Under the guidance of label manager / head of A&R Andrew Lauder, the careers of such names as Hawkwind, Man, The Idle Race (featuring Jeff Lynne, later to front ELO), The Bonzo Dog Band, Can, Motorhead, Brinsley Schwarz, Neil Innes & The Groundhogs began, along with fellow travellers such as Robert Calvert, Help Yourself, Cochise, High Tide, If, Gypsy, Reg King, Deke Leonard, B.B. Blunder, Roger Ruskin Spear et al. This set features selections from all of the above & more, with many tracks previously unreleased on CD. The package also includes an interview with Andrew Lauder, along with biographies & rare photos of all the featured artists.

Bangles, The - Doll Revolution. CD. (Liberty - 5815102) Fifteen years is a long to wait for a follow up album to 'Everything' released in 1988. Bonzo Dog Band - Gorilla (remaster). CD. (Liberty - 387 8892) Digital remaster of the 1967 debut album from the UK band who were often likened to Frank Zappa in their mixture of social comment wrapped in eccentric delivery and early use of unusual musical sources- often 20s and 30s jazz, swing and vaudeville records they had found in London fleamarkets. Bonzo Dog Band - Keynsham (remaster). CD. (Liberty - 387 8922) Expanded digital re-master of the fourth album, also released in 1969, this was the last group effort before the band split in 1970. Concentrating more on Neil Innes' fine songs, this still contained several remarkable bits of lunacy such as "You Done My Brain In" and "Mr. Slater's Parrot" as well as the wonderful "Busted". Canned Heat - Boogie With Canned Heat. LP. (Liberty - LBRT18116) Canned Heat hit the Top 40 with this 1968 release and became so-called stars with the road classic "On the Road Again" and a year later after a Woodstock Performance. Also included is "Amphetamine Annie", "Evil Woman" and seven more chuggin' blues rockers.

Cilla Black - Beginnings. CD. (Liberty - 5931812) Twenty track compilation, incorporating '60's classics and new material from the 21st Century. Considering how well these go together is a testament to how strong and consistant her voice is. It is an unusual release that shouldn't work but does. Includes: her superb reading of "Anyone Who Had A Heart", "Beautiful Goodbye", "It's For You" and a soulful rendition of Ringo's "Photograph."

Cilla Black - Cilla / Cilla Sings A Rainbow. CD. (Liberty - 5931812) Cilla's '65 and '66 albums together on one CD. Reminiscent of Dusty Springfield for its white soul approach, this is one of Mrs Black's first assault on the charts. All covers, these twenty two tracks include works by her friends The Beatles and Burt Bacharach/Hal David. CD booklet mimics original Sleeve notes and design.

Dexy's Midnight Runners - Let's Make This Precious - The Best Of. CD. (Liberty - 5926802) Eighteen track compilation of all of their British hit singles and two tracks from the 21st Century. Their volatile, tune heavy UK version of Memphis soul was an instant success amongst the Post punk of the time and still sounds fresh today. This CD charts their rise through the charts and their morph with Irish Folk for monster hit "Come On Eileen." Includes: "Geno", "Tell Me When My Light Turns Green" and "My National Pride."

Francois Hardy - Tant De Belles Choses. CD. (Liberty - 5605262) A popular singer in her native France, Francois is an unsung hero and a template of the female in rock and pop music today. This twelve track album is largely in French and concentrates on her moodier side, released in 2005 and selling well in Europe. A great example of a singer keeping their artistic credibility four decades into their career, she is backed by atmospheric washes of retro indie pop. Johnny Winter - The Progressive Blues Experiment. CD. (Liberty - 8665682) Remastered version of this 1969 release from this ace US guitarist. It's also Winter at the beginning of a long career, playing the blues as if his life depends on it, without applying a glimmer of rock commercialism. Now remastered for the first time this explosive album stands out as one of the finest examples of Texas blues guitar playing. Includes the brilliant "Rollin' & Tumblin'","Got Love if You Want It","Forty Four" and the out of this world', "It's My Own Fault". One of the best from one of the best blues rock players this world has known.

Ray Charles - Genius Loves Company. CD. (Liberty - 8665402) Final studio album by the Rhythm and Blues legend, released in 2004. Featuring a stellar cast to support the ailing singer: Norah Jones, Van Morrison, Diana Krall, Elton John, Willie Nelson, BB King and Gladys Knight to name a few, this is a collection of retro produced, popular covers and a few originals. A highly respectful album that is deliberately barel in it's arrangements to allow the voices to take centre stage, its one of those efforts that leaves a tear in the eye as it is impossible to not to hear a man at the very end of his life.
