End. Taking its name from the Cockney Rejects song Oi! Oi! Oi! (before which it was simply known as street-punk), Oi! was loud, brutal, and extremely simple. In essence, it was punk rock that was most at home in a rowdy pub. The Oi! movement was marked by strenuously collectivist politics and chanted, football-cheer choruses. it's a celebration of the Oi scene, featuring both live performance and interview footage from some of the main players in the genre including Peter And The Test Tube Babies, Sham 69, The Toy Dolls and The Exploited.Region 0 PAL disc
The first ever DVD to feature one of Punk’s most enduringly popular and uncompromising bands, One Way System. Not so much a compilation as a potted history of the career of North West England’s premier punk outfit from 1982 to 1997. One Way System first lit up the second wave punk revolution with their fresh faced, no nonsense sound in the early eighties, when Oi! and skinhead culture had all but rejected the original punk ethic. One Way System managed to bridge the gap. From the front cover of Sounds to the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, the System remained sharp and impressive, their natural aggression and un-faulting professionalism sealing their reputation as one of the most exciting bands on the international punk circuit. The ‘comeback’ gig at the 1996 Holidays In The Sun festival only proved that One Way System are still a force to be reckoned with. A year later they were taking Japan by storm. A new millennium has rolled by and One Way System still impress. Touring Europe and the USA. Playing to enthusiastic crowds they remain as hard hitting and entertaining as ever. The DVD features never been seen before footage, candid interviews and a soundtrack to die for. Spanning 15 years the disc includes tracks from five classic gigs, promo clips and a short taster for a fly-on-the wall documentary of the 1997 Japanese tour, currently in post production. Amongst the tracks featured are One Way System classics including Indie Chart hits, "Jerusalem" and a cover of Slade's "Cum On Feel The Noise".

The first ever DVD to feature one of the enigmatic greats of UK music - Peter Perrett. As leader of the Only One's in the late '70s, Peter Perrett was one of the new wave's most enigmatic cult figures. His mix of then-current punk/new wave sounds with traces of glam helped pave the way for the more flexible alternative rock sounds of the 1980s and '90s. Serious drug problems knocked him out of commission for most of the 1980s, and indeed he kept such a low profile that a Syd Barrett-like mystique began to arise around him. Defeating his addictions in the late '80s, he began to ease back into music, finally releasing an EP of new material in 1994, and thenrecording a full-length album, Woke Up Sticky, the following year."Another Girl Another Planet" features clips from Perrett playing a full live show at London's Mean Fiddler. Also included is a collection of extremely rare and unseen home-movie style footage featuring Perrettworking on new material in the studio and relaxing at home. Amongst the tracks featured are The Only Ones eternally popular anthem "Another Girl, Another Planet". With the untimely death of Nikki Sudden in 2006, it seems Perrett is one of the last of a dying breed. Cherish him.

A fantastic live DVD featuring one of the most successful rock bands of all time - Poison. In the early 80's, Bret Michaels, Bobby Dall, Rikki Rockett and C.C. Deville came together to form the band, and were soon signed to Enigma Records where they recorded debut album 'Look What The Cat Dragged In'. The album spawned three US top ten hits and went on to sell over two million copies. Second album 'Open Up And Say...Ahh!' outsold its predecessor, with several hits, including US number one 'Every Rose Has It’s Thorn'. After the "Open Up" tour, they headed back home to record their third album 'Flesh & Blood', in 1990. This was the album that launched them to worldwide success (going to number three in the UK album chart) and spawned more hit singles including 'Unskinny Bop'. The band still continues to tour and record, retaining their massive worldwide fanbase. 'Seven Days Live' captures Poison at the height of their international success with a full show recorded at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on their 'Native Tongue' tour in 1993, shortly before grunge temporarily put a halt to their career. Amongst the tracks featured are UK top twenty hits 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn' and 'Unskinny Bop'.
The filming for this began in 1988 and one would suspect that it was destined to end there. However Karen Bentham created an art promo out of the title track and the rest, as they say, is history. Described by some as a video masterpiece, 'Joy' ended up as a very colourful and artistic mix capturing Psychic TV in a number of guises. 'Black' was filmed live in the Subterrania Club in London in 1991, capturing the band at the height of their acid-phase. The promo clip for 'IC Water', included here as an extra, was filmed during 1990.

The all-day festival has gone down in Psychobilly legend due to the range of performers and riotous atmosphere. Amongst those featured are some of the scene’s most popular bands including Frantic Flintstones, Long Tall Texans and the Meteors. The second portion of the DVD is taken from the Live At The Charlotte all-dayer that took place in 1993. Yet another legendary showcase for Psychobilly talent, the festival features a number of significant bands from the scene, including The Waltons, Macavity’s Cat and The Hangmen, amongst others. The first time ever that these shows have appeared on DVD and together in one package- this release is a must for all Psychobilly fans.
Psycho Cats (The Best Of Blood On The Cats) brings together footage of legendary bands from the enduringly popular Psychobilly scene. The scene sprang to life in the early 1980’s, with bands combining the spirit and sound of Punk with classic rock n’ roll and country influences to produce a new and unique genre.Psychobilly became immensely popular, with devoted fans attending shows and festivals up and down the country. Some of the scene’s most popular bands and songs are featured, including The Meteors with Indie Chart top twenty hit "Go Buddy Go", the legendary Screaming Lord Sutch, the very popular King Kurt, Demented Are Go, Long Tall Texans and Guana Batz., along with many cult classic treats from the Psychobilly scene’s bizarre extremes. Psychomania features three of the biggest and best names to emerge from the Psychobilly scene, performing at the legendary "Night Of The Long Knives" Psychobilly festival in Birmingham, England in 1988 - and together for the first time on DVD. The Quakes are one of the best-known U.S. Psychobilly acts and gained a large and devoted European following during the late 1980's. The band has continued playing until the present - influencing the scene in their native USA, throughout Europe and in Japan and touring all three continents. Their popularity in the Far East even resulted in a major label deal with Sony. Skitzo are one of the most successful acts from the UK scene and made a massive impact at the time of this performance. Skitzo released two albums - 'Skitzo Mania' and 'Terminal Damage' - and quickly became a major band on the scene, particularly in London where they were based. The rumours of a Skitzo reunion regularly circulate and their popularity remains undiminished. The Klingonz hold a reputation as one of the most visually exciting bands on the scene and are still gigging to the present day. The band appeal to the wackier side of Psychobilly, taking all of its elements to the extreme. Crazier in appearance with bizarre hair-cuts, more offensive songs, and playing faster than their contemporaries, they made a huge impact with their insane performances and album releases which boasted titles like 'Mongo', 'Flange', 'Jabot' and 'Bollix'. Their popularity spread right across Europe and into Japan, where a 'Best Of' album was released. NB: This DVD is nothing to do with the British horror film soundtrack 'Pyschomania'.
When the first 'Punk and Disorderly' album came out in early 1982 it created quite a stir. It went straight into the national Top 50 as well as reaching the Top 3 of the Independent chart. Several years later 2 more Punk and Disorderly releases hit the street, this time on video format. They have also sold steadily over the years and remain important documents of the punk movement. This DVD is the best of the 2 videos combined with some added extra tracks. Alongside Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, SPK, Neubaten and Nurse With Wound, Test Dept. represented the best of the then new Industrial music to come out of Europe in the early 80s. Like Neubaten (but with a more explicit left wing political stance) their music often involved the use of scrap iron, power tools and self-made instruments: indeed, live performances were conducted using whatever they salvaged on the way to the show, which was normally performed in an obscure, often quite literally industrial, venue. This DVD- the first ever release of its kind from the band- was made in 1984 as a film to accompany the album of the same name, featuring both live and 'art' material, and as such is an indespensible document. Sheer genius from the days when Industrial meant more than just plastic hair, PVC trousers and an attitude problem.

One of the leading alternative bands of the early 1980's the Virgin Prunes are going through somewhat of a renaissance of popularity being cited left right and centre by the new wave of British post-punk groups. The first ever offcial DVD of one of America's greatest punk rock talents (and still, to this day, one of its saddest losses) Wendy O Williams. Formerly leader of the Plasmatics, and noted for her no-holds barred, riotous, often obscene stage act (which sometimes bordered on the kind of performance art specialised in by Kathy Acker and Karen Findlay) which got her banned in London on several occasions before Rock Bitch were even out of their school skirts!! This set is taken from her "WOW" tour which promoted the solo debut of the same name in 1985: it is not for the faint hearted or anyone who doesn't know how to rock'n'roll!! A priceless testament to a much missed character. Courtney who?? Oblocks. Wendy was the first and is still the best. Region 0 PAL.
Unique collection comprising of all the films made during the lengthy period of collaboration between William Burroughs, Brion Gysin, and the radical British film-maker Anthony Balch. Their partnership began in the '60's with Balch making a realtively straightforward film capturing the essence of Burroughs writing on film and capturing the key themes and situations featured in his books. Their following work was more avant garde, each scene being filmed and editied before they cut up the finished film and randomly spliced it back together to express Burroughs' work ethic. Ever since Balch's death in 1980, the experimental films remained untouched until the intervention of Psychic TV's Genesis P.Orridge salvaged and archived the footage. Bonus 50 minute film called "Ghosts at No. 9" uses cut-ups of film and superimpositions, material from the extensive archive of Psychick TV. Five films in total. 90 mins long.
Now, for the first time, 'The Final Academy Document' (filmed at the Hacienda Manchester 1983) gets a full release on DVD. The footage has been carefully restored and features edited highlights of Burroughs' readings, and a performance by John Giorno. Includes film re-edits of "Ghosts at No. 9" by Genesis P-Orridge and the classic "Towers Open Fire". A worthy addition to any William Burroughs collection. 0 Region free PAL.
Another first for DVD, this time we bring you the fantastic Young Marble Giants. Young Marble Giants formed in 1979 and were a three-piece from Cardiff, Wales consisting of Stuart Moxham (guitars, keyboards), his brother Phil (bass), and Alison Statton (voice). Their recording career lasted only two years but they garnered a loyal and devoted fan base that still exists to this day. They recorded one classic album, 'Colossal Youth', for Rough Trade Records and performed two short tours of Europe and the U.S. in 1980. On their return from the U.S. tensions in the band led to their split. The name and legend of the band has continued to flourish, with websites devoted to them and recent releases of rare material from their back catalogue. 'Live At The Hurrah Club' captures the band in full flight at New York’s Hurrah Club during that legendary 1980 U.S. tour, and is the only known footage of the band in concert, making this a unique release for all YMG fans.Amongst the tracks featured are the Independent chart top ten hit 'Final Days'.
