20 years before bands like the Hives, Sweden was already well known for it’s amazing garagerock through bands like the Creeps, Crimson Shadows, The Stomachmouths and of course maybe the sharpest of them all; the Backdoor Men. The mighty Backdoor Men originally started up as the mod-band Pow in 1982 but when the amazing vocalist Robert Jelinek, who was also in The Creeps, joined forces with them the they changed their name to The Backdoor Men. The rest is garage rock history. For the first time you can hear all their recordings and read their exciting story. Lots of unreleased bonus tracks, a groovy booklet with extensive liner notes giving an uncensored, first hand, peak in to what really happened + lots of photos etc. It’s all here! The third (2004) and most astounding, album from the young and talented Swedish multi-instrumentalist psych head Gustav Ejstes, aka Dungen. 'Ta det lugnt' is a beautiful multifaceted musical trip straight into the Swedish forests. It offers Dungen's most exciting and adventurous recordings and features stunning musicianship, stellar vocals, Hammond B-3 organ, flute, violin, groovy bass, swinging drums, electric and acoustic guitars and screaming fuzz. Spellbinding Swedish folkrock psych. This is a definite must-buy!!
2007's opus,(and beautiful limited silver foil slipcase) we're hearing the end results of an outpouring of success and support - one which has, for once, inspired the creative processes at hand to make something wholly new and original, yet remaining within the same sphere of emotions that fostered Dungen's three previous albums. Gustav Ejstes, Dungen's founder and principal member, made Tio Bitar (translated, "Ten Pieces") - a bracing display of psychedelic rock, presented with a bright, avid confidence largely by himself, with the assistance of guitarist Reine Fiske. Gustav wrote the songs, and played all of the instruments on his own, with Reine on many lead guitar and bass parts; his style of play puts him well within the top ranks of modern guitar heroes past and present. A psychedelic masterpiece that will put each listener in a higher state of mind. Please note the initial (limited) pressing has deluxe silver packaging.

Life on Earth! Is the talented multi-instrumentalist Mattias Gustavssons, from the Swedish band Dungen, solo project. Together with some fellow travelling kindred musical spirits (musicians from Dungen, The Works, Town & Country and Mia Doi Todd) he has created an amazingly deep and timeless album filled with shimmering vibrant psychedelic folkrock-pop . The basic idea is to make music that celebrates the incredible and absolutely wonderful phenomenon of life on Earth, hoping to spread some joy to any possible listeners. The project has been going on since 2003. Barefoot on tiptoe, in a bubble of magic, swirling elegantly among the stars. Right in between, both after and before, nobody really knows where we came from or where we are going. And if one claims one already knows, one must not forget the eluding future.

We found one copy of this compilation of previously unreleased material by a group of related mid '60s Swedish garage bands. Featuring Klunk's Klan, WWH, Staffan and Martin and LSD this is a fascinating glimpse into Sweden in the '60s. With insert.
A very rare album from 1976 of recordings that Merrell Fankhauser made just after MU split up and whilst he was living in the beautiful jungle surroundings of the Island of Maui. The recordings are very similar in style and execution to those made by MU with wonderful hippy psych/folk stylings featuring Merrell's crystal clear voice backed by acoustic and electric instrumentation..
The band MU was formed in 1969 when Merrell Fankhauser teamed up with Jeff Cotton of Captain Beefhearts band. When it was discovered that the Hawaiian Islands could have remnants of the sunken Mu civilization, the band decided to move to the island of Maui. But by 1974 all but Merrell Fankhauser had left for the mainland. Merrell was now staying with his girlfriend violinist Mary Lee in the two story Tarzan style jungle house which Merrell had built, complete with flowing lily ponds. They did a special Black Crow ceremony with 400 devoted hippies all meditating for peace and harmony for all beings on the earth. Merrell and Mary were the first musicians in the United States to play modern music for the Lama. They lived in the Maui rain forest in their jungle retreat for over seven years. Late in 1975 they visited L.A and recorded the Maui Album. The album recording originally started at MCA Studios in Hollywood with producer Dino Airelli who went on to head up Dark Horse Records for George Harrison. Due to Dinos busy schedule he was unable to finish the album. It was later finished in San Francisco and came out on a small independent label Maui Music. It sold a few thousand copies and disappeared. The album is released here in its entirety with 7 bonus tracks including an unreleased version of "Some Of Them Escaped". This is a true artefact from the Hippy dream of Peace, Love and Harmony for the world!
Mylla came into fruitation at the now legendary illicit club/speakesy BZ in a Stockholm cellar. Mylla is the ultimate psychedelic party-band for the loosely knitted family of musicians centered around the Subliminal Sounds label (like Dungen, The Works, Life on Earth! and St. Mikael and many other Swedish psychsters). Were happy to finally be releasing their debut album "Vanya". The album was recorded in a limestone cottage at a secluded island far out in the Baltic Sea known by sailors for centuries as the "White Hawaii". The island Faro has been closed for all foreigners up until a few years as it contains several top secret army bases. The music is steeped in the Swedish 70s "Prog" tradition. Like Dungen the band sings in Swedish but unlike Dungen the Mylla experience might only be for the natives, but at least its no longer forbidden for anyone to try it out. Gustav Ejstes from Dungen turns up as a guest with his fiddle too.
First time exact vinyl reissue of the rare, legendary and highly praised LP, dating from 1974, by urban hillbilly one-man-band ‘outsider artist’ Grudzien. Also included is a bonus LP record, 'the Garden of Love', with some truly amazing and haunting unreleased material spanning the years 1950s-70s. The Garden of Love LP includes, amongst others, a song about wandering around in the desert eating peyote.Limited edition of 500 copies only WORLDWIDE!

If you dug volume 1 of Thai Beat A Go-Go, you’ll go crazy over the 2nd volume that includes more incredible and ultra rare recordings from Thailand in the 1960s. It concentrates on exotic female pop, go-go funk and rock vocal numbers, beat, a go-go, psych and some very weird tracks, extreme sensuality and emotions, surreal and groovy, all with a totally otherworldly Thai flavor. Experience the blossoming Bangkok night club scene with the exotic bar and lounge go-go bands! There is a lot of work and effort behind these comps and they have taken a long time to compile. Records with Thai 60s-70s rock/pop a-go-go bands are incredible hard, if not impossible, to find as there is no Thai tradition of saving native artifacts from the 1960s.

These albums have become two of the ultimate Swedish early 70's underground psychedelic erotica albums.Tom together with a bunch of stoned studio musicians, some beautiful hippie nymphs and a whole bunch of drugged out freaks recorded the albums in both Swedish and English. The English versions have remained unreleased until this point where you can now listen to this XXX rated monster. This is great groovy, wasted acid erotica with loads and loads of heavy fuzz-wah-wah guitars and really over the top erotic/filth (English) lyrics.
The first in Subliminal Sounds series of "Swedish Underground Archives". This series focuses on classic yet mostly unreleased recordings by Swedish Progressive Psychedelic groups from the 1960s-1970s. First out is one of the best ever recordings from the legendary Trad Gras & Stenar (Trees Grass & Stones) The sound is just amazing a stoned lysergic wall of acid guitars jamming away and never letting up, pounding bass, furious drums and mystical howling vocals . Great '60's styled neo-retro psych pop with a nod towards early Pink Floyd from the band closely linked with Swedish band Dungen. The Works lead singer and guitarist Andreas handled the bass playing for Dungen on their 2004 US tour, and several Dungen members guest on this release. A quintet, all of whom are individually singer/songwriters playing many instruments, hence the depth and intricacy of their sound, The Works are saturated in many influences from the clattering bombast of Keith Moon style drumming to the trippyness of early Floyd like jamming. However in the end, the Works are transcending their influences, becoming more themselves and no one else. Take the Nordic acid test and jack-up on The Works.
