Excellent anthology/overview of this great progressive supergroup who featured members of king Crimson (John Wetton), Emerson, Lake & Palmer (Carl Palmer), and Yes (Steve Howe), as well as Geoff Downes from the Buggles. The band could stretch from all out extended prog numbers to out and out pop numbers,what a refreshing change in todays climate!Lavish slipcase with embossed printing.

Asia - Archiva I & II. Dble CD. (Inside Out - SPV08548442)

A collection of sought after and rare Asia outtakes and demos, all of which originate from the sessions for the 'Aqua' 'Aria' and 'Arena' albums released in the 1990s. Featuring stalwarts Geoff Downes and John Payne plus a variety of stellar guests and collaborators, there are over 25 tracks in total plus bonus material yet to be confirmed. Remastered with background info, photos and an embossed slipcase.

Asia - Arena (Special Edition). CD. (Inside Out - SPV08548322)

Third album from the Payne-fronted Asia lineup, and quite a different beast from anything they had before recorded. Moving away from any prog rock leanings they had left (except on one song, 'The Day Before The War') and into the poppier end of the AOR spectrum ('Heaven') with influences from world music. It still sounds like Asia, Jim, but not as we know it!! Lineup this time is Downes and Payne alongside drummer Michael Sturgis, Steely Dan guitarist/veteran sessioneer Elliott Randall, Simply Red/Stone Roses/Players/Steve Hogarth guitarist Aziz Ibrahim, and Bryan Ferry percussionist Luis Jardim. Remastered with bonus tracks, pix and notes in an embossed slipcase, as well as featuring the usual Rodney Matthews atrwork.

Reissue of 1994 album from UK melodic rock overlords, the first without Steve Howe and the second to feature 'glammy' vocalist John Payne. For a band so far into their career whose lineup now bore little resemblance to its original, this is a surprisingly strong and confident album and features live favourites 'Sad Situation' and 'Military Man'. The latter is also represented in a live acoustic version, one of three bonus tracks alongside 'Reality' and a multimedia video of 'Anytime'. Remastered with interesting background information and visual, and presented in a slipcase with embossed printing. Lineup: Downes, Payne, Al Pitrelli, Michael Sturgis.

Laid back, at times mellow, at others surging with a power redolent of their mentors (Robert Fripp, Ry Cooder, Terje Rypdal etc) but always above all TASTEFUL, Paul Richards, Bert Lams and Hideyo Moriya are three virtuosi it is always a pleasure to hear, not least of all to find out exactly what can be done with 18 strings, very few special effects and lots of inspiration!!

Flower Kings (Roine Stolt And The...) - Back In The World Of Adventures. CD. (Inside Out - IOMCD 051)

Released in 1995 this is the second album by the band that grew out of Swedish guitarist Roine Stolt's solo project. An Impressive follow up to the bands debut with excellent material in a melodic progressive vein, featuring thoughtful lyrics and Roine's superb guitar work. Best track here is the live favorite "Big Puzzle". Great artwork.

Kaipa - The Decca Years 1975-78. 5-CD Box Set. (Inside Out - SPV48722)

A bit of a treat this- every album ever released by the superb 70s Swedish prog band Kaipa, who featured a then very young and budding guitarist by the name of Roine Stolt, later of course to front the excellent Flower Kings. This very special limited edition features every KAIPA album from the period 1975-78 (punk never really took off in Sweden until the 90s when Fireside and Refused turned up!!). All gathered together in one box, with 2 additional CDs, one of which features unreleased live tracks and the other songs that have never been previously released.

Stunning 2002 debut album, to further this Swedish band's reputation in the progressive/ jazz rock scene. An offshoot of Landberk the band easily stand up along with Anekdoten as one of Swedens best progressive bands. Right in the first minutes of "Sensor" the listener finds himself immersed in electric guitars, washes of mellotron, jazzy keyboards and female vocals sounding similar to Bjork. Fans of Landberk, Morte Macabre, and Anekdoten should jump on this item. Also includes a mulktimedia section on the disc. A beautifully designed18 page booklet adorns the release.

Possibly the best prog band in the US at the moment (apart from Grandaddy)

Ninth studio album by the massively popular US prog band. Further evidence that these boys are destined to go down in the annals of progressive rock, both inspired and inspiring. As on previous albums, there is one monster track: "As Far As The Mind Can See" lasts for a whopping 17 minutes, "With Your Kiss" hits the 11 and a half mark as well. Not surprising then that this eleven track lasts for 78 minutes. Initial CD pressings come in a limited edition slip case.

Excellent double DVD package from the prog monsters. Professionally shot film on the Day for Night tour in 1999 in Europe and features everything the band are known for, stunning technical ability, spot on vocal harmonies, complex arrangements and overall goodfun. Features the 6 tracks which were featured on the CD of the same name and 6 more including their take on Squonk (Genesis). The second disc in this package has the making of the V album, 6 tracks of studio sessions, their version of 'Space Truckin, (Deep Purple) and more surprises! Excellent value DVD. Region free NTSC with 300 minutes playing time!

21 tracks of songs, demos, sketches and noodlings made public by that most unique of Gibson-twanging men, Mr Steve Howe. Prog has a tendency towards self indulgence (you don't say!- Ed) which is why we at FE like it, but this album- the third in an ongoing series-really does capture the fun of the musician at home tinkering, experimenting and discovering a fantastic array of new sounds. Not many musicians would allow us into their inner sanctum to hear their work in progress, but Steve has been generous to a fault, and it should be noted that the standard of material is comparable with the best of his work both solo and with Yes. Widdletastic!

The 2005 album release from this most popular of all contemporary US jam bands, featuring five of the most multitalented musicians to put their works to disc in the last two decades. Produced by Malcolm Burns, featuring guest contributions from Robert Hunter and Jim Lauderdale, and highlighting a new collaborative approach between the members in their songwriting, with each player taking lead vocals and contributing two songs each. It almost brings to mind the team spirit, if not the sound, of those old Moody Blues albums, except with longer songs- and that's some recommendation.

Ty Tabor - Rock Garden. CD. (Inside Out - SPV79112)

Third official album from King X's guitarist Ty Tabor. Embracing Beatle esque melodical pop not unsimilar to his bands back catalogue, this is a lovely album of finely crafted songs. Ty really has a gift for melody, a very successful side project that may start to interfere with his day job. Twelve tracks (One hidden) including: "I Know What I'm Missing", "She's A Tree" and "Thankful."
