Hammer Horror - Mummy OST (Reisenstein). CD. (GDI - GDICD006)

The absolutely super duper (it sez here) orchestral soundtrack by Franz Reisenstein that graced this seminal 1959 Hammer movie, starring of course Peter Cushing (IT'S THE CUSH!! IT'S THE CUSH!!) as Dr John Banning, Christopher Lee as the titular fiend (actually called Kharis) and Yvonne Furneaux (schlurrrpp!!) as Cushing's wife, who is of course the reincarnation of the mummy's dead mistress- and we're supposed to believe he hasn't twigged this until the last reel, despite supposedly having been an expert on the subject for over 20 years. Ah, plot expediency, dontcha just love it?. . Classic soundtrack, classic film.

Peter Green - Me & The Devil. 3-CD Box Set. (Recall Box/Snapper - SBOX028)

Unusual box set which combines Greeny's two late 90s albums of Robert Johnson covers ('Hotfoot Powder' and 'The Robert Johnson Songbook') with an album's worth of originals from the man himself. Now fans can compare the original with the next generation. They're both great, of course, but the second Green disc is definitely the most interesting of three, featuring as it does Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, Dr John, Hubert Sumlin and Joe Louis Walker.

Toussaint Touch - Various. CD. (RPM Shout! - RPMSH211)

Comprehensive collection of just some (it wouldn't pe possible to fit them all!) of the covers recorded by disciples of this legendary New Orleans blues and soul man, the man whose name is as synonymous with the city as that of Dr John (who wouldn't exist without Toussaint anyway) The 22 songs collected here come from his period as chief songwriter and producer at both the Instant and Alon labels: artists featured include Aaron Neville, Irma Thomas, Art Neville, Jessie Hill, Curly Moore, enny Spellman and many others-performing a mixture of both rare and well known tunes. Compiled and annotated by noted genre authority Clive Richardson, this captures the essence of the early 60s soul sound as well as one could imagine.
