Punk legend, garage reviValist, guitarist, singer, songwriter, author, producer, poet, sculptor, painter, cultural icon and one-man creation machine Billy Childish epitomises the DIY spirit of TRUE punk, garage and 'indie' like no-one else. The British folk revival that took place at club level during the Sixties introduced a whole new audience to traditional folksong, while also bringing to the fore the concept of the earnest young singer-songwriter. Given the grassroots nature of the movement, it wa sinevitable that the regional scenes would throw up their own local heroes. In Scotland, the grizzled likes of Hamish Imlach, Matt McGinn and Alex Campbell would underpin the scene while providing inspiration for a slightly younger generation of talents (Bert Jansch, Gerry Rafferty, Billy Connolly) whose immersion in contemporary pop culture would enable them to make a greater impact on the mainstream. Featuring typically perceptive liners from noted Celt commentator Hamish MacTavish (yes, he does exist), this compilation incoroporates all the era's main players- the club raconteurs, the acoustic strummers, the folksong reviValists, the electric folk rockers- for a definitive look at the heyday of the Scottish folk scene.
First time on CD collection of the classic sunshine pop of these Californian hitmakers (best known for being writers of all the Monkees' hit material, as well as Boyce being later immortalised by UK late 70s beat reviValists The Pleasers, with whom he had worked, on, er, 'Tommy Boyce') covering their three albums and several 45s for A&M in the late 60s, including the title track (still their best known hit to this day). Remastered, beautifully packaged with ultra rare photos and trade ads, and featuring notes and quotes from recognised Monkees authority Andrew Sandoval as well as Hart and the late Boyce himself. How could one resist such a package? Cheer up, sleepy genies!!
Any psychedelic/garage/underground rock-and-roll enthusiast knows this man from Bethlehem who bangs to his own lysergic drum--who came from 80s back-from-the-grave reviValists THE ORIGINAL SINS and entered the solo world through the ultra-limited edition records on the now legendary Twisted Village label. He defines the underground aesthetic, something that he has done during the last three decades, and his new record finds him still in peak songwriting and recording form. Danceable, trance-able, romance-able and yet oh so very hallucinatory.
The Detroit boys' first album of tacky-teen, reviValist rock'n'roll- filled to the brim with pedal-to-the-metal covers ('Rockin Robin' 'Hello Mary Lou' 'Bebop Confidential' 'Rumble' 'Roadrunner' etc) among their own high-energy (not Hi-NRG!!) rock anthems. First time ever on CD- amust for fans of glam or classic Stateside heavy rawk.
Limited edition remaster 2 CD set (this will revert to a single disc after these last few have sold out)This career-spanning collection spotlights both sides of the Cream catalogue--the wildly experimental studio outfit and the stripped-down live trio--combining newly re-mastered studio classics along with eight historic live performances.Beginning as imaginative blues reviValists, Cream quickly evolved into a riskier unit, mining an audacious assortment of jazz, folk, pop, blues and psychedelic elements. Cream made adventurous, original music that reflected the restless energy of its era, yet continues to resonate nearly four decades later. This album comprises 22 studio tracks, plus "Steppin Out" (live).Disc two contains 8 expansive live cuts recorded March taken from various albums.NOW DELETED BY UNIVERSAL - THESE ARE THE LAST 3 COPIES OF THIS DOUBLE CD
Brand new album from Detroit-based rock'n'roll band that do not under any circumstances play garage reviValist rock!!! About time too. Instead, what we have is a dirty Americana sound somewhee between Exile-era Stones, Sweetheart-era Byrds, and Grant Lee Buffalo. And none of this moping, shambling misery that people think country rock consists of in the post-Ryan Adams era, Raunch from the ranch!!

First ever CD compilation issued of now undeservedly forgotten early-mid 70s' female vocal duo, (somewhat like a glam version of the Paper Dolls or Toys), who scored a hit in 1974 with 'Guilty' and had had two previous minor successes with 'You Came You Saw You Conquered' and 'Third Finger Left Hand'. Produced by A&M supremo Phil Swern in an attempt to cash in on the glam boom's reviValist tendencies, the records- which often consisted of Carpenters, Wizzard and Martha Reeves covers as well as Swern-composed originals- actually turned out to be very good indeed!! This remastered CD features their previously unheard version of the Toys' "A Lover's Concerto" as well as liner notes and interviews with the girls themselves. If you ever wondered who the 'Climax Sisters' from 'Confessions Of A Pop Performer' or the 'Little Ladies' of Rock Follies were based on, look no further.
1994 album from much-loved festival perennials and neo-prog reviValists, always based around the nucleus of guitarist/vocalist Nick Barrett, keyboardist Clive Nolan (also of Arena) and drummer Fudge Smith. Now reissued in a stylish digipak with bonus track 'Sister Bluebird'. Although the 90s were a period of reinvention for the band, allegedly with a 'heavier' sound, the six original tracks on this album still showcase every cliché that one ever loved about 80s prog and are all the better for it. I mean, who else but the 'Drags could get away with recording a song called 'And We'll Go Hunting Deer?' Live favourite 'Queen Of Hearts' also made its first appearance here. Still not patch on their 80s material, but a very good album nonetheless.

Sleeve notes give the listener insight into the group’s psyche and tell the story of their five year evolution.
Excellent retrospective of the UK mid to late 70s mod reviValists The Pleasers. Contains their entire album, the "Lies" EP and both sides of their first single. Classic 60s style powerpop produced by Tommy Boyce (Monkees, etc) that was critically acclaimed at the time but failed to trouble the record buying public, although they did singlehandedly pave the way for the UK mod revival scene of the late 70s and early 80s.
First time on CD for the legendary debut album from these UK rockabilly-punkabilly reviValists. This is the first time these proper Mercury recordings have been issued, and also included are a number of bonus tracks, which go to make it a true Best Of. Still headlining festivals all over the world, the Polecats remain a very predominant music force. Guitarist Boz Boorer went on to become the main musical collaborator with post-Marr Morrissey, whilst frontman Tim Polecat is still very active and involved in the US West Coast scene, where he now lives, working on music videos.

The folk revival that took place at club level during the Sixties introduced a whole new audience to traditional folksong, while also bringing to the fore the concept of the earnest young singer-songwriter. Given the grassroots nature of the movement, it was inevitable that the regional scenes would throw up their own local heroes. When, by the end of the decade, centuries-old songs werebeing given a sonic makeover by the new breed of electric folkies (headed by the likes of Fairport and Steeleye, both of whom are represented here) folk music had long since escaped out of the clubs and into the charts. This 3CD set focuses on the astonishing depth of talent emanating from the English folk scene during this most tumultuous of decades. Every facet of the English folk genre is encompassed, ranging from club singers and trad reviValists like Isla Cameron and Shirley Collins, the post Dylan singer songwriter boom (Donovan, Ralph McTell, Michael Chapman) folk base jazz fusioneers Pentangle, and even such turn of the decade acid folk otsiders as Synanthesia and the mighty Comus.

With this 1994 album, the revitalised SLF confirmed that they were a vital band in their own right, not just another bunch of reviValists. Fiery and committed, the original material here burned with all the passion of the 70s line-up, but with an additional intelligence earned by Jake Burns’ years as bandleader. No wonder then that many fans rate this among their classic work. This reissue adds a rare remix and a compelling Burns interview.
