Blue Oyster Cult - Agents Of Fortune. CD. (Columbia Legacy - 502237 2)

The platinum selling album from 1976 that catapulted BÖC into the stadium league. Containing the classic proto-punk rock like "This Ain't The Summer Of Love" (later covered by Current 93), early stoner metal in the form of 'ETI' and 'Tattoo Vampire' pure pop moments like 'True Confessions' and 'Debbie Denise', the death-disc morbidity of 'Morning Final' and the eerie ode to a lovers suicide pact "Don't Fear the Reaper" this album deserves it's status as a US rock classic. A remastered edition that Includes four bonus tracks, and full booklet notes.…

Blue Oyster Cult - Blue Öyster Cult. CD. (Columbia Legacy - 502234 2)

Previously known as the Stalk Forest Group, this US band from Long Island NY evolved from a West Coast influenced psychedelic jamming band into a heavy rock outfit with a garage punk attitude. Dark and mysterious with biting guitar, cryptic lyrics, swirling keyboards and phased effects the 1972 debut by Blue Öyster Cult is a classic US album, and the missing link betwixt the garage rock of the MC5 and stadium metal. Aside from the songtitltes themselves ('She's As Beautiful As A Foot' 'I'm On The Lamb But I Ain't No Sheep' 'Before The Kiss A Redcap') the songs are superb, and in the case of 'Redeemed' and 'Then Came The Last Days Of May' head and shoulders above what any other American hard rock act at the time had achieved. Remastered with four previously unreleased cuts and detailed booklet!

Blue Oyster Cult - Secret Treaties. CD. (Columbia Legacy - 502236 2)

The band's third album from 1974 is regarded by many as their best. Superb hard rock that has a garage feel featuring swirling keyboards and rippling wah-wah guitar work as well as wild driving rhythms and spacious musical interplay. Disturbing titles such as Harvester Of Eyes and Flaming Telepaths were to increase the bands Black Magic reputation, whilst 'Astronomy' which features possibly the most cyrptic lyric the band ever penned ('And don't forget my dog, it's fixed inconsequent') is still yet to be explained. This remastered edition contains full sleeve notes and five bonus tracks…

Blue Oyster Cult - Tyranny And Mutation. CD. (Columbia Legacy - 502235 2)

The second of the black and white trilogy (known as such due to the artwork) this BÖC album from 1973 carries on from where the last left off with hard rock riffing and weird occult imagery. Thanks to the latter, they became known as the US Black Sabbath, although musically there is no similarity. Folk rock ('Wings Wetted Down') and bubblegum harrnonies ('Quicklime Girl') often enter the fray, although when they were heavy, as on 'Hot Rails To Hell' or '7 Screaming Dizbusters', they were HEAV- Y. Meanwhile, Albert Bouchard was proving himself the world's most underrated drummer on the rolling, tumbling 'Teen Archer'. This remastered CD includes four bonus tracks, and comes with detailed booklet notes…

Byrds - Byrdmaniax. CD. (Columbia Legacy - CLC 900930)

This 10th album from McGuinn's Byrds was recorded in a blink between touring their "Untitled" album. Not as cohesive as some of their other work, then, but nonetheless this 1971 release contains some fine individual tracks with The Byrds elegant balladry and pastel folk-rock to the fore. 20-bit digital remaster with 3 previously unissued bonus tracks.

Their 1969 follow-up to "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo", includes a blistering fuzzy rendition of "This Wheel's On Fire", the menacing "Bad Night At The Whisky" and some fine country - notably "Drug Store Truck Drivin' Man". An underrated album, this 20-bit digitally re-mastered CD release includes five bonus tracks.

Byrds - Notorious Byrd Brothers. CD. (Columbia Legacy - 486751 2)

Along with "Fifth Dimension" & "Younger Than Yesterday", this is The Byrds at their psychedelic peak. Totally trippy, heavy phased, blissed out sounds with every track dripping with crystal clear intensity from "Artifiacial Energy" to "Space Odyssey". From 1968, and the last album to feature David Crosby (well on some of it anyway). This CD reissue is a 20-bit digital re-master with 6 bonus tracks.

Byrds - Sweetheart Of The Rodeo. CD. (Columbia Legacy - 486752 2)

The Byrds radical and inspired 1968 follow-up to "Notorious Byrd Brothers", not only invented the whole country-rock genre, but in hindsight remains one of its finest examples. The Byrds adoption of pedal steel guitar admidst their trademark harmonies and folk/bluegrass influences made for some standout covers, such as "You Ain't Goin Nowhere" and "The Christian Life", together with fine originals from Byrds new-comer Gram Parsons. CD release is 20-bit digitally remastered version with 8 bonus tracks.
