(Evangeline - GELM4076) No one has chronicled the absurdities and anguish of everyday life with more insight, humour and poignancy than Loudon Wainwright. A heavily mannered performance and well planned arrangements cannot disguise the heart break within the songs, the recent death of his mother holds court over the entire albums theme. Touching on loneliness, the isolation of modern life and September 11th, this 2001 album is far from cheery but at least Loudon has done his best to cover up his misery and offer a strong sense of hope on this well made thirteen track release.
