Eric Dolphy - Illinois Concert. CD. (Blue Note - 4998262) Seven track live album recorded at the University of Illinois in 1963. This performance was not released until 1999 as no one knew the gig had been recorded until someone stumbled along the master tapes. Featuring a young Herbie Hancock on piano, Dolphy plays alto sax, flute, and bass clarinet in his wonderful, vocal style. An essential example of howimaginative Dolphy was as a live performer and soloist. Includes: "Softly As In A Morning Sunrise", "South Street Exit" and "G.W."
