Bob Marley & The Wailers - African Herbsman. dualdisc. (Silverline - 2845342)

Dualdisc reissue of classic early pre-Island era Marley album, the one some people cite as his best. Well, it does feature 'Trench Town Rock' 'Duppy Conqueror' 'Small Axe' and the original version of 'Lively Up Yourself', so there could be something in that theory!! Produced by the Upsetter himself, Lee Scratch Perry, and one can hear his swirling insanity bubbling away beneath the bare-boned sparse surface that was the hallmark of most early 70s reggae classics. Now containing two sides' worth of goodies- the music on one side, lyrics, images and 'stuff' on the other.

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Soul Rebels. dualdisc. (Silverline - 2845392)

Reissue of the first Marley album to be credited to the Wailers, produced by Lee Perry and originally released in 1970. Features 'Try Me' (the closest Marley ever came to Motown) 'Soul Almighty' 'My Cup' (on which the beat appears to be almost upside down and inside out) and 'No Sympathy' not to mention the apocalyptic Bunny Wailer-fronted "400 Years" which is not only natty but full of dread in both senses of the word. Revised Dualdisc format includes music on one side, lyrics and images on the other.

Bruce Dickinson - Balls To Picasso. dualdisc. (Silverline - 2845182)

Storming sophomore solo set (nice alliteration there!) from MaIden frontman, originally released in 1994 during his temporary absence from the band. Like its predecessor 'Tattooed Millionaire' this was still very much a Metal album, but in a far more eclectic and poppy style (example: there was a conga player on several tracks) than 'Arry Bomber 'Arris's bunch would have allowed for. Tracks included the adventurous epics 'Cyclops' and 'Hell No' hit singles 'Tears Of The Dragon' and 'Shoot All The Clowns' Bruce's decent stab at AOR 'Change Of Heart' and the intriguingly titled 'Laughing In The Hiding Bush'. And now you can hear it in the crisper and super-revised Dualdisc format, with music on one side and lyrics, images and DVD features on t'other. Metaltastic!! WARNING: The track 'Shoot All The Clowns' features a man from Worksop attempting to rap.

Living Colour - Collideoscope. dualdisc. (Silverline - 2845342)

The much-anticipated reunion album from pioneering black Metallers (no, not that sort of 'Black Metal'!!!) originally released 2003 and now available in this improved Dualdisc format. Musically of an even darker bent than its predecessor, the uncompromising 'Stain' (1994) as, like most recent releases from bands based in New York, the lyrical content of the album deals with their response to 9/11. 'Song Without Sin' 'A Of When' 'Flying' and 'Nightmare City' are all as grey, gritty and oppressive as their lyrics might suggest, full of thick slabs of discordant riffage from Vernon Reid: brief respite is found in covers of 'Back In Black' and 'Tomorrow Never Knows' but elsewhere it's a grim journey all the way, and all the more gripping for it. Format includes one side of music, another of photos, lyrics and images.

Motorhead - Ace Of Spades. dualdisc. (Silverline - 2845102)

Not ANOTHER version of Ace Of Spades, I hear you cry!!! Ah, but check this out- the whole album complete with photos, lyrics, images and general 'whatnot' all contained within the actual DISC!! Yes, it's the new DualDisc format- music on one side, schpiel on the other- in short, everything you could possibly want from a CD and more. As for the album itself, well, there's not a lot more that can be said that hasn't already been, except that this is one of the cornerstones of UK heavy rock and if you haven't heard it by now you must have been living in a very secluded wood somewhere!! The title track has now passed into legend, but there's also 'Jailbait' 'We Are The Road Crew' 'The Chase Is Better Than The Catch' 'Love Me Like A Reptile' 'Fast And Loose'. . .WOOOOAAAARRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Sammy Hagar - Live Hallelujah. dualdisc. (Silverline - 2845292)

Dualdisc reissue of the Van Halen frontman on top form, live in a sweaty Midwestern venue (where else) in front of an audience of fist-pounchin' muthas. So down'n' dirty one can almost smell the tequila, whiskey and tacos from the moment the first chord is struck. 'There's Only One Way To Rock' 'Heavy Metal' (nothing like putting your cards on the table, eh, Sam?) 'Three Lock Box' 'I Can't Drive 55' and more balladic material like 'Eagles Fly' and 'Give To Live' rub shoulders with plenty of Halen stuff ('Top Of The World' 'Right Now' 'Dreams' 'Why Can't This Be Love') Montrose material ('Rock Candy') and later Hagar headshredders ('Little White Lies' 'Shaka Doobie' 'Mas Tequila'), performed by a lineup that featured Michael Anthony on bass and toured, believe it or not, as co-headliner to David Lee Roth. Devoid of hardly ANY overdubs, in your face, mixed high and stripped of the candyfloss that coated even the best Hagar and VH albums, this is one L-I-V-E mutha of classic uptempo American metal from a man too old to care anymore about knowing better!! Now available in this sumptuous new format, two sides of disc not only featuring the music but a host of lyrics, pics and features. RAWK!!

Styx - Cyclorama. dualdisc. (Silverline - 2845762)

Dualdisc reissue of 2003-released album from Chicago arena AOR giants- featuring a lineup of Tommy Shaw, James Young, Lawrence Gowan, Glen Burtnik and Todd Sucherman, with contributions from original bassist Chuck Panozzo. This is easily their rockiest and heaviest album since 'Pieces Of Eight' in 1978, and features a band who by all accounts should have been ravaged by tragedy and line-up changes rocking out with renewed joir de vivre and enjoyment. Standout tracks include 'Bourgeois Pig' (featuring Billy Bob Thornton) 'Fields Of The Brave' and 'Killing The One That You Love' as well as the ludicrously daft 'Kiss Your Ass Goodbye' on which the band try to afiliate themselves with pop-punk!! Dualdisc format features music on one side, photos, lyrics and DVD footage on t'other.

Wishbone Ash - Bare Bones. DVD Audio. (Silverline - 288088-9)

This 2000 album features reworkings of the band's classic songs. A mixture of old and new tracks in an acoustic setting. The songs sound fresh and have a contemporary feel. In fact 'Living Proof' has been completely revamped, 'Strange Affair' has a more bar room jam sesion feel which is contrast to the last track 'Everybody Needs A Friend' played with electric guitars and makes a great finisher. Great 5.1 surround sound adds to the atmosphere of this intimate album. Plays in DVD and DVD Audio players.
