Olympics - Welcome Home. CD. (Kent - CDHP 018) The kings of the dance crazes in the late '50's / early '60's, this album takes the group into a more soulful territory for this 1966 release. Six of the tracks are soul remakes of their earlier Rock n Roll hits, while the other six are new cuts. Featuring all of the original members of the '50's line up (minus the one who had died), this is a combined effort to take their rock numbers into new territories and attract a new bred of listener. The remakes retain all the energy and spirit of the originals as well they might, having been produced by the same team who were responsible for their first versions. The soul cuts maintain the same level of excitement, many were among the first big records in the early days of the Northern Soul scene.
