Earl Scruggs Revue - Artists Choice:best Tracks 1970-1980. CD. (Westside - EDCD552) Scruggs formed the Earl Scruggs Revue with his two sons. The Revue appealed more to a young and urban audience and, with dobro player Josh Graves, played rock and other non-country music with guest's such as Roger McGuinn, Johnny Cash, Alvin Lee, and Clarence White who are all featured on this CD.

Judy Clay & Marie Knight - Bluesoul Belles - The Complete Scepter And Musicor Recording. CD. (Westside - WESA897) Since the premature passing of Judy Clay, in 2001, this collection is now a fitting tribute to some of the greatest gospel/soul recordings of the mid sixties. This is a split CD with Clay and Knight taking a half each and, with the addition of previously unheard alternate versions, it will be sure to find place amongst your favourite soul albums.

This has got to be the most comprehensive collection of this man's work and will have you wondering why you never checked him out before.

Lost Generation - Sly, Slick, And The Wicked/the Young, Tough And Terrible. CD. (Westside - DIAB8016) 2 on 1 with the studio albums from 1970 & 72. This great US soul act bucked the sweet falsetto trend style groups to provide a fresh sound of hard dry lead vocals provided by Lowrell Simon. Loudon Wainwright - More Love Songs. CD. (Westside - DIAB8046) Richard Thompson once again in the producer's chair, Wainwright offered up this fine batch of tunes that cover everything from global disharmony ("Hard Day on the Planet") to a bad drug trip ("Acid Song"). The balance of sharp wit and emotional impact throughout the disc makes this one of Wainwrights very best albums.This is the album that contains the potentially offensive (Vampire Blues). Featuring his two Jewel albums, 'In A Heavy Bag' and 'I've Got The Blues' plus a host of unreleased material, this is not one to miss out on.

Magic Sam - With A Feeling (The Cobra, Chief And Crash Masters 1957-67). CD. (Westside - WESX 302) Stunning value 54 tracker incorporating three complete LPs, single and EP tracks and rare and alternate mixes by this superb UK '60s band. From the commercial hits of "Flowers In The Rain", "Blackberry Way", " I Can Hear The Grass Grow" and "Fire Brigade" to the more experimental sitar-laden psychedelia of the "Shazam" LP, this comprehensive box deserves a home in most collections.

O'Jays - The Significant Singles (The US R&B Chart Hits N' Flips 1976. 3-CD Set. (Westside - WESX306) An overview of the classic Philadelphia International recordings by the O'Jays that contains full length version of previously edited tracks (that were released as sigles). A properly funky collection.

Procol Harum - 30th Anniversary Anthology. 3-CD Set. (Westside - WESX 301) As comprehensive as it gets, here you have the first four Procol Harum albums (Procol Harum,Shine on Brightly,Salty Dog and Home) mastered from the original tapes together with a complete extra disc of singles, outtakes and alternate mixes(17 tracks in all) all beautifully packaged with in depth annotation. Covering the years 1967-1970, this set just can't be bettered.

Sir Douglas Quintet - Prime Of SDQ - The Best Of The Tribe Recordings. Dble CD. (Westside - WESD241) Featuring 41 superb tracks taken from recordings made between 1964 and 1977. Together, these songs go some way towards illustrating the following quote from the late Doug Sahm himself: "I'm a part of Willie Nelson's world and at the same a time I'm a part of the Grateful Dead's. I don't ever stay in one bag."

Sonny James - 200 Years Of Country Music+ In Prison, In Person. CD. (Westside - WESA877) These albums from 1976 and 1977, by one of the twenty most successful country artsits of all time, are both new to CD and come complete with a spoken introduction by the man himself.

Sonny Landreth - Prodigal Son. CD. (Westside - WESM642) Highly praised by the likes of Eric Clapton, Sonny Landreth is one of Louisiana's most talented sons, managing to pull off both remarkable slide guitar lines aswell as incredible vocals. This collection features 20 tracks from between 1973 and 1977.

Toussaint McCall - Nothing Takes The Place Of You (The Ronn Recording. CD. (Westside - WESA870) A collection of recordings that have been largely unavailable for years, this is a great reminder of how deep this man's soul really was. Worth getting just for the sublime 'Nothing Takes The Place Of You' which was reprised for the John Waters film, 'Hairspray'.

(Westside - WESA833) The first of two CDs devoted to the Brunswick & Chi-Sound recordings of smooth soul man, Walter Jackson. This volume concentrates on his 'soulier' work whereas the cream of his 'ballads and standards' are featured on the sceond volume.

Willie Clayton - Midnight Doctor (Willie Clayton's Greatest Hits). CD. (Westside - WESF101) A collection of the most popular tunes from his three Ace albums, this Chicago R n'B hero, and compatriot of Otis Clay, is a living legend having notched up a very impressive back catalogue since the late sixties.

Z.Z. Hill - Let's Make A Deal & The Mark Of Z.Z.. CD. (Westside - WESA876) The complete Columbia recordings of the late Z.Z. Hill - "The Man Who Invented BlueSoul" - as they were originally released on two vinyl albums, with nothing missing! This is real downhome Southern soulfulness (which is amazing considering the fact that it was recorded in New York.)
