Black Angels - Passover. CD. (Light In The Attic - LITA018CD)

2006 debut album from Austin USA's drone n rollers. This is the sound of a bad mescaline trip in the searing heat of the desert. It's the sound of '60s psychedelia reinvented through post-millennial angst. It's dangerous, it’s dark and it's Texas-sized in scope. Politically astute, clearly against the Irag war and dealing in '60's era psychedelia reinvented for the new century, this is stoner / rural rock at its best. Dark and dangerous, this is the past brought up to date in devastating fashion. Relentless drones from the ever present organ, searing guitars and rumbling drums are the six piece's speciality. Perfect late night music. Includes: "The First Vietnam War", "BloodHounds On My Trail", "Black Grease." and more.Beautiful card fold out packaging.

Charlie Tweddle - Fantastic Greatest Hits. CD.

An eccentric folk artist who cut a full-length concept LP in Marin County, CA back in the '70s (Fantastic Greatest Hits) that up till now only lucky Northern California thrift Hounds have ever heard. This guy is LSD-big-picture-deep and takes you on a sound tour through his crazy world. You'll hear tape experiments over cosmic country and folk/blues numbers and a chirping cricket concert on side two! Our friends compare Tweddle to artists as far-ranging as Beck and Peter Grudzien! For all three of you out there who've already heard this rare wonder, there's six added bonus tracks recorded during the same period as the LP.

Eloy - Colours. CD. (EMI - 5637752)

A landmark album in the 80s German Progressive Rock scene. Eloy's transition from Pink Floyd alike progsters to space Hounds of the highest order occurred here. This was the first album from the new 80s line-up and it clearly marked a change of approach. While the 70's sounding synths remained and it was far from conforming to the new ideals of the age, there is a new directness of attack, a propulsive energy which echoes the best art-rock of the 1970s. Easily one of the best Eloy albums, a real treat. Officially remastered CD reissue with expanded booklet.

Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love. CD. (EMI - 5252392)

After the relative commercial failure of 'The Dreaming', which effectively alienated half of her fanbase, the divine Ms Bush set about recording the album which she believed would fully realise her most complex and adventurous ideas and recapture the pop sensibility she had forsaken. It didn't quite do either, but 'Hounds Of Love' is still probably her most all encompassing work. One side, although comprised of separate songs (standouts including 'Waking The Witch' 'Jig Of Life' and 'Hello Earth'), is actually a concept piece entitled 'The Ninth Wave' (showing her prog roots): the other side, which spawned three hit singles in 'Running Up That Hill' (her biggest hit bar 'Wuthering Heights' and a huge smash on the Goth dancefloors) 'Cloudbusting' (later sampled by Utah Saints) and 'Hounds Of Love' itself, plus fan faves 'And Dream Of Sheep' and 'The Big Sky' is more easily digestable but, with its thunderous percussion and unorthodox vocals (her voice having lowered considerably since the previous album), not necessarily any more commercial. 21 years later, the sound may have dated, but the songs still hold up and are a testament to the development and growth of a major force in music.

Kate Bush - The Sensual World. CD. (EMI - CDP7930782)

Kate's final album of the 80s may be the least classic of her repertoire to date, but one must remember, a lesser album from Ms Bush is still a silk purse compared to the sows' ears of other artists. Once again spawning three hit singles ('This Woman's Work' 'Love And Anger' and the title track) but forsaking the sweeping grandiosity of 'Hounds Of Love' for a slightly murkier mix of electronics ('Deeper Understanding') , Celtic instrumentation ('The Fog') East European choirs ('Rocket's Tail') and maybe a shade too many backing vocals that obscured Kate's own sensuous voice (the whole album, but in particular 'Between A Man And A Woman') When she gets it right, however, as on 'Reaching Out' 'Heads We're Dancing' and the aforemenntioned singles, the results are amazing: more significantly, the presence of jazz bassist Eberhard Weber, who had first collaborated with her on 'Hounds. . .' is more pronounced here, and results in some ravishing instrumental textures.
