Triste Janero - Meet Triste Janero LP : Release Information

Triste Janero - Meet Triste Janero. LP. (White Whale - WHITEWA 7122)

Vinyl pressing of this late 60s sunshine pop meets bossa nova album-- an excellent collection full of groovy tunery that falls somewhere between the work of Brasil 66 and The Free Design! The set was recorded in Dallas (of all places) at the end of the 60s, and features some very nicely stripped-down rhythms played by a group that includes electric bass and organ -- supporting a group with sweet female lead vocals. Tunes are incredibly well-selected -- and the album includes a stunning bossa version of Nilsson's "Without Her" (er. . .I take it they mean Badfinger's "Without You"- Ed) plus "Rene De Marie", "You Didn't Have To Be So Nice", "Somba De Orphia", "In The Garden", and the super-extended "TJ Blues", which features a long slowburning jazzy Hammond groove.
