Jade Warrior - Kites. CD. (Eclectic - ECLCD1043) The '74 album that followed on from the ambient Waves, made by the UK progressive rock and making it's debut on CD. Remastered from the original master tapes, featuring extensive liner notes, deluxe slip casing and fully restored artwork. More structured than Waves, this album is split into two halves (and twelve songs rather than just two parts of the sAme Song like it's predecessor.) The first half is Jon Field tracks that attempt to represent the movement of a kite through various skies, stormy and peaceful; as always incorporating world instruments (in this case percussion) and his marvellous flute playing. Tony Duhig's half is a real treat and something that is highly unusual. Ambient music of such intensity and drama that it almost defies the genre. A superbly focussed and well sequenced album. Featuring guest Fred Frith of Henry Cow.

Laibach - Sympathy For The Devil. LP. (Mute - LPMUTE80) Eastern European industrial experimentalists with a heavy political leaning, Laibach have often found themselves in conflict with the authorities. On this eight track album, The Rolling Stones are the subject for their venom this time round, stripping apart the original and remaking it seven times over in various forms. Potentially a terrible idea, the groups ability to reinvent the sAme Song over and over agin, taking different sections and twisting it into their own bombastic, stomping song. Their sampling is inventive, incorporating bits of JFK speeches, psychedelic references and interviews with the Stones to twist it into something completely different. The version in a hushed German growl is a particular favourite. Industrial electronic music at it's most original best.

Los Locos Del Ritmo - Rock Con Los Locos Del Ritmo. 10". (Electro Harmonix - 07) One of the greatest Rock & Roll records ever released is the Los Locos del Ritmo debut, where they were playing sAme Songs the original rockers from the US.This is considered to be one of the best non North-american Rock & Roll records made in the 50’s. Includes 2 bonus tracks ! Limited to 500 copies !

Monkees - Missing Links Volume 3. CD. (Rhino - R2 72153) The third and final selection of rarities, oddities and outtakes from The Monkees. Includes an alternate mix of the Mike Nesmith classic "Circle Sky" and all manner of weirdness including the TV version of "The Monkees' Theme" and an Italian version of the sAme Song; "Tema Dei Monkees"! Ay caramba!!!

Rocky Fellers - Look At Killer Joe Go (The Complete Scepter Recordings). CD. (Edsel / Demon Westside - WESA 898) The complete recordings of this early '60's rock n roll band that got forgotten in the explosion of the British Invasion. Notably covering the sAme Songs as the Beatles and most of the many rhythm and blues outfits ("Twist And Shout", "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear") at the same time, their arrival on the scene couldn't have been worse timed and denied them the chance of a long term career they could have had. Twenty three tracks by the four Filipino brothers and their father, including their hit single, "Killer Joe", "She Makes Me Wanna Dance" and "Bye Bye Baby"

Sandy Denny - Like An Old Fashioned Waltz. CD. (Island - IMCD315) Digitally remastered copy and housed in a slipcase of the 1973 release from this unique singer songwriter that featured her cover of "Whispering Grass". Little did she know that her version would not become a hit, but also that a year later, comedians Windsor Davies and Don Estelle would take the sAme Song to No.1 in the UK. No wonder she sought solace in the bottle!!! This was to be her last solo record for 4 years, as soon after she would become involved in an ill-fated attempt to rejoin Fairport and 'crack America'. Other key tracks: "No End," " Dark The Night," "Solo," and a barnstorming version of Sammy Cahn's "Until The Real Thing Comes Along" which is made even more poignant considering the life of the artist concerned. The second of her gradual steps away from folk.
