Incredible String Band - ISB & 5000 Spirits (2 CD Set). CD. (Elektra - 8122765042)

The debut 1966 album from the ISB was also their most simple. It is this minimalism that allowed the natural radiance of the band's (mostly) original material to be evident in the purist sense, and likewise without many of the somewhat intricate distractions and musical tangents that their future works would incorporate.Moving onto 5000 Spirits from 1967 explored mind expanding and surreal Eastern and Arabic influences. Now remastered and housed in deluxe packaging with new liner notes, rarely seen photographs and period ephemera.

Kyuss - ....and The Circus Leaves Town. CD. (Elektra - 7559618112)

The Godfathers of the acid rock revival. Kyuss are no more, but this album still bears testament to their stunning heavy rock with ripping guitar work, mixing Sabbath like riffs with free form jamming. Great to see where the early idea for QOTSA came from.

Kyuss - Welcome To Sky Valley. CD. (Elektra - 7559615712)

Deep bass space explorations showcasing the heaviest rock this side of Jupiters' gravitational field. Love - Forever Changes (Remastered). CD. (Elektra - 8122 73537 2)

One of 1967's seminal classics andwithout doubt one of the greatest albums ever made. For the uninitiated, it's a hazy, drugged masterpiece of introverted US psychedelic rock, folk and orchestrated pop containing such timeless tunes as "Alone Again Or," "A House Is Not A Motel" "Andmoreagain," and "The Red Telephone." Features a fully annotated colour booklet, seven bonus tracks and a slip case.Very foolish not to own this!

Love - Four Sail (Remastered Version). CD. (Elektra - 8122736402)

Wonderful fourth album from Love from 1969 although much heavier and a different line up to which recorded "Forever Changes" this album is still full of melody and charm. First time on CD for this album which started the Love period of blazing lead guitar solo's. This really is a neglected album and deserves investigation. Contains alternate mixes of "Robert Montgomery", "Talking in My Sleep" & "Singing Cowboy".

Phil Ochs - All The News / I Ain't Marching. Dble CD. (Elektra - 8122 73564-2)

To many, Phil Ochs and not Dylan represented the real heart of the mid '60's folk protest movement. Overtly political and socially concious Phil Ochs made these two albums in 1964 and 1965. Witty, humourous serious and heart-felt they are delightful period pieces. Beautifully packaged with detailed booklet notes, bonus tracks and housed in a slip case.

Stooges - Fun House. CD. (Elektra - 740712)

1970 album from The Stooges and the follow-up to their eponymous debut. The production attempts to recreate their live sound; raw, aggressive and immediate. This is evident on cuts like "TV Eye", "1970" and the classic title track. Iggy snarls, Ron Asheton blazes and the powerful rhythm section hold everything in place (just!). A blueprint for punk rock.

Stooges - Stooges. Pic Disc LP. (Elektra - 8122736741)

Ltd picture disc 180 gram vinyl pressing of this 1969 debut release by proto-punks The Stooges. Fronted by the demented Iggy Pop, they made a noise like none before (or since). Utilizing the swagger and confidence of bands like the Rolling Stones together with the fuzz and urgency of bands like The Sonics, they created an album which, to this day, sounds raw and fresh. Tracks include "I Wanna Be Your Dog", "No Fun" and "1969".

Television - Marquee Moon. CD. (Elektra - 7559606162)

Here it is - one of the greatest (punk?) rock records ever made; Television's "Marquee Moon". Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd's group sprang up from the seedy underworld of New York's CBGB's in the mid 70s and released this, their debut, in 1977. Influenced more by Rimbaud than the Sex Pistols, the astonishing interplay between the twin guitars, bass and drums is never more evident than on the eleven minute epic title track. To call it punk rock is like describing Dostoevsky as a short story writer.Digi pack re-issue with 5 bonus tracks.

Tim Buckley - Tim Buckley / Goodbye And Hello. CD. (Elektra - 8122 73569 2)

First two albums from the golden voice released in 1966 and 1967 respectively. Both are minor classics the first being more folk/rock singer songwriter based whilst the second is epic, orchestrated and dreamlike. Tim's voice soars over eight octaves and the songs are filled with fantastical poetic images. Brilliant!
