Wondermints - Bali. CD. (Sanctuary Records - SANCD001) The Wondermints third and most recent album still maintains the magic '60's Sunshine pop psych vibe that the band have become famous for but adds some surprises. They have obviously been listening to Mutantes since the opening cut "Arnaldo said" pinches one of Mutantes tunes and also brilliantly pastiches the Tropicalia style."In and around Greg Lake" not only has a great title but explores Beatles like melodies while the title track "Bali" is a long drifting trip into the weird. The album is loaded with beautiful layered vocal harmonies, harpsichords, electric and acoustic instruments, assorted keyboard effects and full orchestral trimmings. Well worth checking out!
