Although primarily a pop record, the direction she was taking was considerably more rock-oriented than anything she had done with 'that band' hence the inclusion of songs written by Tony Ashton and Russ Ballard. After 22 years it still sounds great, especially when bolstered by bonus tracks and a flawless remaster. Excellent booklet included.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Altered States Of America. CD. (Relapse - RR65332) 100 tracks on one (3-inch) CD!! Tighter than a homophobe's clenched buttocks (which may actually be one of their songtitles for all we know) and faster than an Olympic sprinter with the runs, Agoraphobic Nosebleed deal in rapid-fire bursts of grindcore 'aaaaaarg', agit-spazz blastbeats, avant-noise interludes, samples and the kind of time-changes that would make Zappa's "One Size Fits All" rhythm section have apoplexy. And whilst most grind bands tend to deliver the goods in a very staccato fashion, these chaps take a far- dare I say it?- proggier approach to their noise, with every single track representing part of a much larger continuum. Agoraphobic's world seems to revolve around demented imagery (no surprise there folks) that includes religious cults, drug conspiracies and bizarre Sexual proclivities ('Black Metal Transvestite' 'Living Lolita Blowjob' 'Drive By Blowjob On A Bicycle' 'Fuck Your Soccer Jesus' 'Serpent Of The Gay Pride Rainbow' 'When Taking A Shit Feels Sexy' 'Placing A Memo On The Boss's Desk'and the all time classic 'Watching A Clown Point A Gun At A Small Dog' are just SOME of the inspired titles that grace this release!) and you just know there's NO chance whatsoever of these dudes having a hit single of any kind. Sheer mind-slicing genius, and only just over 21 minutes long. Move over Sore Throat, the new kids are in town!!

Annette Peacock - Perfect Release. LP. (Earmark - 42081) 1979 album from this avant garde singer/composer and pianist. Astrud Gilberto - September 17 1969. CD. (Rev Ola - CRREV193) Brazilian jazz/bossa singer Astrud Gilberto was the epitome of the swinging Rio beach babe. This album finds her moving into a more softpop psychy version of her Sexy style without losing any of the funky playing. Largely covers of everyone who made records in the '60's (The Doors, Bee Gees, Beatles and so on), it is a surprising addition to her back catalogue and one that fully expresses her vocal talents. A welcome return for this rare album.

Astrud Gilberto - Talkin' Verve. CD. (Verve Records - 539 675-2) Excellent compilation of '60s/70s material by the voice of "The Girl From Ipanema". Tropicalia, Bossa Nova lounge grooves with lush orchestral sounds, funky keyboards, quirky pop arrangements and of course Astrud's dreamy, Sexy voice. Includes ace covers of songs by ('60s) Bee Gees, Association, and Chicago as well as previously unreleased original material. Cool!

(RPM - RPM 107) One of the foremost '80s indie bands with two women - two men line up who set out to show that the Sexes could work together in the rock business. All subject matter was tackled in a forthright manner from monogamy to political prisoners which gained them a huge reputation, along with their post punk funk sound. This CD includes the original album which charted in 1981, along with three singles including the infamous "Come Again", banned by Radio One.

Au Pairs - Stepping Out Of Line- The Anthology. Dble CD. (Sanctuary/Castle - CMQDD1338) What more can be said about the Au Pairs? Well, quite a lot actually. They don't get written about enough, as none of them are dead and/or called Bob Dylan, so we at Freak Emporium feel it is our job to inform you that they were possibly the finest female fronted UK post-punk band (although feminist lesbian frontwoman Lesley Woods would abhor such a catagorisation) of all time, that they influenced everyone from Hole, the Go Gos and the Smiths to Franz Ferdinand and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and that this double CD set, which features their complete recorded output (remixed in places) is an essential purchase for anyone with a love of post punk. Actually, scrap that- it's essential for anyone with a love of music per se. Disc 1 features both their seminal albums 'Playing With A Different Sex' and 'Sense And Sensuality', Disc 2 features non LP BBC sessions, unreleased tracks and demos, and live material. Compiled and reseached with the assistance of the band themselves: let's just hope people take notice this time!!

She was still probably the greatest female jazz and blues singer that ever lived, and in the decades since her untimely death in 1943 at the age of 39 her legend has rightfully grown. During her short life she recorded with Fletcher Henderson, Coleman Hawkins, James P Johnson, John Redman, Louis Armstrong and Champion Jack Dupree, but the recordings that set the world on fire were under her own name- radical not only in vocal technique but also because she was the first female singer to write the majority of her own material, and was openly biSexual. Cannonball Adderley & The Bossa Rio Sextet - Cannonball's Bossa Nova. CD. (Capital - 522 6672) This album combines the outstanding jazz talent of Cannonball with an exciting group of Brazilian's aka Sergio Mendes's Bossa Rio Sextet. Making a heady rhythmical album of irrepressible Latin bossa nova. At all times this 1962 album offers a thoroughly intriguing fusion of jazz improvisation and South American spirit.

Casey Jones & The Governors - Don't Ha Ha. CD. (Repertoire Records - REP 4674) One of the earliest Merseyside artists to get on the beat band-wagon & head out to Germany in search of Sex, drugs & rock 'n' roll, Casey liked it so much, he didn't bother to come back! This CD includes hit smash hit "Don't Ha Ha" and the 1964 album named after it, plus 15 bonus tracks from singles '63 - '66... A rock & roll / beat treasure hove, with liner notes band history from Chris Welch.

Chaotic Dischord - Their Greatest Fuckin' Hits. CD. (Anagram Records - CDPUNK27) Without doubt the most (deliberately) obscene punk band of all time. Chaotic Dischord released some brilliant protest punk singles in the early '80s, all of which are included on this 30 track "Best Of" which also includes their versions of the Sex Pistols "Great Rock And Roll Swindle" and The Damned's "Stab Your Back".

Charge - Perfection Plus (The Best Of Charge). CD. (Anagram Records - CDMGRAM96) Formed in the squat punk community of London in the late 1970s, Charge (led by the inimitable Stu P. Idiot) stood out from the crowd by incorporating elements of Sexual deviance, high camp, glam and baroque punk, alongside an engaging and often surreal sense of humour. They were one of the best live acts on the London circuit during thjat period, cultivating an impressive fanbase, and were especially popular in mainland Europe where they regularly toured. This new Cherry Red release sees them immortalised on CD for the first time, featuring all their studio recordings for the Kamera label, including the musch cherished album Perfection, and three independent Top 10 hits, notably the hugely amusing 'Fashion'. The deluxe package also features the band's extremely rare debut single 'Kings Cross' for the Test ressing label: the whole shebang has been compiled as a tribute to the late vocalist with contributions from the musicians and friends who knew him, who have also provided extensive memorabilia.

Charlie Whitehead - Anthology 1969 - 73. CD. All of it was cut during soul’s golden age, mostly in the American South. And all of it treads a similar path to Swamp’s own trailblazing recordings from the same era, making it a must for anyone who enjoys songs about love, Sex, adultery, the folly of American politics, police prejudices, more sex, black-American pride, the stupidity of white supremacy, Blaxploitation movies and, yes, even more sex. Our compilation contains the contents of two whole albums, plus an assortment of rare singles that never made it to LP when first released. Virtually none of these recordings have been reissued on CD before. Chuck Dukowski Sextet - Eat My Life. CD. (Nice & Friendly Records / Carg - LLCCD9001) Ex Black Flag bassist Chuck Dukowski created the Sextet (AKA CD6) in 2002 in an attempt to create an acid punk powerhouse. His strong songwriting that has served him so well over his career doesn't let him down here. Vocalist Lora Norton is the biggest surprise here, with her Janis Joplin vocals (when she isn't screaming.) One of the aims of the group was to have a horn player play a main role in the group; this job falls to Lynn Johnston (Slovenly, Santa Barbara Symphony) whose jazz and classical background forces CD6 into unique new territories on these thirteen tracks. Truly spell binding, ambitious music. Features a guest appearance from Red Hot Chilli Pepper's Flea.

Clifford T. Ward - Bittersweet- The Clifford T Ward Story (David Cartwright). Book. (Cherry Red Books - ISBN1-901447-18) This indeed is the age of the pop biography, but if you are looking for Sex, drugs and rock ‘n’roll you must go somewhere else. The story of Clifford T Ward doesn’t rely on gratuitous expose for sustenance, although be warned, you may be surprised by a few of the revelations in this book. It is a tale of talent, love, fame and tragedy as experienced by two young sweethearts through the heady days of pop; suddenly bewildered by the magnitude of that long-awaited success, unable to trust, unable to decide, and finally unable to recapture the ‘golden moment’. From his teenage marriage in 1962, through his brief but beautiful impact on the charts, to the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis that effectively ended his career, the names that define Clifford’s unique talent as both singular and inspiring arc as varied as they are impressive: Jimmy Page, Paul McCartney, Karl Hyde, Jeff Lynne and Tim Rice. All speak between these pages of a truly extraordinary man that the world, sadly, remembers only for an appearance on Top Of The Pops in August 1973. Despite his inner turmoil - the sacking of three consecutive managers, the fight with his publishers, the unrecouped royalties - Clifford T Ward wrote hundreds of songs, great pop songs that were left by the wayside when he hit the charts. Recorded for Lou Adler's Ode Records label it was produced by The Doors' Robbie Krieger and John Densmore.This is Californian sunshine pop psych with trippy lyrics ("Child's Garden") through religious overtones ("Stars in Heaven") and at points there are flashes of Jefferson Airplane and The Peanut Butter conspiracy in the bands male/female vocal harmonies. One of the better obscure albums from this era.NOW DELETED THIS IS THE LAST COPY OF THIS ALBUM

Control OST - Various. CD. (WARNER BROS / CINRAM - 5144244782) Eighteen track CD soundtrack album to Anton Corbijn's motion picture Control, the story of Ian and Deborah Curtis. A friend and contemporary of Joy Division in the late Seventies, Corbijn is responsible for some of their most iconic photographs. In 1988 he directed a video for the band's 'Atmosphere' as a requiem to Ian. Featured here are tracks from the era by Joy Division, David Bowie, Buzzcocks, Sex Pistols, Roxy Music, a cover of "Shadowplay" by the Killers and three new songs by New Order, the last tracks recorded with Peter Hook before he walked out.

Cud - When At Home, Film Me. DVD. (Cherry Red DVDs - CRDVD84) First ever DVD release to feature live footage of this most quirky, eccentric and iconoclastic of late 80s/early 90s indie bands, fronted by the slightly loopy Carl Puttnam, an EsSex boy lost in Leeds. Obviously much beloved of John Peel (and David Gedge, who signed them), they soon excelled on- where else- the Northern college circuit, where this footage was recorded. Taken from two incendiary gigs on their Winter 1989 tour (Leeds and Bradford, unsurprisingly) and featuring the type of skewed 'anarcho-romantic' pop they made their own on tracks such as 'Only A Prawn In Whitby' 'Van Van Van' 'Art' 'I've Had It With Blondes' and 'Robinson Crusoe'. The Bradford material has never to this date been seen, making this disc an even more essential purchase.

Damned - Damned Damned Damned 30th Anniversary Edition. 3-CD Set. (Castle - CMETD1453) February 2007 marks the 30th anniversary of the original release of ‘Damned, Damned, Damned’, the first UK punk album ever issued. In this expanded two disc edition, disc two comprises various contemporaneous demo’s, singles, John Peel sessions and a full live set from the BBC in Concert programme from May 77. Disc Three features a previously unreleased live set, recorded at the 100 club in July 1976, believed to be the first major gig ever to showcase two punk bands (The Sex Pistols also shared the bill).This release will be packaged in a plush slipcased digipak.

Damned - Stiff Singles 1976-77. 5-CD Set. (Castle - CMHBX644) The Sex Pistols may have stolen the headlines while the Clash cleaned up in America, but British punk began here, and nowhere else - with ‘New Rose’, the Damned’s dynamic debut single on Stiff. All four of the band’s commercial 45s for the label are reproduced in CD form here, alongside the ultra-rare ‘Stretcher Case Baby’. Neat Neat Neat indeed . . .

Includes all specially recorded tracks from the likes of Christian Death, The Mission, Alien Sex Fiend, Nosferatu and Gene Loves Jezebel. Tracks featured include classics such as "Starman", "Suffragette City", "Heroes" and "China Girl" among others.

David Bowie - I Dig Everything:1966 Pye Singles. LP. Three singles David Bowie cut for Pye in 1966, with Tony Hatch. "Can't Help Thinking About Me" left the R&B formula of Bowie's earlier singles behind, serving up instead a delicious slice of classic mod-pop (reminiscent of the Kinks) and getting Bowie an invitation to appear on the influential Ready Steady Go!. "Can't Help Thinking About Me" also tells the tale of a young boy who is forced to leave town - perhaps the first hint of homoSexuality in Bowie's lyrics. Warning for small children: the title track of "All The Fun Of The Fair" is terrifying!

David Essex - David Essex & Out On The Street. Dble CD. (Demon Westside - DIAB8054) Both of these albums appear on CD for the first time, despite the fact that the 'David EsSex' album, his second, stayed on the UK charts for six months in 1974. A suberb 2 collection, with beautiful packaging and annotation that are worthy of the artist's well-deserved status as a British pop legend.

David Essex - Rock On & On Tour. Dble CD. (Demon Westside - DIAB 8053) Having made his breakthrough in the role of Jesus in the 1971 stage musical Godspell, in 1973 EsSex simultaneously starred in his first film the ever-popular "That'll be the Day", and issued his debut album "Rock On". This began a period of almost unrivalled worldwide popularity. While the first CD features his superb debut the second disc in this set contains the entireity of the 1978 double LP "On Tour", which makes its CD debut here. Essentially a live greatest hits album it's a solid addition to David's catalogue and this double CD is a fine addition to any fan's collection.

Dead Boys - Night Of The Living Dead Boys. CD. (Bomp - BCD4084CD) LikeThe Sex Pistols and NWA, the Dead Boys seemed built to self-destruct. The Cleveland punk rockers were so combustible, so reckless, so nihilistic that you figured they couldn't stay together for more than a few years and sure enough, the band broke up after only two studio albums. Apart from "Young Loud & Snotty" and "We Have Come For Your Children", the only other legal Dead Boys album is this one, which was recorded live at CBGB in New York in March 1979 but didn't come out until 1981. CBGB was the perfect venue for the Dead Boys when they played New York. Stiv Bators and friends are as crude and obnoxious as they are inspired on material from 'Young Loud & Snotty' (including "Sonic Reducer," "Caught With the Meat In Your Mouth" and "What Love Is") and We have come for your children (most notably, "Son of Sam," "Catholic Boy" and "3rd Generation Nation"). While The Sex Pistols and The Dead Kennedys combined their nihilistic rage, anger and crudeness with strong sociopolitical concerns, the Dead Boys were never really political, they were a band that thrived on nihilism for its own sake.

Diskaholics Anonymous - Weapons Of Ass Destruction. CD. (Smjz - STSJ091CD) Diskaholics Anonymous consists of the not so anonymous Sonic Youth duo of Thurston Moore and Jim O'Rourke, plus the Swedish free jazz icon Mats Gustafsson from the Thing. The music is avant/punk/noise/free jazz, with Moore's guitar somewhat remeniscent of New York in the 80s (well bugger me, there's a surprise1) and "the Youth" around the time of 'Confusion is Sex' or 'Bad Moon Rising'. Jim O'Rourke's laptop has lent itself to several no-wave and post-indie cornerstones, among them the monumental "Less Than You Think" on Wilco's classic 'A Ghost Is Born' album, whilst Mats Gustafsson sounds like Albert Ayler playing punk rock (so, a bit like Peter Brotzmann or John Zorn then?- Jazz Ed) The result of these three titans clashing together is an intense blow-out: raw, grandiose and brutally beautiful. Amazing artwork by Kim Hiorthøy, including an. 8 page booklet.

Dizzy Gillespie - Dizzy Digs Paris. CD. (Giant Step Records - GSCR 016) Dizzy dug Paris and, in turn, the Parisians dug Dizzy Big Time. And, never more so than when his Sextetcaptivated a standing-room-only audience of jazz aficionados at the Salle Pleyel on the evening of February 9,1953.Dizzy's crew comprised seasoned bebop campaigners, baritone sax man Bill Graham and ebullient bebop babblerJoe "Bebop" Carroll. The entire rhythm section was made up of young wannabes - Wade Legge (piano), LouHackney (bass) and Al Jones (drums).Unbilled was an impromptu one song appearance by Sarah Vaughan ('Embraceable You')In their original manifestation, the tapes of this memorable occasion were brutally edited with both solos and entireperformances being binned.NOW, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER ON CD, Giant Steps offers a newly remastered and unedited version of thatevening's events with a number of butchered solos fully restored plus the addition of Bill Graham's previouslydiscarded showcase 'I Don't Stand A Ghost Of A Chance' for which Dizzy makes a rare appearance on piano.

DMZ - Relics. LP. (Voxx - VLP 2004) Slab of coloured vinyl that comprises of four Craig Leon-produced tracks released on BOMP which is the parent company of Voxx and five demo tapes that were recorded on four-track comprise this excellent collection. "When I Get Off" was the number two Garage Record of the Year in 1978 in Boston's Real Paper, and it is agarage masterpiece. The dueling guitars, slashing riff, and great Corraccio bass complement Mono Mann aka Jeff Connolly's blitzkrieg vocals. Here is a slice of psychedelia that is the fans outdoing the bands they idolize. Also, as with Willie Alexander's demos, it seems Craig Leon did a much better job on smaller budgets. The lyrics are Sexist, but fun in "Barracuda" (definitely not the Heart song) "Lift up Your Hood," and the aforementioned "When I Get Off." There is also a cool cover of Roky Erickson's "You're Gonna Miss Me" and a fantastic album jacket of the band photographed at what looks like the Rat nightclub inside a red background covered in barbed wire fence.

Dominic Frontiere - Hammersmith Is Out O.S.T.. LP. (Capitol Records - CAPITOL 861) US pressing. Capitol, 1972. A great soundtrack to a very strange film -- a late Richard Burton/Elizabeth Taylor vehicle, with a very weird-sounding plot! The album's got some wonderfully groovy numbers that have a real kick to them -- bass and drums dancing away on the bottom, with nice use of guitar and organ to soup up the groove! The mellower numbers are also really nice too -- with a slinky Sexy 70s groove that's got the feel of some of the best Italian work of the time. Sally Stevens sings on the track "For Openers", and other titles include "Cookout Society", "Under The Bridge", "Topless Rock", "Kiddo", "Get Me Out Of Here", "Snake Dance", and "Hammersmith Is Out". For fans of obscure cult psych films with lots of raven-haired girls and odd soundtracks.

Donald Austin - Crazy Legs. LP. (Westbound - SEWD 113) Surprise and quirky East coast hit of '73 "Crazy Legs" leads off this original Eastbound in demand slice of vinyl cut in Memphis Tn. Dreamtime - Cathanger 86. CD. (Hux Records - HUXO55) Dreamtime was formed in 1982 as a jazz trio featuring Nick Evans, Gary Curson and Jim LeBaigue. However in the same year it augmented to a quintet with the addition of Jim Dvorak and Roberto Bellatalla.It was under this quintet format that they released their first album, 'Bunny Up' in 1983.A couple of years later this Sextet was born, when the band augmented yet again with the addition of Keith Tippett on piano.Recorded in 1986 ‘Cathanger '86' is chronologically speaking Dreamtime's second album although it is the third to be released, coming after 'Zen Fish' in 1998.The release is completed with an 8 page booklet features photographs from the band’s own archive and liner notes by trombonist, Nick Evans.

Duffy Power - Vampers And Champers. Dble CD. (RPM - RPMD 320) Second edition of the series collecting together all of this great jazz / blues solo artists' sessions from the '60's. This thirty three track anthology concentrates on his '66,'69, '71 and '90's sessions and contains previously unreleased material. These recordings have a wonderful stripped down feel to them, it's always a pleasure hearing a talented musician in the middle of the creative process. The first disc features support from Danny Thompson and John McLaughlin, while the second focuses on an unreleased session with the Keith Tippet Sextet and includes tracks from 2006. Includes: "God Bless The Child", "I Want You To Love Me (unreleased)", "Holiday (Unreleased)" and "Fixing A Hole."

Eartha Kitt - "That Bad Eartha". CD. (Rev Ola - CRREV189) Second album by the Sultry performer, first released in 1953. This album gives her plenty of chances to show off her multi lingual tongue, she sings in French, Turkish, Spanish, Swahili as well as English. Her Sexiness and predatorial public appearance is never far from the surface, "I Want To Evil", "Let's Do It" and "My Heart Belongs To Daddy" all lends itself to her playful character. Effectively acting her way through the album, it would become a good representative of her career overall, palyful, powerful and a femme fatale.

Earthless - Sonic Prayer. CD. (Gravity - 45) Hailing from San Diego, with Mario R., drummer of Clikatat Ikatowi and Hot Snakes, and Mike E. On bass from Electric Nazarene , and Isaih M., a touring member of Nebula, on guitar. They play 20-30 minute, loud, epic songs. Producing a bombastic stew of druggie bass drone, pulsating rhythmic Sex beats, and brain piercing acid flashback guitar leads. No two Earthless shows are ever the same, so the four song LP was recorded live in the studio 2004 to capture the live dynamic that they are most suited for. Earthless draw influences from bands such as the Groundhogs, Amon Düül II, Black Sabbath, Hawkwind and Jimi Hendrix's more freaked out instrumentals. They have played with acts such as High On Fire, Acid Mothers Temple, Nebula, Om, Mountain, Comets On Fire.

Eddie & The Hot Rods - Do Anything You Wanna Do. DVD. Later known as The Rods (not to be confused with the US metal band of the same name), Eddie's mob were one of the forerunners of punk rock's first wave, their bluesy style paving the way for The Damned and The Pistols. Contains material featured in such films as 'Haunted House Of Horror' 'Naughty' 'Take An Easy Ride' 'I Start Counting' 'What's Good For The Goose' 'Come Back Peter aka Some Like It Sexy' etc. The track 'Alexander' is a stone Mod dancefloor classic, quite strange considering the band were all rockers!!

Elton Dean & Sophia Domancich - Avant. CD. (Hux Records - HUX063) Former Soft Machine sax-man Elton Dean began his professional career with Long John Baldry’s Bluesology in 1967.He later helped to form the Keith Tippett Sextet before going on to play a crucial role in Soft Machine between 1969 &1972.The French pianist Sophia Domancich has worked with Elton on and off over the past 20 years. During this time, she has become closely associated with the Canterbury scene and has played with most of the key figures of the genre, including Pip Pyle, Hugh Hopper, Richard Sinclair, Phil Miller & Didier Malherbe.‘Avant’ features a recording of a live concert which the duo performed in France last year. This fully improvised show was the first time they had ever performed as a duo. Elton Deans Ninesense - Live At The BBC. CD. (Hux Records - HUX 046) British saxophonist Elton Dean has long been the spearhead of free jazz in England. He began his professional career with Long John Baldry's Bluesology in 1967, then went on to help form the Keith Tippett Sextet before becoming a key member of Soft Machine in 1969. In the mid 70s he formed 'Ninesense', one of the most influential cutting-edge jazz bands of the period. This is about as ambitious a musical project as you will find in popular music. the Essex Green has it all: a psychedelic vox organ, weird shifts in tempo, fuzzbox guitars and hallucenogenic orange sunshine lyrics. The comparison to the sixties group the Zombies, does not do justice this is a mix of sunny psychedelic pop, jazz, rhumba, and celtic sounds that compares favorably to perhaps the I.S.B's "10,000 spirits", another eccentric sixties works that split musical genres and had big ideas. Eventually this will be seen as the visionary statement it is, and it will be appreciated as a forgotten pyschedelic classic.

Flesh For Lulu - Roman Candle- Flesh For Lulu Live. DVD. (Cherry Red DVDs - CRDVD112) The first ever DVD to feature one of the UK’s premier Goth-Rock bands - Flesh For Lulu. Flesh burst into the UK 80s pop music scene in 1983 (around the same time as their close friends Alien Sex Fiend) with their widely popular "Roman Candle" EP and never did look back. The band was built on the songwriting partnership of Nick Marsh and Rocco Barker, and slowly began to build a fanbase for their dark and powerful rock n roll around the world. Third album 'Big Fun City', released in 1985, was their major breakthrough, earning them legions of adoring fans and breaking the American market. Several of their songs were featured in profile American movies of the mid-80’s and their videos enjoyed heavy rotation on MTV in the U.S. The band broke up in the early 1990’s, but reformed in 2001 and frequently tour the U.S. (where they retain a heavy cult fanbase) and Europe. 'Roman Candle - Flesh For Lulu Live' captures the band at the height of their mid-1980’s success with a full show from their 1985 UK tour. Amongst the tracks featured are debut single 'Roman Candle' and fan favourites 'A Cat Burgular' and 'Subterraneans'.

Between 1979 and 1992 (when the label was taken over by Cherry Red) Flicknife had been home to and released records by Hawkwind (and the various Friends And Relations spin offs), Alien Sex Fiend, The Saints, Dogs d'Amour, The Barracudas and Nico. Basically, if you took drugs and wore a long black crushed velvet jacket, you were there!! Ah, them were the days.

Fritz The Cat - Original Soundtrack Album. LP. (Fantasy - 9406) Fritz the Cat is an insane and hilarious '70s animated film about the life of a Sex starved, streetwise dope smoking cat. Fugs - Final CD Part 1. CD. First studio album in 18 years from the first underground rock group of all time. Ed Sanders and Tuli Kupferberg formed the Fugs at the Peace Eye bookstore in New York's East Village in late 1964. This the band's 14th album and first since 1995's The Real Woodstock Festival (live), perpetuates the tradition of the band's trademark song writing style with songs rife with political and social satire, as well as profanity and Sexual references. Sanders, Kupferberg (now 79 years old), and band rework the Dion & the Belmonts' classic "Teenager in Love" as "Septuagenarian In Love," and a piece by a legendary poet set to music called "A Poem By Charles Bukowski".

Girlschool - Play Dirty. CD. (Castle - CMRCD959) Hard rock legends of the 70s and 80s collided on Girlschool’s fourth album, as Slade legends Noddy Holder and Jimmy Lea were recruited as producers and songwriters. The result was something of a shock to the band’s longtime fans at the time, but twenty years later Play Dirty sounds like an intriguing blend of metal, glam, pop and punk that deserves a fresh hearing. The bonus tracks include brand-new recordings of ‘Tush’ and ‘Don’t Call It Love’. Also notable for the only Metal album to ever name a song after a Rowan Atkinson quote ('Knob In The Media'). Glitter Band - Hey!. CD. (7Ts - GLAMCD8) Forget all connotations involving a certain Gary and his allegedly disgusting Sexual proclivities, this is a great stomping stackheeled monster of a 70s glam record and its reissue is long overdue. Containing 'Angel Face' Just For You' 'Tell Him' and glitterized versions of many 50s and 60s pop classics (including the BEST EVER cover version of Spencer Davis' 'Gimme Some Lovin'), this was the band's debut (originally on Bell) from 1974 and proved they were capable of existing without a certain Mr Gadd. Sadly frontman Gerry Shepherd passed away in 2003 but the sheer tacky enjoyment of these songs lives on, not least of all now three bonus tracks and a deluxe booklet full of liner notes and piccies have been added. Rock on!

Goldfrapp - Black Cherry. LP. (Mute - STUMM196) After the huge success of their debut Felt Mountain, this was a wonderfully daring (and rewarding) follow up. Throwing most of the atmospherics and operatic vocals out of the window for some glammed up pop dance tunes, lyrics of a Sexual nature ("put your dirty angel face between my legs and knicker lace"), electro clash drum beats and dirty synth sounds proved to be a stroke of genius for the duo. They somehow mangaed to incorporate their icy tones of the past with this new found confidence to create a storming second album. Includes: "Tiptoe", "Forever" and "Hairy Trees."

Goldfrapp - Supernature. LP. (Mute - STUMM250) Moving firmly away from the ghostly melodies of their debut and continuing Black Cherry's synthy glam pop moments, this is goldfrapp's third release. Out in 2005, this is the duo taking the plunge into the commercial world, the T Rex and rock influences are everywhere as are the stripped back structures and the adult themes / Sexy vocals. An interesting record as it hints at the future for the group, having grown so quickly from their quiet debut into this at times brash synth group that is also capable of creating highly emotive songs, where could they take their strong talents next?

Graham Bond Organization - I Met The Blues At Klook's Kleek. CD. (Music Avenue - 250175) Graham Bond’s importance as a key figure in the development of Rock music is annotated at length in numerous books. But there can be no substitute for hearing his legendary Organization for yourself! The stunning power of the band, compared to other groups of the time, is in aural evidence on this album. Whether or not you are a fan of early British R & B, to truly understand the roots of modern Rock, and hear why the Graham Bond Organization were so highly regarded at the time, this recording is a must have, an electrifying document of a Sexy time when R&B, and Blues happily flirted with Jazz.

Graham Collier - Down Another Road / Songs For My Father / Mosaics. Dble CD. (B.G.O. Records - BGOCD767) British Modern Jazz is now being critically revalued and these three albums recorded between 1969 and ’70 by Graham Collier Sextet/Music (originally released on Fontana) are testament to some fine original music. While the first two albums are split into several tracks, Mosaics is just two long pieces and subdivided into eight classical themes, made up of long orchestrated movements. At times, the sextet counted Harry Beckett, Kenny Wheeler and John Surman amongst their numbers. Digitally remastered and slipcased.

Graham Parker - Songs Of No Consequence. CD. (Evangeline - GEL4092) 2005-released studio album from one of Britain's greatest and most gifted songwriters, blessed with the voice somewhat akin to what Sam Cooke would have sounded like if he was a dodgy EsSex car dealer called Jackie. All of the fire, rage and passion that made his early work so vital is still here- only now he's older, more cantankerous and full of renewed bitterness. Hence why 'Bad Chardonnay' 'She Swallows It' 'Dislocated Life' 'Chloroform' There's Nothing On The Radio' and 'Did Everybody Just Get Old?' all sound exactly like you would expect. Back to the electric rock format after a dip in the waters of folk and country, Mr Parker and his band the Figgs just go from strength to strength.

Released on the Harvest label in 1977, this was originally their first album as a Sextet but still featured the inclusion of crumhorns, bassoons and glockenspiels. It's easily their most progressive release taking medieval music and blending it with complex electric progressive rock. Stunning.

(Tapestry Records - TP222) Now a rare collectors item in its original version, this180 gram thick card sleeve edition of the album that appears to have been recorded by "The Gods" under pseudonym (Ken Hensley, later w. Toe Fat, Uriah Heep) . Musically veering towards heavy rock, most of its track are indeed powered by driving guitar work, although there are also softer songs inside. The title track and "Climax" are true gems...and of course all the lyrics deal with Sex as a topic. Hot,limited and valuable re-press.
