Atomic Bitchwax - Atomic Bitchwax. LP. (Tee Pee Records - 657674-1009-1) US power trio featuring Monster Magnet guitarist Ed Mundell, this is an excellent hard rocking blend of searing wah-wah, guitars and a powerful rhythm section, that features original compositions as well as songs by Tommy Bolin and Core. We've heard a lot of stoner rock this year, but this is a truly awesome addition to the genre.

Bad Wizard - Sophisticated Mouth. CD. Second album from these New York retro rockers who carry on in their straight down the line boogie rock/late '60s Detroit garage sound. The CD contains an incredible cover of Uriah Heeps 'Love Machine'

Brian Jonestown Massacre - And This Is Our Music. CD. (Tee Pee Records - TPE052) Eighth album (2003) from What? Not enough drugs? act the BJM and this sees them on the reprise to "Prozac Vs. Heroin" delving into electronica?On the whole the album is trippy and spacey and there are plenty of nods to the Stones' acoustic psychedelia laced with electronic blips and wheezes that bring to mind the late 90's hybridization of rock and trance.Great mini gatefold album sleeve.

Brought Low - The Brought Low. CD. (Tee Pee Records - TP-036) Late '60s and early '70s heavy rock influences are combined to perfection. Flashes of The Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd and even AC/DC are woven together into the most powerful and uplifting rock album we have heard for some time. From New York this power trio really cook up a quality brew that burns with the best of them. Very cool indeed.

Drunk Horse - In Tongues. CD. (Tee Pee Records - TP061CD) This latest 2005 bombshell on Tee Pee records shows the band to have their sights pointed towards the future, as well as over their shoulders.Singer/guitarist Eli Eckert is quick to list ZZ Top (pre-‘Eliminator’) as a prime "stylistic motivator" but in the same breath the group’s leader mentions the Melvins, Jesus Lizard, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and MilesDavis.Stormer of a release this one!

Earthless - Rhythms From A Cosmic Sky. CD. (Tee Pee Records - TPE076CD) Recorded by Tim Green (Pearls & Bress / Melvins / The Fucking Champs) in January 2007, this is the Mario Rubalaba led acid blues rock group. The trio, based out of San Diego formed due to their joint love of under the radar records like Japanese psychedelia and Garage Rock. They decided to create their own Japanese style psychedelic / Heavy Kraut Rock; their subsequent live shows were notoriously different from show to show and real crowd pullers. This is their new release, the brilliant band dynamics bring out the best of their Sabbath / Amon Duul II / Hendrix / Groundhogs influenced Rock.

Sleep - Dopesmoker. CD. (Tee Pee Records - TP049CD) It could be said that this is the band keeping the Sabbath dream alive. Pure Psychedelic Doom Metal is what Sleep is all about, trippy, heavy, and groove-bleeding power that smashes bones in a slow, swirling stomp. This their 2003 release has 2 songs and the title-track is over an hour long.( Originally released in 1998 as the cleaned up and shortened 54 minutes "Jerusalem") A detuned ocean of surreal power, it smashes with a slow, crushing intensity. Clean, woeful howls linger through the dense dread of electric gloom. Great digi pack sleeve with stoned artwork.

Tricky Woo - Les Sables Magiques. CD. (Tee Pee Records - TP-033CD) Great second album by this Canadian band who take guitar led heavy rock, psych, pop, folk and blues and mix them to create a powerful rock concoction that surprises at every turn. Hard to accurately describe this album needs to be savored to fully enjoy it's varied textures. Highly recommended! Got underground album of the month in Mojo.

Warlocks - Heavy Deavy Skull Lover. CD. (Tee Pee Records - TPE082) Tee Pee Records recently signed the L.A. scuzz rockers with no idea who was in the current line-up, no current band images. Always shrouded in mystery and dressed in black, this once octet known for their signature sound and live shows, compared a million times to the Velvet Underground’s exploding plastic inevitable have made a habit of doing the unexpected. The new stripped down line up recorded this new album in a matter of weeks with the help of their first producer Rod Cervera.

Witch - Witch (U.S.). CD. (Tee Pee Records - TPE065CD) The group Witch was born in 2005 from a marriage of apparently contradictory influences. J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. renown and his long time friend Dave Sweetapple were interested in forming a hard rock band. They found willing and able conspirators in Kyle Thomas and Asa Irons, members of New England avant-folk outfit Feathers. On their eponymous debut album, this line-up mounts a mighty sonic tumult that harkens back to the classic heavy metal sound of early 70’s outfits while still sounding modern in it’s assault (and without falling into the ubiquitous 'Stoner Rock' pigeonhole). In Witch, Mascis returns to his first love, drums, playing with an unbridled passion that recalls his work with Deep Wound, his early 80’s hardcore band. Witch headed into the studio and recorded their debut album with engineer John Agnello, immediately following an extensive Dinosaur Jr. reunion tour last Summer.Housed in a digi-pack sleeve.
