Life On Earth - Look There Is!. CD. (Subliminal Sounds - SUBCD 20)

Life on Earth! Is the talented multi-instrumentalist Mattias Gustavssons, from the Swedish band Dungen, solo project. Together with some fellow travelling kindred musical spirits (musicians from Dungen, The Works, Town & Country and Mia Doi Todd) he has created an amazingly deep and timeless album filled with shimmering vibrant psychedelic folkrock-pop . The basic idea is to make music that celebrates the incredible and absolutely wonderful phenomenon of life on Earth, hoping to spread some joy to any possible listeners. The project has been going on since 2003. Barefoot on tiptoe, in a bubble of magic, swirling elegantly among the stars. Right in between, both after and before, nobody really knows where we came from or where we are going. And if one claims one already knows, one must not forget the eluding future.

Mylla - Vanja. CD. (Subliminal Sounds - SUBCD 19)

Mylla came into fruitation at the now legendary illicit club/speakesy BZ in a Stockholm cellar. Mylla is the ultimate psychedelic party-band for the loosely knitted family of musicians centered around the Subliminal Sounds label (like Dungen, The Works, Life on Earth! and St. Mikael and many other Swedish psychsters). Were happy to finally be releasing their debut album "Vanya". The album was recorded in a limestone cottage at a secluded island far out in the Baltic Sea known by sailors for centuries as the "White Hawaii". The island Faro has been closed for all foreigners up until a few years as it contains several top secret army bases. The music is steeped in the Swedish 70s "Prog" tradition. Like Dungen the band sings in Swedish but unlike Dungen the Mylla experience might only be for the natives, but at least its no longer forbidden for anyone to try it out. Gustav Ejstes from Dungen turns up as a guest with his fiddle too.

Works - The Works. CD. (Subliminal Sounds - SUBCD14)

Great '60's styled neo-retro psych pop with a nod towards early Pink Floyd from the band closely linked with Swedish band Dungen. The Works lead singer and guitarist Andreas handled the bass playing for Dungen on their 2004 US tour, and several Dungen members guest on this release. A quintet, all of whom are individually singer/songwriters playing many instruments, hence the depth and intricacy of their sound, The Works are saturated in many influences from the clattering bombast of Keith Moon style drumming to the trippyness of early Floyd like jamming. However in the end, the Works are transcending their influences, becoming more themselves and no one else. Take the Nordic acid test and jack-up on The Works.
