Bo Grumpus - Before The War. CD. (Synton Productions - AC70312)

Great 1968 Atco US psych/pop/rock album by this Boston four piece, produced and arranged by Felix Pappalardi before he joined Mountain. Pappalardi also shares some writing credits with the band (there is an early version of "Travelling In the Dark" later recorded with Mountain) and he plays on a couple of cuts, but this is by no means a heavy rock record. At times the album has quite an unusual spaced out folky pop feel to it and overall is more of a typical 1968 pop/rock psych album - certainly not what one would normally expect from Pappalardi. Singer/guitarist Eddie Mottau went on to play guitar on John Lennon's "Walls And Bridges" and "Rock'n'Roll".

Comfortable Chair - Comfortable Chair. CD. (Synton Productions - AE 2445)

California-based pop/rock psychedelic sextet who left behind this sole album from 1968. Recorded for Lou Adler's Ode Records label it was produced by The Doors' Robbie Krieger and John Densmore. This is Californian sunshine pop psych with trippy lyrics ("Child's Garden") through religious overtones ("Stars in Heaven") and at points there are flashes of Jefferson Airplane and The Peanut Butter conspiracy in the bands male/female vocal harmonies. One of the better obscure albums from this era.NOW DELETED THIS IS THE LAST COPY OF THIS ALBUM

Dear Mr Time - Grandfather. CD. (Synton Productions - ASQ 228264)

CD re-release from the obscure and rare British psyche prog outfit recorded at the Island Studios in 1970.Typical of early 70's uk outfits this band used Guitars,Flutes Harpsichords, treated vocals etc. The songs change in tempo especially on the opening cut "Birth",while the six minute "Make Your Own Peace" opens with gentle flute before going into an overdriven sax and guitar riff. This really is an obscure missing piece of UK psyche prog mixing elements of Caravan,King Crimson, Bulldog Breed etc.

Denny King - Evil Wind Is Blowing. CD. (Synton Productions - SPS5003)

Reissue on CD of the excellent but rare psychedelic heavy blues album issued in 1972 by the late Denny King and B.O boogie band who featured 'Captain Beefheart's Magic Band's members Alex St. Claire (guitars) and Doug Moon (harp). This album sounds so close to "Safe As Milk" era Beefheart it's spooky, with some furious guitars and sneaky slide along with howling harp and suitably loco crazy vocals. Great!NOW DELETED THESE ARE THE LAST COPIES OF THIS ALBUM

Druids Of Stonehenge - Creation. CD. (Synton Productions - 1610985)

Long overdue issue on CD of this killer rare '60s psychedelic punk / freakbeat album from the USA. Facedancers - Facedancers. CD. (Synton Productions - TS3096)

Early US prog crossover album from 1972 with some psyche influences noticable on the harmony vocals. Produced by Teo Macero of Miles Davis fame. Creatively designed songs that show thoughtful experimentalism. The lead singer claims he hits the highest note ever recorded by a man on a rock record. True or not - the girly-sounding vocals work well in this context. Interesting album that rewards a few close listens.

Rare Dutch prog with a psychedelic bent from 1970. Organ & guitars dominate the sound throughout the album. Featuring ex-Dragonfly (yes the awesome '60's Dutch psych band) lead vocalist John Caljouw the album is a great mixture of keyboard and sax led songs that drive along in a terrific early 70's prog style. Of particular note is the 6 minute "Spanish Roads" which contains excellent guitars and swirling Hammond B3 keyboards.

Heavy psyche prog from Canada (1969) and an essential piece of Canadian prog history. It's an album with dominating guitar and organ. The opening 9 minute cut "Jenny wake Up" comes in like early Deep Purple before blasting off all over the place with manic vocals and Atomic Rooster styled keyboards. The album follows this path throughout and has an amazing long keybord solo on the 11 minute "Communication"..NOW DELETED THESE ARE THE THE LAST COPIES OF THIS ALBUM

Osmosis (Charlie Mariano) - Osmosis. CD. (Synton Productions - SR6984)

Originally released on RCA this 1970 progressive Jazz rock outfit created a full blown rock based performance with two drummers. The wall of sound was amazing with alto and soprano saxophones- courtesy of the great Charlie Mariano, whose career since 1944 has included bebop with Shelly Manne and electronic fusion with Eberhard Weber's Colours- wailing over the wall of sound. The mood ranges from spacey and saxy to (as evidenced on title track) full-on heavy stoner acid doom.

Summerhill - Summerhill. CD. (Synton Productions - T-T1404)

Reissue on CD of the one and only album by late '60's USA psych band Summerhill, which was originally released in 1969. Often compared to HP Lovecraft and sometimes Euphoria (Texas) this is a lush orchestrated, melodic and dynamic album featuring atmospheric 60's psychedelic-pop/rock with diverse influences. The sound get's heavy in places with a dash of acid drenched 60's guitar based rock and weird backward effects whilst elsewhere such as during "The Last Time" there is a laid back country rock vibe.
